Jax threw his body down to the ground exhausted from the days travels. The fire was lit, the stew was cooking, and there was nothing left to do but survive the night. With the fire and temple walls around him that should prove to be easy enough. The crystals glimmered and dimmed above, not nearly as bright as they had been when he was a child. Well, technically he still was a child, but life had caused a maturity growth spirt. A rustle and a screach in the distance were noises that Jax was fairly used to, it didn't bother him much, it might as well be white noise. The sounds of the jungle were soothing and any animal inside of the darkness paled in comparison to what lie in waiting across the rest of the planet. Sleep would have been wonderful in this moment as he felt his eyelids grow heavy, but his stomach protested as it had been almost the entire day since he had eaten.
A crystal above suddenly fired out light into all corners of the night. It flared bright, as bright it had ever been most likely, and then the light died. More and more crystals burnt out every day around the temple. A crackling sound could be heard as a large crack emerged from the base of the crystal sticking out of the temple wall. He'd climb the wall to get the dead crystal tomorrow, but for now stew was priority.
He dispersed some stew into his bowl and ate like someone would take it away from him. Devowering every small morsel and liquid. It wasn't the best, but it wasn't the worst. In his current condition though, it might as well have been the best stew from his old village. The salty meaty stew went down just fine and shortly after, sleep.

Jax had awaken just like any other day, ready to make his trip across the planet racing against the darkness just like he did every day. Now, in early afternoon he was already half way across the planet, trecking threw the desert on the speeder. The crystal from the night before was crushed and used as power, it may not have had any spiritual power anymore, but it still was enough to run some appliances, if needed. However, the dying of the crystals means he couldn't support this cycle of life forever, a thought that he pushed to the back of his mind. A problem for another day. Today's problem was water, like it always was. He picked up the lizard he had harpooned in the desert and placed it in his pack.
Suddenly a high pitched screech filled the air. This was nothing that Jax had ever heard before, no animal or creature could make this noise. He veered his head around and finally caught a glimpse of something in the cloudless sky zipping past at a great speed toward the ground exactly West of him. It appeared to be... a ship. That could not be possible. He hadn't seen a ship since he was 10 moon cycles old, he was now 16. The horrible sound got quieter as it passed and then the loudest noise he had ever heard roared from the direction of the ship and the ground seemed to shake. A great billow of smoke arrose from the ships direction. "What in the two temples..." He whispered to himself. Jax stood, stunned, and frozen in place. What now? He was the only person left on this planet.
