Division war
chapter one

chapter one

Charles sat in his usual spot in the club his friends would sit at every month. The club they all hang out at was the only club in Division called the Spot. The Spot was a location where Division groups could hang out not together obviously because of the rule. Charles got reservations here because his friends worked at the Spot. Charles sits in the back in a large oval-shaped table with worn-out plush seats. He adjusted his grey business suit and matching grey tie one more time to make sure it is perfect. He remembers telling his father he would be out visiting his business partners for a deal and he lied big time but this become natural for Charles after years of practice. These friends most of them were not Business and Charles knew that he was breaking Division law but he did not care. All he cared about was his friends. He liked hanging out with them and talking to them. He rents out the Spot for his friends to come and enjoy the night with them. Charles is very careful to only hang out at night after the place closes. The Spot building is an all-red brick building exterior with the word Spot painted in black and purple letters on a wooden sign. The interior has a bar area with bar stools. There are also tables, booths, and Charles oval chair spot that seats all of his friends. There are pictures and paintings on the wall but after the year’s most of them are worn out and dull. There are chandeliers above for light and they are all lite by candles. The floor is an all-wooden dusty floor and in one of the corners has a dance area with flashing strobe lights.

Charles met his friend’s as everyone did at Division controlled and owned school. Division wanted everyone to get a basic education. They tried to separate the Division kids as best they could but it did not work. The group grew from school and started hanging outside of school and in secret hiding spots that they only knew about.

Brenda Natel comes in first. Brenda worked in Business with Charles so Charles knew that he could talk to her without getting in trouble. While Charles's parents did more deals and trades Brenda and her parents part was making clothing. All Business families were busy but Charles could see that Brenda was just a little bit faster than the competition. The competition was the only way Business families survived and always be better every day. Even within Business, they were somewhat divided by jobs and colors. Charles and his family wear grey in some way and Brenda and her family wear yellow in some way. Brenda is wearing a dull yellow dress with black heels and her hair is tied up in a bun like most Businesswomen.

“Hey, how is Business?” Brenda asks cheerfully.

“Same old same old get clothes from your company sell the clothes get money then repeat,” Charles says laughing.

“Don’t I know it,” She says and sits down at the table on Charles's side.

Laxus walks in. Laxus was a slaver through and through doing sly, shady, and dark deals on the side with his men called the Fallen Angels with their main base in the Outskirts. The Outskirt was a place you could run to if you were done with Division and properly die out there because it was so dangerous with everything wanting to kill you. It is a vast land of desert sand and caves. Laxus once told us that some of his soldiers were Business and Machinery until they came to his side. Charles and his Business associates knew about it and did not like it. To Charles they were deserters and they were weak so Charles and Laxus would not talk about that uncomfortable conversation. The Fallen Angeles is a gang that has lived past the Division rules and order. There have always been constant arguments and fights between Division and Fallen Angeles and other Outskirts members. The Fallen Angels did not listen or care to Division rule, which is probably why there have been so many fights. That made Laxus a target at school but the group protected him but in reality, Laxus could take care of himself. Laxus was a quiet one if you did not say anything to him he would not bother you. Laxus told us why he was quiet and it was because If you were loud people would know your intentions but if you were quiet you were unpredictable. A little tactic that Charles even stated using in Business. Charles was the first to befriend Laxus due to his ability to “find” extra goods he would “find” in the Outskirts that Charles could trade and get more reputation in the Business. Eventually, everyone came along and they enjoyed his friendship. Laxus wears a dark grey baseball hat on his head, a dark grey overcoat with a black buttoned-down shirt undershirt, with a dark gray mask over his mouth, black pants, and dark gray high boots with dirt and some blood on them. Laxus sits away from Charles on the other side.

“How are the Outskirts?” Charles asks interested.

“Fine just killing, madness, and anarchy,” Laxus replies casually.

