Doggy Day

Toby was a golden retriever who's fur shined as bright as the smiling sun. His human would take him on walks to the park and play with him all day long running in the sweet smelling grass from a fresh rain. They would play with slobbery frisbees and tennis balls as if they were dancing together on a thick carpet of green grass. But whenever his human left for wherever humans go all day, he would bored as if he was watching lead paint dry.

When Toby's human is away, he chews on his favorite chew toy the taste of rubber in his mouth and the high squeaks make him gitty, but it's not the same as his human was actually there playing tug-of-war, wrestlemania, or any of the other fun games they play. At his beautiful, peaceful cedar cabin in rural Vermont right next to the lake.

One day was human was gone he could hear something. He perked up his ears listening intently, as if he was a hawk. He heard footsteps outside the door, but it wasn't his human. It was some other human, as the other human walked up to the door, he started barking and barking and barking. He ran up to the door quick as a bunny making sure all intruders would stay out out like a good dog guard dog should. As he heard the footsteps getting louder the other human dropped something in the slot of the door. He barked even louder  like a police siren. And that made the other human walk away quick as a bunny.

As he heard the other human walk away he was as proud as a peacock. He made the other human leave his territory and celebrated with a mighty “woof”. He was a guard standing watch over his mighty, fortress.

After a while he was as hungry as a starving bear. Luckily for him he has the best human and she put food in his bowl every day. He walked over to the bowl ate and ate and ate until he finished the entire bowl. The food tasted like heaven, his human always knew what he liked to eat. Once he was nice and full he laid down in his nice fluffy bed and slept curled up like a baby.

He woke up to the sound of a rustic door opening with a creek. He looked as if he was a frog hopping from log to log. Running quickly over the floor not getting any traction underneath his paws. It was his human, as she opened the door he jumped on her legs almost knocking her over like a tower a blocks and started licking her hands as she hugged him. He was so happy and excited he could've run circles all day long. There love and admiration for each other were mutual. Once his human was, home, they played until the day became night and they got tired and sleepy. They fell asleep together  like two peas in a pod, this was the most pleasant pace on earth for him. When he woke up the next day it would happen all over again.
