Prologue #1

*Click* *click* *Click*

The sound enveloped the whole, dark room.

*Click* *Click *CLICK*

Infront of his computer was a man, furiously clicking on his mouse.

*CLick* *Click...*

His hands were all sweaty, and one click could destroy everything he had built.

In one click, everything he worked for will be gone in a blink of an eye.

*.....Click*

"DAMN IT! I LOST AT MINESWEEPER..AGAIN!"

The man shouted, and because of anger, he went out of his room and slammed the door shut. He went down the stairs, and he went to the kitchen. He crouched down to get food from the fridge, and looked at the time. It was already morning, and he hurriedly finished his food, went upstairs, and sleep with what little time he has left.

This was the man's daily life, because he had a point to prove.

"I'm better than everyone."

This was the man's one and only goal. To make them realize that he's the best in everything he does. He takes pride in everything he does, and brags about victories. There's just one problem, he is all but perfect. He's the very definition of mediocre.

"AHHHH..hhh..h... what?"

A loud sound woke me up. The sound came from the TV in my room, which has a wake up timer on it. I use that as a means to wake myself up if ever I fall asleep for too long. I don't use alarm clocks, because those are for normal people, living in their own normal standards. Whenever I fall asleep, I always turn on the wake up timer on my TV. Then I always turn to the channel where there are a lot of talk shows, so that I could wake up to the sound of people clapping, just like I was supposed to.

This time, the TV displayed the new gaming device that I've saved up on. Virtual Reality, or VR for short. I never thought that they are capable to create something like this, but they really outdid themselves.

"Hahaha, finally. I never expected you to create something like this, sis."

Also, my sister lives in with me. Any person would think that with an invention like this, she could buy and live in her own house, which irritates me even more because she chose to stay in with me.

Stolen content warning: this tale belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences elsewhere.

"Hmm, did you underestimate me for a bit there?"

"Of course not. We're truly on a league of our own, don't you think?"

"I have to agree with you, little brother. This invention may revolutionize gaming for thousands of years to come."

----------------------------------------

A year has passed by then.

The VR device made millions of dollars. It was revolutionary, just as she said. The "Virtual Reality" part got a hold of a lot of people. There were no games along with the device, and a lot of people basically got scammed by my sister. Without a game, the VR device was nothing but scrap waiting to be thrown. To avoid criticism, my sister spent millions of dollars in creating a game for that specific device.

This is why I'll always be ahead of my sister. I think things through, unlike her.

The game was scheduled to release today, and there were no beta or alpha testing. My sister was pretty confident in her work. She thinks that it was a game without flaws, befitting of a man like me. I'll just sit here, and wait for my sister to come home with a copy.

My sister was ambitious, so she created a game where people can experience what it's like to be in a game. She created a VRMMORPG, which is VR wired into an MMORPG game. We can freely roam wherever we want to go, and the game was the result of a million dollar project so it got a lot of hype in the internet. The game will pick your class according to your personality, which I'm all in for, because with my personality, I can easily be the best player in this game. Not like it was any surprise that I would.

She arrived shortly after, and had 2 copies of the game. One for her, and one for me. This useless piece of junk that was with me for a year is finally usable.

We both put in the game on our own VR devices. My sister went to the other VR device and opened it. She hopped in, and closed the lid on top of it. I did the same.

A blinding light shined, and it flashed my eyes. I couldn't move my hand and scratch my eye so it hurted really bad.

A GUI popped up, and much to my disappointment, it was a sign up page. I signed up and waited for about 30 minutes to get a verification email, where my VR automatically directed me to my email account. It was about 5 minutes before I could open finally open the game. I endured 45 minutes of unimaginable pain by not scratching my eye, and it itched so bad.

Another GUI popped up, and it was the class creation GUI.

"Auuugh, finally. My class should be good enough for me because of that long and painful start."

The classes on the GUI started to pop up, one by one. As much as I was mesmerized by how many classes there are on this game, my eyes really itched badly, so I couldn't wait for the GUI to finally choose my class.

"PLEASE JUST CHOOSE ONE, DAMN IT!"

Because of that, the GUI started to spin.

"FFFFFFFF PLEASE JUST CHOOSE ONE I CAn'T STAND IT ANYMORE!"

I tried to hit the exit button on the far-right screen, but my hand couldn't move.

Then the GUI stopped spinning..

"Agh.. finally.."

To ease the pain, I closed my eyes. I didn't think of this sooner, but it was effective enough. Because of that, I only saw my class flashed for a second, and I didn't even read it whole.

The GUI was like a pop up virus you see in the internet, as it was-

CONGRATULATIONS!

You got Dice...

"Dice.. dice what?"

I tried so hard to recollect what the second word was, but no worries, I already got to scratch my eye.

"Wow..."

I looked up, and I never thought that it would be like this. It seems that this world is better than the real one.
