Prologue

I saved the world.

The cool breeze in the atmosphere gently touches my skin and give me a shiver. It was supposed to make me feel calm and good, but the efforts were in vain. I could only hear the wind rustling through the pin drop silence, nothing but a harmonious melody of victory. The beautiful clouds are gradually changing their colors with the passage of time, making the whole sky looks like a huge color palette with violet and blues merging together.

I could hear the chanting of praises and joy of glory from my fellow comrades. Tears of happiness were streaming down their faces, and all those innocent civilians are embracing each other. Today marked an end of a never-ending hierarchy, and a battle that will permanently be written in all history books. The Battle of Heavens and Earths have reached its end, with a sweet outcome that paid our unwavering efforts.

I could proudly stand tall, wearing the cape of a war-hero and be rewarded accordingly. My name will be mentioned for the entirety of mankind's survival, and people would look up to my steel statues and thank me for my sacrifices. I could live the rest of my lives resting in the peaceful countryside, peeling fruits all day, and not having to worry about a thing anymore.

I finally reached the ending I dreamed of. My most-awaited moment. To finally crush them with my very own bare hands and avenge all the sufferings I have endured along the journey.

But, then, why?

I looked down to the ground, watching as my tears dropped to the ground, one after the other. I lost count of time of how long I had been standing like that, just freely letting my rivers of tears came falling down. The blood in my hands are still warm, and the dirts in my fingernails are still all very familiar to me. My silent sob slowly turns to a disheartening whimper, as I crashed onto my knees and cried my whole heart out. The tears forming within my eyes are making my vision blurry, and that is the least I could ever asked for.

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

Shakily, my bruised, dirty hand reached for the motionless body before me, touching its face so endearingly. Contrasting the warmth that the blood in my hands offered, its owner's skins are cold and pale, and the eyes stared blankly ahead, void of all emotion. The previous beautiful smile and hopeful eyes that always shone through its face are nowehere to be seen, and that deepened the invisible wound I am suffering.

The laughter, the whispers, and the words of reassurance I had always craved for, now lost its origins, and honestly, what is all this honor good for?

My fingers traced down the lifeless face, admiring it for the very last time. Its long eyelashes does not flicker anymore, and its pretty nose does not exhale warmth anymore. My waves of tears came streaming down, every droplets falling onto its face.

I killed my world.

My only world that served a purpose in my life. My only world that gave me the strength to move forward. My only world that never failed to brighten my darkness. My irreplaceable, one and only world.

The love of my suffocating life. The music to my painful sorrow. The hope to my grieving despair.

I took it away with my very own two hands. I ended the beautiful melody of my ugly notes.

My fist clenched firmly as I punched the innocent ground, rapidly and repeatedly, crushing the flat land a whole new hole. My cracked voice screamed a name, rapidly and repeatedly, wishing that if I was loud enough, my hopeless request would be heard. The tears flowing down do not show a sign of stopping and neither do I intend to stop.

The blood of my world is still fresh on my hands.

The beating heart of my world is still soaked with its blood.

I saved the world.

By killing my world.
