It was dark. I remember seeing nothing but darkness. What followed the darkness was a sharp pain. It seeped through my blood, infecting every inch of my body. It was as if my entire body was just brought to life. The dead blood suddenly pumping, and organs suddenly flaring to life. My muscles ached as I writhed on the cold ground. The simple task of opening my eyes was a monumental challenge. Forget about getting up and walking around, I couldn’t even roll over.

I don’t remember how long I laid on the ground for, It was long enough for me to begin starving. The feeling of my body eating itself only added to the ambient pain I was feeling. Eventually, the primal desire to eat outweighed my desire to not feel pain, and I forced myself up. I was in what looked to be a long underground tunnel. I had to lean up against the nearest wall, as my legs were still unstable and shaky. I shuffled my way down the corridor. I was hoping to either find an exit or anything to eat.

After hours of walking down the same hallway, I fell to the ground with a cough. My throat was dry, my lips cracked. I needed to drink something. I tried getting back up, however, my legs decided that they no longer existed. After a few minutes of laying on the ground, my vision faded to black and I fell asleep. When I woke up, I could feel my heart beating. I could feel eyes watching me. I mustered every ounce of adrenaline in my blood and climbed to my feet. I rushed down the hall, whatever was watching me didn’t follow, it just continued to watch me as I ran.

My legs ached, my chest burned, and my eyes blurred. I was dying. My gaze fell to my hands. They were boney, no muscle or fat was to be found. “They were different before I fell asleep, so I must have slept for a while.” I spoke aloud to myself, my voice raspy. I felt insane. My head pounded, and my brain was in a fog. I pushed myself, continuing to walk the tunnel. After an hour, or more, I could see a larger opening. There was the sound of rushing water that accompanied the room. I ran, faster than when I fled for my life. The room was large, it looked like a mix of natural and man made.

There was a crack in the wall, which water was pouring out of, however, there was a large pool under the crack. The water poured into the pool, and was taken elsewhere. I didn’t stop to think, I rushed and plunged my head into the pool. I could feel the energy flow into my body. It rushed to my heart, my brain. It filled my stomach, along with my bladder. Only once I remembered that I needed to breathe, did I take my head out of the water. My reflection greeted me upon my resurface.