Marissa Jobs comes walking in with her casual clothes and spray can color on the ends of her brown hair. Marissa is a very creative artistic person who excelled at the arts and lately, she has gotten into the spray cans. Marissa was only a handful of people that enjoyed school mostly everyone wanted to leave and move on. Marissa made school bearable with her murals around the school they were really pretty challenging the dark world everyone lived in. She was always busy coloring or drawing something. She always wears her goggles, a white shirt and blue cut jean shorts with multi colors on them. Basically, all her clothes are stained with a mixed assortment of colors. Marissa has even started her own spray paint business. Charles has asked if Marissa wanted to be a part of his Business team in the marketing department but she kindly says no every time. Marissa hats when you call her art graffiti because she puts work in her art and it is special so there are times people need to be reminded the hard way that it is art. Marissa sits next to Brenda on Charles's side.

“How is art going?” Charles asks.

“Good, working on some orders and a few new projects,” She says.

Chelsie Clay comes next and slumps down tired away from Charles on the other side with Laxus. Chelsie has worked at the club ever since she was barely a teenager but she is a hard worker, working as a cook making some very nice creative foods. Her home life and experiences were not always the best for her so she looked for comfort and found the group. Chelsie would not say what happened with other friends or at home but the group could get an idea of the difficulties. Everyone always thought she should start her own restaurant, it is still in the works she says. Chelsie was a good friend with a lot going on in her life but she would always pull through. Chelsie wears cooking clothes like having brown worn boots, stained and ripped blue jeans, a black hairnet, and a white apron over her long green sleeved shirt. She wears this because it is her work clothes but also the only clothes she has.

“I hate work,” Chelsie mumbles with her head facing down saying it to the table.

“Work is not supposed to be something you should usually enjoy,” Charles says sarcastically.

Chris Stone sits down next in his casual yet business looking attire next to Charles Marissa and Brenda. His clothes are like Charles but Chris matches the Spot which is a black mixed with dark purple. Chris is one of Charles's best friends and Chris is the owner of The Spot. Funny story of how Chris became the owner of the Spot. In the middle of their senior year, the Spot was about to close down and his friend’s really liked the place so they wanted to try something to keep it going. They all really liked the place so Chris wanted to buy it but there were other buyers wanting the Spot who had more money than Chris did. The buyers got together including Chris and Charles. They played a card game for The Spot with lots of money on that game. At the end of the game, Chris won the place but the problem was he did not have the money so Charles gave Chris the money to win the game and keep the Spot going. The really funny part was no one wound up dead in the end.

“Nice remodeling,” Charles says looking at the chairs being fixed and some of the old panels taken out and ready for new ones.

“Thanks. The new chairs are fine but the walls still need to be changed up, the color is dull and the walls are peeling,” Chris explains feeling proud of the work in progress.

Josh Vlan comes walking in next with his sniper rifle hanging on his back attached to a rope and his ragged clothes and his long scruffy black beard. Josh was a complicated case because back in high school in their freshman year Josh was not doing so well with grades and he was a loner who did not have any friends. Back when they were in high school Outskirts Laxus men the Fallen Angeles and a few other gangs were fighting hard against the Division. Some say that fighting is still going on today. Division promised any student who joins would get any job of their choosing as well as pay benefits, health, and free housing. So Josh left and joined to fight for Division. Josh did come back at the beginning of their senior year and he was broken. Josh saw some very cruel and bloody things and the result was a lot of mental and physiological problems. Acting out aggressively, panic attacks, and threatening to kill someone or himself multiple times. Division government was “busy” at the time so they could not give those promises the soldiers hoped for or the help they needed. Josh could not hold down a job or remember anything short term. The group met up with Josh and helped Josh pass by the skin of his teeth. Josh still has some hard feelings about Division and Outskirts. Josh is wearing black scuffed boots, long dirty brown ripped pants, a brown jacket, and a short-sleeved green smudged shirt. Josh sits across from Charles next to Chelsea.

“How is it going?” Charles asks trying to make conversation.

“Good,” Josh says quietly and he grabs a beer.

“Okay then,” Charles says to himself.

