Right, let’s do this. Miranda figured out how to access the secure logs function on our networks. Well, she tried to hack the restricted entertainment libraries, but found this instead.
It might be useless to her, but I’ve been playing around with the idea of starting something like a logbook for a while. If I remember correctly, she said it’s the same application that captain’s use for their logs. With this tailor-made program, why not give it a shot myself?

My name is Micheal Cerenos and I’m about to graduate from Sol Naval Academy as an ensign second class. This means that the past three years of study have finally come to fruition.
Now, the only things left for me and the class are the graduation ceremony later today and then we’ll all be heading of on our fist assignments. I’m hoping for something like communications. It’s definitely my strongest field.
As an ensign it’s not really like I get to make the choice. The policy is that we get shoved where there’s space and if it doesn’t fit with what we had hoped for, then tough luck. Unless you got into one of the elite specialization courses, which I and 90% of people didn’t, specialization only happens higher up and heavily depends on your skills.
Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.
Besides the mandatory education that every naval officer gets I’ve found my calling in comms. It touches on a wider range of other fields like diplomacy or even electronic warfare. Though I’m not actually that great at the hacking parts. That’s more Miranda’s territory.
I have also been taking elective piloting courses and I’d say that I could make a decent shuttle pilot but compared to someone like Jake I’m still left in the dust.
Then again, compared to Jake almost everyone is left in the dust. The maniac told me last week that he is aiming to get into reconnaissance. It’s probably a perfect fit. Hypercompetence and social awkwardness are pretty much in the job description for those guys. The hours they have to spend alone in the open void would turn even the sanest person a little strange.

Well enough about that. I’m short on time. Evelyn and I are about to head out on a date. It might even be our final date if we don’t have amazing luck and get the same assignments. So I’m planning to make the most of it. I’ve even prepared a little surprise for her.
After that, I’m going to go see my mom and then it’s already time for the ceremony. From past experience I know that until then the excitement is only going to keep building and I’m pretty damn excited already.
There are also rumors that some people from third section are organizing a party afterwards. Knowing them that will also be an event you’ve got to see and remember. Seems like today will be full of those.
Well, like they say: Today is the first day of the rest of our lives.
