I walk into the high school building, smells hit me all at once to much perfume and axe body spray on the freshman's , my brother who I still walk to class every morning because I want to make sure he goes. My brother Theo. He's looking down towards the ground, both headphones in, always looks like he's busy and has no time to chit-chat, his brown shaggy hair that I gave up trying to get him to come it, his jeans with small rips and tears, the gamer t-shirt with 'RUST' across the front in bubble letters and a color similar to rust. He looks up as I continue to analyze. Theo says "do I have something on my face, or am I just that handsome you can't look away" he grins at his joke. I answer back to him just as smart "of course you look handsome as always baby brother" this cause him to laugh at my remark. A few seconds go by, kids talking and rushing to get to their classes.The second bell rings loudly, he looks at the time on his phone and frowns "I have to go before Mrs Jackson throws one of here royal tantrums" he says while rushing to put his phone and his ear buds in his backpack. I quickly say before he runs off "I love you have a good day!" He smiles before running down the hallway. I walk over to my locker, senior's get the first period of study hall where you can show up or not. As I'm getting out my psychics books I hear my name being called down the hall "Penelope!! Girl I know you can hear me!" I smile to myself as I know who it is without looking up. As I close my locker I hear the platforms hit the ground with a thud. I looked up at my best friend, Casey Washington, my best friend since me and my brother moved here when I was in the 6th grade. Her bright bubblegum pink Afro that she wears with a prod smile. "Hey pinky" i say while having a sly grin. She hated that nickname since she dyed her hair almost 3 years ago. She looked at me for a few seconds before saying "you make me want to shove a nail file up my nose" she said with an annoyed look. "Did you need something or just are you secretly in love with me, and can't stand to be away from me"

She completely ignored me "Jiro asked me out finally!" She says excited about the new news. I roll my eyes and smile. Jiro is an Asian tall man with black hair and brown eyes that seem to change in color slightly every time you look at him. He gave me the creeps. "Are you still hung up on him?" I joke. She just gave me a duh look. I look at her and noticed something different "did you pierce your ears?"I say puzzled Her hand went to her left ear "yeah I got it done with Jiro yesterday" I was a little annoyed over the fact she was changing for this guy. "You know you don't need to change so much, he should love you for you and not what you want him to see" I say seriously. She just gave this look of guilt but also I know she doesn't care. She starts to say something else but I feel a vibrate in my pocket. I look down to see my roommates text in all caps {PENELOPE BENNETT, YOUR DOG GOT IN MY ROOM AND TRASHED IT}

I chuckle a tad bit before responding {my bad ill clean it up when I get back} Jaime took me and Theo in after we ran away from our uncles in Boston. She's a very tall lady with neon blue hair. She is always in flower dresses with a white or blue bucket hat on

I take one last look and put my phone away. "Penelope are you listening?" I look up at Casey "I'm always listening" she rolls her eyes with a more annoyed look than before " want to go to the Cafe before class? It's just down the rode" I say while closing my locker

Shes not paying attention. She's looking down towards hall with a look that I can't really describe. I look where she's looking so seriously at. This guy down the hall, at first I didn't really see anything special but the more I looked more I saw. He was tall but not too tall that he looked over everyone maybe 5'10, he was native with curly brown hair that was longer then it looked due yo it being up in a bun in the back. But the most weird thing he had bright blue eyes that seemed to glow. He looked down this way and smiled that may of seemed nice but to me it looked smug and cocky. I must of looked disgusted or something because the next thing I know Casey is pulling me out of the school faster then I can think. "Casey CHILL, your going to rip my arm off" she ignores my complaints and looks pissed off. We stop right around the corner with the Cafe in view. She stops and take a breath that's sounds like a gasp. I look at her with a little concern. "What the fuck was that" she looks up with a puzzled look "that's Andrew's kid" that makes sense. Andrew is Casey's dad, he had another family while screwing Casey's mom. She kinda lost her mind when she found out about his other family.Casey and her uses to constantly fighting like fist fights every other day. But it got better after he died a year or so ago. "Lets just grab a coffee" she says and looks ruff that event must of exhausted her. I nod and start to walk. We walk in silence, we walk in the door as the little bell chimes above us and I hear people talking but it just kinda falls In the back of my head. The small TV that hanged from the ceiling is on with a bald middle age man talking about something about the new robberies at random Gas stations and convenient stores . We walk up to the counter Casey orders hers while I study the menu. As I'm deep in thought I hear from behind me "Hattie babe those new shoes look so cute" I turn and look behind me at the door way is the two most annoying people to walk this earth Hattie Orton and her goon Margaret Quinn. Hattie has her hair an unnatural blonde that she claims is real, a light yellow crop top that hardly is over her bra (which is a dark purple so it stands out) matched with low rise jeans. Margaret is wearing almost the same except her crop top is a decent size. Hattie looks up and meets my eyes " why are you staring at us Bennett?" she scoffs my way, I don't even care to respond. I look away as Casey walks my way. "I ordered for you since you took too long" she says while looking down. "Casey... I've never seen you act like that. Do you want to talk about it? I get it's hard but school just started you'll have to deal with him for some time" I say as I try to meet her eyes. "no I don't, lets go back to school" she says then starts to walk out of the cafe. I follow behind her.