Darin Corter marches in next with his military amour over his long-sleeved shirt and military pants. He was athletic in school and the group knew him but they never had the time to get very close to him because Darin was busy with sports. Darin like Marissa was more involved in school than the rest of the group with extra things they could do and Darin was in football, wrestling, anything he could get his hands on really. No wonder why Division wanted him to be a soldier. Governmental style soldier armor is this kind of black body amour over their Division uniforms that protect them from any kind of bullet and plasma weaponry. Important people in their felids have their names and what Division section they are in. So for Darin whenever he is not in Division military uniform which is rare. On his left side of his chest has the word soldier and on his right side of his chest his last name. Above the person’s name is the Division symbol which is a circle with a line in the middle cutting the circle in half. Division uniform is a dark blue short-sleeved colored t-shirt, dark blue pants, and black formal shoes.

“How is protecting Division going?” Charles asks.

“Good only two minor infractions,” Darin explains sitting across from Charles. Chelsea decides to slide over to Charles's side giving other people a space to sit.

Sabrina Gates comes in next and she was a very smart person in school with all her classes and work ethic. Sabrina kept working and become the Division’s first psychological evaluator. She was in charge of the many health and physiological issues in the Division. Sabrina sits next to Charles. Sabrina wears a short-sleeved dark blue colored t-shirt, dark blue pants, and black formal shoes. For Sabrina on her left side of her shirt is the word psychology and her last name on her right.

“How is physiologically reading the residents of Division going?” Charles asks joking.

“Great I am only eight more residents from controlling everyone’s mind,” Sabrina says sarcastically with a fake evil laugh. “But in reality, I am helping them deal with their problems which is a lot,”

Jack Hittlar strolls in with his Machinery work clothes and tattoos of past bets and dares to start at his wrist going up both arms to his shoulders. Jack would fight and curse at just about everyone and that got him into some trouble with some of the Business kids. Charles would always be by Jack's side when the fists came flying. Charles and Jack together could solve and start just about anything. Jack was always difficult getting to know on a personal level and trust would always be questioned from time to time but when knives go to guns Jack would always be there no matter what. Jack and his parents are part of the Machinery part of the Division which would include but not limited to making weapons, repairing weapons, making ridders, repairing ridders, making amour, repairing amour, making buildings, and repairing buildings. A lot of making and repairing would go to Machinery. Charles tried to remember how they become friend’s and it honestly just happened naturally they did not care that it was a crime. Machinery clothes are thick brown boots, dark brown pants, and a black thick shirt. Other items they would wear that would keep them safe from injuries are thick black work gloves, overalls, and a welder’s mask.

              “How is Machinery?” Charles asks.

“Borin’ and stupid just like you,” Jack laughs hitting Charles in the arm and then sits down across from him next to Darin with Charles rubbing his bruised shoulder.

Lastly, Angie Jobs walks in with her Division uniform wearing a dark blue colored t-shirt, dark blue pants, and black formal shoes. She was a cool friend and a great leader but a very chill laid back person. Angie was third in command in all of Division behind the President Josh Larmona, Goliath Starr, and her. She would always put on a serious and sometimes boring face with the job but Charles could tell she loved the job good days and bad. Angie’s job is Division diplomat which is vital to Division. Every so often Machinery would argue with Division residents and the diplomat instead of getting involved would stand by and the argument would eventually die. The Division has a more hands-off approach when it comes to violence. It is not until it gets real when Division steps in sometimes. Division does not really do a lot when there is a fight and that is also why Angie decided to get the job a lot of sitting down and doing nothing. Angie sits on the side of Charles.

“Thank you all for coming, I like that you all keep coming every month like always. It means a lot to me,” Charles says standing up.

“Free drinks I’m there,” Jack says taking another swig of his beer.

Angie rolls her eyes in disgust thinking “Idiot”.

“Our lives are busy and stressful but what matters here is that we are friends. People will say things and lie to us but what we have right here is real,” Charles says passing more drinks around. Charles looks at the table seeing his friends Jack, Darin, Josh, Laxus, and Chelsie on one side of the table and Charles, Sabrina, Chris, Brenda, and Marissa.

“Ayeeee,” Everyone else says agreeing. That is how the rest of the night went with laughing, cheering, dancing, and many more drinks as the night went on. That night the friends will remember this night for the rest of their lives…or until the next time they meet.
