Prologue

----------------------------------------

Demiurge, Is a problematic teenager- A 16-year-old teenager.

He lived a life in satisfaction without a father, but took it rather easily without a fuss. He lived the life of a middle-class citizen with good education in a public school. His life is rather bland compared to his classmates, most of them even found him boring.

And he took satisfaction within his mediocre life.

Demiurge is quite an interesting child, preferring to watch the surroundings in utter silence, subtly avoiding attention as he lived.

In his younger years, his mother took him into a hospital to ask what's wrong with her child and discovered that he lacked quite a lot of EQ.

Compared to the others, His Emotional Intelligence is rather stunted, it stopped developing at the age of 3. Although it would be problematic in his later life, the doctor says it supposed to be fine as it didn't really impaired his ability to feel them.

And he was... unsure of it?

He knew what's Sadness is. The grim of sorrow and the thrilling excitement of success.

He knew of envy. The ability to feel jealous or perhaps, envious of something you don't have and Greed. The ability to take something to fulfill your craving needs.

He knows of them. But not know of them.

Although he doesn't feel them as much people supposed to. And knew them through education instead of experience them. He always felt empty despite the several events unfold in front of him.

But thankfully can still experience them despite how minuscule it is, he could feel the water down version of them.

He knows the feeling of curiosity instead of wonder.

He knows the feeling of annoyance instead of fear or sorrow.

And the list goes on. But most of the time. He felt.

Indifferent.

Although he can't lust on captivating ladies, he was a bit thankful for he viewed them as obstacles that hinder his progress towards life.

For example.

He didn't understand why people loved sex so much. Sure it was satisfying in a way. But that satisfaction was thrown into curiosity over wanton lust.

And that curiosity is over new things.

And he discovered that it was messy, time-consuming, and led to countless problems, and yet people sought it so much they would destroy relationships they had been in for decades for some, and men would trade wealth for the momentary enjoyment of being inside a woman.

Rape he understood even less, why risk losing your entire life for a moment of pleasure?

Were they so short-sighted as to prioritise a burst of pleasure over their long term happiness?

He had no interest in it anymore. Even if most people do.

But that's natural as far Biology work.

You might be wondering.

Why am I sharing my life story you might ask?

That's because I'm bored.

Bored enough to talk at myself alone in this damn empty corridor.

For I died like a fool when that drunken driver of that truck squashed me like a bug.

Just remembering that unpleasant event just... irks him.

Death is very painful and boring, even for his standards. Having your insides compressed by a truck is very unpleasant.

Bones fractured, broken and mangled.

Internal and external wounds gushing warm blood as they were being punctured by your own bones.

Lungs damaged made you cough and breathe with blood.

And died in major blood loss while being aware of your surroundings and state of being.

All in all.

It was an experience worth forgetting, but alas.

Such events would surely itch inside his skull forever, as such a memorable events like that is impossible to forget.

Sighing in exhaustion.

Demiurge had already inspected his surroundings and his state of being.

He still has his raven black hair and eyes, evidently well-conditioned along with his porcelain skin from the obvious lack of outdoor activities. He still retain his lean body made out of healthy diet and exercise. As much confusing how he survived such a catastrophe.

Now he felt grateful and all but...eh, that he's alive. But the place he currently sat is far more intriguing. His sharp eyes inspect the surroundings with curiosity, he long concluded that wandering aimlessly into the endless void was not... a good idea.

Besides... sitting in the smooth marble floor is much more preferable than wasting his time on such things. Wow he's easily bored. ( sarcasm. )

[ Well that's certainly amusing.]

A voice filled with amusement rang inside his head disrupt his introspection as he jerk up at the sudden intrusion inside his head.

Stolen content warning: this content belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences.

[ Woah~ Feisty aren't ya? ]

His eyes wandered around in confusion, up and down. Side by side and relax a bit at the lack of life.

'A recorder? No... an intercom? From the context of his words made the possibility of me being watched.

Hidden CCTV cameras?' He thought out of amusement.

Was he perhaps kidnapped?

No. That Doesn't make sense, he has no valuable information nor material to warrant such things.

He didn't remember crossing path with criminal activity to warrant his silence. Such as drug trafficking etc. He made sure his path is straight and clean where the possibility of such things is slim as possible.

Besides. Even if he's an atheist. He long concludes that he died, his squashed innards can attest to that. Because the possibility of him surviving that crash is close to finding the origins of Dark energy of the universe. ( Yes, it's a thing. )

He blink.

'I'm Surprisingly thinking a lot of stuff nowadays.'

[ Nah I'm not using your mortal technology, I'm using magic-And yes, I can read your mind.]

"I see." He spoke knowingly. 'No, I don't.' His mind says otherwise.

[ Yes you don't- oh I see...]

"Looks like you can read mind after all."

Demiurge lied on the floor with an aloof expression.

"If I have to guess. You're God? No... that doesn't make sense..." he murmured the last part.

"A man who has a position that has access towards the circle reincarnation/life and death or something... else? Like an angel of death?"

[ Yes. ]

Demiurge frowned a bit.

" That doesn't exactly answer my question. "

[Sure, why not.]

His left eyebrow twitches along with his rising anger-

'Wait a minute... Boredom? Animosity?'

He thought in surprise.

Thinking back his earlier actions, he finally noticed that he was rather

Expressive toward his peculiar circumstances compared to his experience.

