Chapter 27 : Underwater World

When the other team suddenly appeared, Ike and his team fell behind. Even with Regus around, he didn't dare to take any chances.

Because none of them had guns.

However, during their escape, they unknowingly entered an alley with many twists and turns and ended up in a dead end.

The six had to turn back again, as the sound of the pursuit was getting closer. 'Get up there!

Ike pointed to the houses up and down the alley.

These houses have security nets and air conditioning racks, so it's easy to climb!

Tom, Regus, and others didn't hesitate to follow Ike's lead, climbing up the security windows and balcony anti-theft bars of the buildings. They almost reached the second-floor anti-theft window, stepping on the air conditioning frames, holding the anti-theft windows with one hand, and holding their weapons with the other.

The other two saw all four of them doing it and climbed up as well.

As soon as Ike and his men found their footing, the three men with black ribbons followed suit.

On the second floor, Ike could see what appeared to be a courtyard at the other end of the wall of the dead end. A car was parked under the wall, and there was a closed gate in the courtyard. It was impossible to see if anyone lived there. But if these three men pushed them, they would simply jump over the wall.

The wall was over three meters high, so jumping on the car should be safe. Ike made his way toward the wall.

The three men who were chasing them saw the six people hanging on the wall, and the man with the gun in his hand cruelly smiled: "Why are you climbing so high? Is this a game, let's play?"

Ike didn't say anything.

The man who had just killed his brother glared at the man with the gun. "Hey, hey, hey." The man with the gun let out a sullen laugh.

"What's that look on your face? I just gently sent

your brother a bullet, but he didn't suffer at all. Look how good I was to your brother." The man laughed louder and louder.

Two of his followers also laughed.

'You brute, scum!" the middle-aged man who had just lost his brother screamed, his eyes red. Another passer-by, a plump man with a round face who appeared to be in his mid-twenties, saw the cruelty of the three men and angrily said, "Why are you doing this? Aren't you afraid of legal consequences? Don't think you can be lawless without surveillance now. You can't escape."

"Oh, ha ha ha... I almost forgot if you didn't tell me." The middle-aged man with a gun looked at all six of them. "I guess I can't let any of you leave alive."

The round-faced passer-by gasped and stared at them through gritted teeth.

After a few more chuckles, the middle-aged man in the lead instructed the other two young men to keep an eye on Ike and went back to find some rocks in the corner. He picked one up, showing a self- intoxicated expression, "This society is like this, don't you understand... The law of the jungle. Once I may have been less than you, but now I am your Lord."

"Hehe." The middle-aged man in the lead held the stone in his palm, and his eyes fell on the face of the round-faced young man. "Look at your clothes, you should be very rich. What brand of clothes are you wearing?"

The round-faced young man also sneered, "You can't afford this brand."

"Hehe. You don't have to provoke me. Anything you do in this world is of no use to me..."

Suddenly, he smashed the stone in his hand towards Ike's side, and the round-faced young man thought he was being targeted and reflexively avoided, almost falling.

However, Ike had been wary of this move and quickly ducked. The rock hit the security net, fell, and didn't hurt anyone.

"Tut... That's a quick reaction." The middle-aged man looked at Ike. "Ah... So it is..."

Ike didn't know what he saw in the man's eyes, but the middle-aged man in the lead had a look of realization. Then he lowered his head, mumbled something to himself, put away his gun, and turned away.

"I'll come back next time..." The middle-aged man looked back at Ike and smiled in a strange, indescribable way.

Ike thought the smile was creepy, and by the time he realized it, all three of them had left.

The round-faced young man naturally did not believe that they had just let them go and walked away. There must be some kind of conspiracy!

Ike thought so too and waited there for a while without seeing them return, but he wasn't ready to leave either.

"We'll go this way. Let's jump into the yard," Ike said, moving toward the wall, and the rest followed. The three-meter-high wall was adorned with glass. Ike carefully stepped on it and looked down at the black car. Without thinking, he jumped on it.

