First Battle

Liam heard the roar and froze up. However, after a few seconds, he was able to move again but he didn’t have the time to dodge the paw that was coming towards his face. Liam saw the world turned around then the ground coming towards him. Liam tasted the dirt then coughed some blood. The bear looked at Liam with a shocking look. He saw a young boy getting up after taking two of his strongest hits.

Liam got up and spat some blood on the side. He looked into the bear eyes and slowly took out his dagger from his back. Holding his knife with both his hands, he was at his limit. He looked at the bear once more and saw the light coming from the back of the bear. He saw the exit but it was guarded by this nasty bear.

Liam face grew darker when he saw the smirk on the bears face. The light showed the true form of the bear. He had black fur with golden stripes all over his body. He looked like a tiger with a body of a bear. He had golden eyes with a hint of joy when staring at Liam. He knew that he was nothing more than a play thing.

Now facing a weak child, the bear relaxed his muscle in order to enjoy his new toy. Liam noticed that the bear started to not take him seriously. Thinking that he’ll die, Liam threw himself with the dagger facing the bear heart. Without knowing, Liam horn started to shine and showed a dim blue light. The bear tried to react to it but he couldn’t move. It felt like a giant boulder fell on his back which restricted his movement. Liam thrust the dagger into the bear organ.

The bear roared of pain and started to bleed form his heart. He would have never thought that this kid would have stabbed one of his weak points. He had some weak points but it was hard to hit them. Liam stabbed just under a golden stripe that was protecting the bear’s heart. It was a small line between 2 golden stripes. The golden stripes were like an exoskeleton that protected his vital spots on his body. However, Liam was small and had the perfect angle to stab his heart.

The bear would’ve never guessed that he would’ve died in the hands of a little boy. Liam stared at the bear and sat down. He looked at the corpse and rest on it. He fell asleep without any other thoughts. While Liam was sleeping, he’s necklace started to shine for a while before losing once more the brilliance. Liam woke up several hours later because his stomach started to growl.

He felt sore but he was grateful that his body was tough. He can move both his arms once more and took action. He took out his dagger and skinned the bear. He went to gather some dry wood and started a fire. He cooked the meat and ate until his stomach felt like exploding. He took the fur and wore it like an oversize cape to keep his body warm.

After some weeks, Liam started his journey once more.  He started to walk towards the west once more. When dusk started to appear, Liam saw the outskirt of the forest. When he came out of the forest, he saw a road in front of him. The road always lead to a city, Liam decided to follow it.

Liam looked like a bear walking along side of the road. He wore the bear skin like a hoodie. Nobody was on the road. Night swiftly came giving no time to Liam to get ready. He took some branch lying around and started a fire. He wrapped himself with the bear skin and fell asleep. When he woke up, he saw some people watching him.

Liam didn’t know that when he was sleeping, some carriage was passing the road. The driver saw a strange thing beside the road. He saw a bear sleeping beside a fire camp. He stopped the carriage in order to avoid the danger but he noticed it had a strange figure. It looked like a starved bear that barely had meat on him. He took a closer look and notices the face of a young boy.

“Good morning young man” said the driver.

“Who are you?” said Liam with suspicious tone.

Liam noticed three people coming towards them. Liam stands up and takes a look to the 4 people in front of him. The driver was an old man around his 50s; he had grey hair with green eyes. He was wearing a top hat and a black penguin suit. Next to the driver, there were 2 children and a lady. The lady had blond hair with green eyes. She was wearing a white summer dress while holding an umbrella. The two children were a girl and a boy. They looked like twins and they looked like the same age has him. They were both blond with green eyes. The girl was wearing a yellow doll dress while the guy was wearing a white polo with black pants.

“M’lady, this young man seems lost” said the driver.

“Hello, my name is Madame Hera L’or” said the lady with a cold voice.

“Good morning Madame Hera, my name is Liam Kaizer” said Liam with an indifferent voice.

“Hey, I’m Cindy L’Or and this is my younger brother, Tristan L’or” said the girl with a smile.

“Hey…” said Tristan shyly.

“May I ask where you come from and why are you in the middle of the road” said the driver.

“I’m traveling, I’m from Green Lac, I want to learn about this world” said Liam.

“Where are your parents?” said the driver.

“They both died” said Liam while looking down.

“Want to come with us” said Cindy.

Cindy looked at her mom with a puppy eyes, Cindy knows her mother can’t refuse anything when it comes to her children. She was cruel towards the world but she loved her children way too much.

“We do need a new butler in the mansion, I shall agree this time” said Mme Hera.

Cindy jumped out of joy while Liam looked at them with puzzle eyes. He didn’t know what was happening. He got hired without even knowing it. Liam followed them without saying another word. He didn’t have anywhere to go nor did he know where he was. Cindy walked beside Liam and stared at him until he felt uncomfortable. He realized that Cindy was giving him the googly eyes. Tristan just rushed in the carriage and sat down. When everyone was in the carriage, the driver took off. Cindy sat down beside Liam while facing her mother and brother. Nobody was talking until Cindy asked a question which broke the ice.

“Where did you get that fur?” said Cindy with puzzled eyes.

“I killed the bear and took it” said Liam.

The L’or family showed a surprised expression on their face when they heard Liam answer. Mme Hera started to regret her decision. She thought that if he can kill a bear, he can kill them without trouble. However, Cindy was amazed by Liam. She admired Liam even more. Tristan swiftly slides next to his mother while giving worried look. Liam wasn’t fazed by their reaction.

“Want to be my personal bodyguard?” asked Cindy with a smile.

Liam nodded silently and looked at Mme Hera to see if she would deny the request of her daughter.  Mme Hera just nodded without saying anything. Cindy jumped out of joy and hugged the arm of Liam. Liam thought to himself that it’ll help him survive in this world if he were to follow them.

Few hours has passed since they took Liam in the carriage. Liam knew they were heading to the L’or estate. The L’or family went to ‘Jade city’ to shop for school accessory. Now, they were heading back home. They arrived in the afternoon at the estate. It was huge yellow and white mansion with 4 floors. It was overwhelming since Liam comes from a simple household and he had never seen anything like that.

When the carriage arrived in front of the building, two rows of maid were waiting for them. The head butler opened the door of the carriage and greeted them. Mme Hera step out first following by Tristan then Cindy who dragged Liam with her.

“Welcome home” said the butler while bowing.