Boredom was a thing he seriously embraced the most as an interesting life, Is a cursed life. Something he learned from the surroundings.

There's also the fact that he is easily agitated at trifle things, such as silly banters etcetera.

'Well... not in anger, but more of an annoyance at the unexpected rebuttal.'

Such simple things couldn't warrant his attention due too how used he was of what he was. Simple things like that could've easily ignored and left in the dark forever, simple things. That could now affect him.

Gathering his bearings. He responded at the voice inside his head.

" You... did you mess my mind? Drugs?"

[ ...Unexpected answer...] it murmurs.

[ But yes, in a way... a necessary action If I say so myself, Creating an Identical appearances is far easier than healing your old one.

Think of it as a Copy-paste of your old aesthetic design, although it could only copy your outward appearance. Most people couldn't tell the difference unless they noticed something is off within them.

Besides, it's rather bland to be devoid of emotion, not interesting at all~]

"Then I must thank you for your generosity" he continued.

"But I must correct you that Detachment is not devoid of emotions, it simply means being aware of your emotions and not letting it rule you. Whether joy or sorrow-"

[ Bah! Fuckin denial I tell you. ] He intervenes. [ Let's cut to the chase already, I still have 1 million souls to work with.]

Demiurge got the gist of it, a being who has a position over life and death/reincarnation is obviously an exhausting job. If his meeting with him now is an example of that. He dreads to imagine having to socialize oneself on millions if not, Billions of organisms. Surely such beings aren't easily to be exhausted. but surely it was mentally exhausting.

He's not an idiot to think that Humanity are the only beings that has souls.

[ And you are correct once again boy. Organisms such as Reptiles and Bugs are included. Basically, those that have complex biological form.

Even Extraterrestrial one's, but worry not for I am not alone suffering in this dead end job, having a single Angel of Death - or so you humans preferred- is simply insufficient and inefficient to fix the problem. ]

Demiurge blink his eyes and hummed approvingly.

"So what happens now?" He asks seriously.

Surely spending the being's time with his insignificant life form isn't worth it.

It already announced he has a million more to meet, something he could praise as the number of organisms in the universe is simply staggering.

That is, of course, aliens included.

[ Now. I'll get straight to the point, the overabundance of souls transporting into the true afterlife is simply too much to handle my boy.

Even for us.

Overpopulation is a problem, and we need to fix it. ]

The voice let the words sink for a bit for Demiurge to understand.

[ So we decided to terminate the extras. Why you might ask?

Because it's far more Effective and Cost-Efficient in Mana. Not to mention Easier compared to the other methods we previously thought of. ]

The being waited for his response.

But what's there to say or feel besides acceptance?

Emotions.

As annoying as it was. Is still Welcome inside his heart. And all he felt is...

Tiredness and an unexpected Satisfaction. For his soul is nothing but a Remnant of what he was. Heck even the being reveled that it wasn't even his body.

His soul is nothing but a Remnant of what he once was.

He nore or less understood the concept of Life and Death.

For him that is, in a scientific view.

Life is full of treacherous and wondrous things. And Death is just a destination for you to rest.

He was just glad to truly Experience the satisfaction of oneself even for a brief moment.

" I understand-"

[ But! ]

He was prepared of his existence obliterated, but the Being in charge of reincarnation interrupted him once again.

[ I have a different Plan on you.]

"Pardon me?"

[ Simply put, You amused me. ]

"..." He just stared in bemusement.

[ Do you know how refreshing it is to find a Calm and Reasonable Human Soul?

Golly, most of the mortals I met is very annoying!

All they do is whine and whine, shouting or crying out of regret etc. ]

"Well..." he started awkwardly. "Humans tend to be emotional especially in their demise. "

[ Their regret is not losing their bloody virginity. ] It states without emotions like his previous monotone.

Demiurge just blinked twice before he scowls in disbelief.

"What an stupid reason, then again everyone has different opinions..."

[ Right?! Not only that, but they're also demanding! Demanding.

Those entitled mongrels have actually dared to order me like sone sort dog to give them blessings and send them in another universe scot free! ME! ] he shouted angrily.

Demiurge is silent, he felt his mouth unable to utter a single word at the awkward atmosphere.

Although he too, can't comprehend those Blockheads.

For one.

Not only they are hormonal idiots who talk before think, but also self-centred brats.

Demanding from an Anomalous God-like -He assumed- entity without thinking for possible consequences? That's asking for trouble.

Demiurge just gave an incredulous look at the subject.

'Was that another reason why they wanted to terminate the souls?

Well... not that he can fault them.

Humanity are truly an Idiot species no matter how much you bend them. Perhaps other beings to, but it all depends on their upbringing. '

"Let me guess... Teenagers." He sarcastically jokes.

[ Eh. Most of them are younglings, speaking of teenagers, what makes you different to them? ]

" Please don't compare me to those barbarians, All they know is non stop bickering who are too lazy to improve for their future." He replied in disgust. He felt ridiculed that he was just compared by those... those deprived teenagers.

[... I see, what a pity. Perhaps if only we met in different circumstances, things would've been much more different. ]

The so-called angel of death genuinely likes the mortal.

If not for the fact that the afterlife is filled to the brim, he could've given the mortal a free entry. The insect is just that interesting.

At least He's far more fun to accompany compared to his busy comrades.

[ Hmm... perhaps things Could be different...] He thought out loud.

[ Hey mortal, How would like a second chance?]

The Angel of Death asks towards the bemused man.
