Chapter 2 Hello New World

Grrrrump! Hitting the barrier of the new reality was like smacking into a wall of latex mats. The barrier seemed to flex slightly before reforming back into shape pushing Marcus back a small bit. He clung to the wall as best as he could, forcing his will and what was left of his outside shell to somehow grab onto the smooth surface. The trip had been grueling. Marcus had to sacrifice part of his soul to maintain the shield of magic around himself. His soul which had grown with all the knowledge he was able to acquire. The void continued even now to wear down on him, trying to tear him apart. To even make it this far he had to sacrifice parts of his soul which contained the power to make and mold the barrier. Without a body to produce more of such energy he was unable to replenish or grow his mana reserves relying solely on sacrificing chunks of his large bloated soul. Marcus tried to sense through the surface he was clinging to but was unable to sense anything at all.

“Well this should be it.” Marcus thought.

Pushing a strand of his shielded soul shell into the barrier of the new reality, Marcus watched as it deformed then with a muted

“Pop!”

he was through. Instantly he felt the push back from the Will of this reality. Using the spell he had specifically searched for before leaving his old home. He sent out a pulse wave of magic one that searched for a specific set of circumstances. This pulse also seemed to confuse The Will’s instincts, making it pause its constant pushing.

“Ping!” The spell had worked, it had found something and now was latching onto his form dragging it toward his new body. As he was pulled fully into the new reality the sudden onslaught of the Will almost broke him apart. Gritting his metaphysical teeth, Marcus cut off and launched the last parts of himself that he was willing to lose. First went most of his knowledge about the different civilizations of life in his home universe, and their technological achievements. Next mathematical and higher tier scientific knowledge was shedded. Marcus was forced to use most of anything above a basic college level as a mere decoy for the Will to go after instead of himself. His spell continued to drag him along toward his new future as parts and pieces of his past were sent hurtling behind him. As he approached a large planet which hosted a variety of colors from blue and green to white and gray, the will seemed to have finished with his decoys and locked back onto him; it was there in an instant almost completely stopping his forward momentum. Marcus knew he needed one last sacrifice to make it to the finish line. He searched himself, not wanting to change who he was he was hesitant to take his personal memories before this all happened he also did not want to lose his magical knowledge but sacrifices needed to be made. Marcus looked through his knowledge of magic, gathering much of the different fields he had not specified prior to leaving his home reality. Magic of rituals, necromancy, most of his knowledge on souls keeping only what he needed to acquire his new body. He pruned his knowledge of summoning and curses, the knowledge of almost everything that had happened after awakening in his old reality beside the few he had specifically learned for his new life. The Will grabbed these pieces of soul shell quickly allowing him to slip forward some more but he knew that would not be enough. Looking through what was left he tossed out his knowledge of Void magics, most of his knowledge on space magic keeping just enough he might be able to puzzle out some of it. Marcus was suddenly thrown forward when the will immediately released him to pounce on the Void knowledge that he discarded. The large planet loomed ever larger as he approached. Shooting through the atmosphere Marcus watched as land and oceans blurred by, barely able to make out larger cities or castles as he flew over them. Suddenly a large mountain range that seemed to stretch for infinity was taking up his whole view, the peaks rose far above the earth obscured by the cloud cover dominating this part of the planet. A small city nestled in a valley between two of the smaller outer peaks of the range was his destination, more specifically the old weathered castle that sat on one side of the city up against the sheer face of the mountain like someone had carved the city and castle right out of its side. Marcus caught only a glimpse before he flew straight through the castle walls and suddenly stopped. Marcus was quick to check his surroundings, finding himself inside a cozy little room with a young very pregnant woman asleep upon a large four poster bed. Using some of his remaining energy he checked his spells, finding that the woman was dying. She had a fever and her body was failing from some sort of wasting sickness. The baby had not been able to make it and was already dead, but if he acted fast enough he could save the woman, who he now considered would be his new mother.

“Hmm… ok first things first before The Will gets me, got to start the spell off.” Marcus Thought.

Casting his spell he first healed both his new body and that of his new mother making sure that it would fix and correct any issues they both might have. He then began the next wave changing his new body to accommodate the usage of mana, not that he had to do much this world already had magic but he did strengthen his body’s ability to wield and produce mana hopefully this would be enough as he could sense that the will had almost finished with his little distraction. Marcus next put together the bonding spell which would cement his soul and knowledge with his new body. He was able to activate the spell just before The Will turned toward him, feeling a pulling sensation on his very being Marcus found himself suddenly unable to see or hear anything except a rhythmic thumping. “Thump!... Thump!... Thump!”

“What is that?” He thought.

His thoughts were foggy, unable to fully manifest before he slipped into darkness.