Although he was mentally prepared, the high walls and gravity still made his feet feel numb. After several people had jumped, Ike felt a few stares through the windows of the courtyard.

"Sorry, passing by," Ike said, and the crowd opened the large mahogany door in the courtyard and dispersed.

The three men went away; they didn't lie in wait nearby, and they didn't pursue them anymore.

That's weird.

It was also surprising this time, although later, Ike didn't know why the man inexplicably left, bringing a creepy and strange expression that stayed with Ike.

Ike was sure he didn't know the man and had never seen him before. So why was that?

In a society where the order is no longer in place, everyone stands at the same starting line. Class, money, power... everything gets reshuffled.

Multimillionaire entrepreneurs can be worse off than dogs, and people at the bottom of society can become a nightmare.

So those at the top want social stability and peace, while those at the bottom want world chaos. Over the next few days, Ike and his team modified the glasses and applied glass glue to seal them.

Glass glue needs a certain amount of time to dry and solidify, and half a day is enough on weekdays, but it will take longer in wet weather.

Ike rested for two days and went back to the wholesale market behind the street.

The rope in the middle of the road was still untied. They followed along the rope from the last spot. Regus, wearing modified swimming goggles, had been tested to work at a depth of two meters before

he dived again.

They found a total of eight cans of gas in this natural gas store and 13 barrels of tap water in the mineral water company next to it.

They then moved on to other nearby businesses. Ike, Tom, and Regus took turns diving.

Mineral water bottles were used as large empty bottles, tied to their waists so they could take a few breaths. Ike had fully adapted to the underwater environment, although the current was murky and the light was dark, he couldn't see anything even when he opened his eyes.

But with all these days of diving training, Ike was pretty much at ease. Their target this time was a flooded convenience store.

This convenience store had a steel door, and Regus pried it open before they entered.

Most of the things in here had been moved. After the water impact, the shelves were wobbly and very messy, so they had to be extra careful. But underwater, Ike could swim through it.

Where were the snacks hidden?

Ike thought they should be floating on the ceiling...

Because many of the food bags contained air, Ike could pick up a lot of stuff just by shaking the shelves and letting them float up to the ceiling.

As for the rest of the place under the shelves, Ike simply gave up exploring.

If he accidentally got caught up in something or tripped, it wouldn't be worth the risk, so there was no need.

After touching all four corners of the ceiling, Ike suddenly felt a crack along the wall. Feeling through the gap, he found a door.

Finally found a door. Must be a warehouse? Or where the owner lives.

The door had a round handle and no lock. The lower part of the door was wide, and there must be water inside, which could eliminate risks.

Ike twisted the handle and slowly and forcefully opened it.

As soon as the door was opened, Ike could feel the temperature difference between the flowing water on both sides and some floating matter. After waiting for a while and feeling that the water on both sides had stabilized, Ike slowly dived in along the wall.

On the left, there was a wooden cabinet.

The contents of the cabinets either floated into the water or floated everywhere. As a result, most of the items on the cabinet, except for the heavy ones, were out of place.

Underwater, was astonishing because nothing could be seen, only touched with the hands. It was a feeling that Ike had never experienced before. When he first put on the handmade glasses, he realized that this was truly a "wonderful underwater world".

The underwater world was very different from the real world Ike lived in, and though it was dirty, smelly, and strange, it was also mysterious.

So Ike spent most of his dives not just searching for supplies but also exploring this new and strange world.

At the moment, Ike was surrounded by muddy and warm water, submerged in the silence of the underwater world. All his senses were focused on his hand, which stroked the unfamiliar wooden shelf. The grains rubbed against his fingers, and the shelf told Ike its history and traces.

Ike touched a glass jar.

It was shaking. There was liquid in it. Maybe canned fruit?

Ike put it in his bag and turned his hand sideways again. A soft touch passed into his hand, and Ike gently pulled the thing to reveal its contents.

Glass jars again.

It was a box of canned fruit.

Ike found a lot of stuff in this warehouse, crates of canned goods. He got a big harvest this time!
