"Choose Crusader Strike."
Although Alex really wanted to choose Frost Strike, after some consideration, he opted for Crusader Strike. The reason was simple. He could imagine that the people in the main world had likely discovered the bodies of the knights he had killed.
Alex wasn't sure how many clues they could gather from the corpses, but they would certainly obtain some information. If he learned Frost Strike, it would easily attract the knights' attention. Since Death Knights and the Lich King were connected, it wouldn't take a genius to figure out the relationship between them after seeing Alex fight a few times.
Instead of handing the paladins of the main world an obvious link to the Lich King, it was better to mislead them. After all, someone using holy powers wouldn’t be associated with an undead king.
"Ding!"
As soon as Alex made his choice, he heard a light sound in his ear. Then, he felt a slight dizziness, followed by new information flooding his mind. A new system prompt appeared before him.
【Crusader Strike Learned】
【Skills: Crusader Strike】
【Proficiency: D (Beginner)】
【Upgradeable】
Upgradeable?
Seeing this, Alex paused and opened the interface. Beneath Crusader Strike was a gray progress bar divided into five segments. Alex reached out and tapped it, and another prompt appeared before him.
【Use dimension points to increase proficiency level?】
"No."
Without hesitation, Alex declined the upgrade. As the system's designer, he knew the value of dimension points. According to his previous design, ten dimension points could summon a soul stone.
His Map of Myriad Dimensions was like a mobile game system without microtransactions. Common sense dictated that since he couldn’t buy more, he had to save them for summoning.
This was the self-discipline of an unlucky player.
After completing this, Alex closed the system and looked around again. Although it seemed like he had been deep in thought for a long time, only half a minute had passed. The militia began dealing with the fallen zombies, preparing for another battle.
Their spirits had lifted a bit from the recent victory, but everyone still wore grim expressions. To Alex, this was normal.
If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
The outside was teeming with undead, and Tristram's forces were insufficient. They might survive for a while behind the town's defenses, but if the undead united, Tristram would fall.
They were merely delaying the inevitable.
"Boom, boom, boom..."
Suddenly, heavy footsteps sounded. The militia quickly stopped what they were doing and looked toward the noise.
Soon, a figure appeared. She wore heavy white armor and carried a sword and shield. Recognizing this classic outfit, Alex didn't need to guess her identity.
A Crusader! The Nephalem had arrived!
Under Alex's watchful eye, the Crusader approached Captain Rumford, set down her shield, and nodded at him.
"I am a Crusader of the Zakarum faith. I saw a falling star land in this town."
"Crusader?"
Hearing the name, Captain Rumford seemed to relax. He shrugged and replied, "It crashed through the roof of the old cathedral. There was only one survivor—Leah. You should talk to her..."
But before Rumford could finish, a militia member screamed loudly, "Captain, they’re coming again!"
"What?"
Hearing the militia's words, Captain Rumford was startled, and Alex quickly turned his head to look. Under their watchful eyes, the ground began to rise, and one by one, grey-skinned zombies crawled out, shambling towards them.
"Damn it!"
Seeing this, Captain Rumford frowned and then charged forward.
"Let's deal with this wave of zombies first, then I'll open the gate for you. Everyone else, let's go!"
Hearing Captain Rumford's command, Alex tightened his grip on Frostmourne. This time, his eyes gleamed with excitement as he looked at the zombies.
He had just learned Crusader Strike! Could he not handle these zombies now?
With this thought, Alex stepped forward to face one of the zombies, raising Frostmourne high and swinging it down with force.
Crusader Strike!
As the skill activated, Alex saw a brilliant golden light emanate from Frostmourne’s blade. When his sword struck the zombie, he felt a surge of holy power explode from Frostmourne.
"Boom!!"
Alex felt like he was wielding a giant hammer rather than a sword. The zombie hit by Frostmourne's holy power exploded, its incredibly tough body cracking open.
Golden light shot from the cracks, and a holy cross appeared on the zombie's body. The zombie let out a wail, flew backward, and shattered into pieces with a "bang."
"..............."
The entire process took less than five seconds, leaving Alex dumbfounded.
Was this Crusader Strike? With such cool special effects and brilliant flashes, you’re telling me this is a basic attack? Was this the effect of high-quality graphics? Or did Arthas practice a royal limited edition of Crusader Strike?
The visual style was all wrong!
Alex's Crusader Strike took down one zombie, but it also drew the attention of the others. Several zombies abandoned their original targets and staggered towards him. Although these zombies didn't seem very threatening individually, their numbers made them troublesome.
But Alex was no longer the same as before. With the knowledge of Crusader Strike, his mind was filled with combat techniques.
Instead of retreating, he seized a gap before the zombies could form a circle, raising Frostmourne and charging at another target.
The dazzling holy light appeared on Frostmourne again. This time, Alex could feel the sword's resentment and frustration through the hilt. No wonder, it was a Scourge artifact now being used to fight undead—and with holy light no less!
Frostmourne now exuded a vibe of a noble lady forced into a life of crime.
However, Alex had no time to comfort his sword. He focused on the zombie in front of him, slashing it away with another strike.
He rolled to avoid the attacks of two zombies behind him, then gripped his sword tightly and swung it backward. A golden light swept through, knocking the two zombies away.
Just as Alex caught his breath and prepared to continue fighting, a shout of "For Zakarum!" echoed. In the next moment, he saw the Crusader in white armor, shield raised, charge into the battlefield.
