-Welcome to DHOME, enjoy this new world of ours.-
As the voice faded away, the capsule gave me my first introduction to Virtual Reality, with a searing blinding light, leaving dark spots upon my retina, I found myself in the middle of a clearing in the middle of the woods.
As nothing immediately happened, I decided to sit down. Had been a tiresome day and I needed whatever rest I could get.
As I sat down, I was immediately impressed by the texture and sound of the grass. So impressed in fact, that I lay down on and started rolling around until I finally grew bored of it, as I was tired, I shortly fell asleep.
-20 Minutes later-
"Get up! Your in my spot!" A yell that was more sounding like a roar came suddenly from behind me. Going from a state of dreaming about muffin shaped clouds to an adrenaline state of being ready to run a marathon, I sat up.
"Your ruining my spot!" The roar like sound continued. I immediately noticed it was dark, maybe I had fallen asleep? Wait a moment.. There's light over there.. and there.. In fact, now that I think about it, its just dark here, where I am, how is that possible?
"You ain't moving, you god forsaken creature! Don't make me get down there!" The roar continued. 'Down there'? I thought. As I looked up, my brain couldn't believe what I was seeing. It was big! It had wings! And it looked like that if it were to sit ontop of me it wouldn't even notice.. I immediately went through the tips my ma told me before I left home. "“Courtesy costs you nothing, while insults and petty barbs encourage sloppiness and rigid thinking”, "Don't forget your insignia and identification! God knows what would they could do to you else!", "Remember, Virtual Reality is not actual Reality, anything is possible!", "I don't mind you bringing home a girl. I always wanted a girl, not that having three boys have brought me nuthin' more than joy ofcourse.. and headaches.."
Figuring that what my eyes was seeing is actually real, or as real I am in my current situation, what I was seeing was more or less a snake with wings and legs with claws. Immediately thinking that its literally impossible for such a thing to fly, the sheer weight to be held up, I had to force myself to remember I'm in Virtual Reality and physical laws and such can be easily be tweaked or outright changed.
"You ignoring me lad?! How about ignoring this!" The roar had raised an octave as the flying snake started descending, straight to where I was, as I forced myself to sprint towards the closest tree I noticed that I wouldn't make it, as I threw myself towards the closest boulder I saw, which seemed pretty pathetic compared to what was coming down ontop of me, I felt a shockwave hit me, seeing as I was still in the air from the jump, it gave me a boost, a big enough boost to propel me head first into the boulder. 'DAMN! That hurt!
"I'm gonna give you a chance to run lad, come on, go on.." The winged snake said with a sweet suggesting voice. As I was currently hyped up on adrenaline and with a head feeling like its been through a blender, I was not feeling the slightest to run. In fact, I immediately stood up to lecture (Ma would be so proud) about proper manners to someone who's first sentence to someone else is a roar like yell, yelling to theim to move their ass cause their in that supposed persons 'spot'. As my eyes sent the information to my brain, my brain demanded a few extra seconds to process what I was seeing. As my brain finally accepted that what my eyes was sending me, was actually what I was seeing, I immediately froze. In front of me was two big eyes with slit pupils! The same kind of eyes snakes got! As my survival instinct finally turned on, fight or flight, my body unfortunately turned out to be still stuck in 'freeze' mode, even though I REALLY (Ma raised no fools) wanted to flee.
"I give you my thanks lad, I'm still a bit hungry after the cow I ate. And here you are, just standing still." The winged snake continued with a sweet voice, the roar all gone.
Confused about what the winged snake was meaning, I decided to sit down on the boulder my head had headbutted. Seeing as the winged snake creature was no longer yelling nor threatening me, in fact it looked a bit intrigued about me, though I could be wrong, the way the mouth was moving was a bit disturbing, as when you do when your about to eat something tasty.
Deciding that introducements are in order, I did so promptly.

"Hello there Mr. 'Im gonna give a sleeping person a hearth attack by walking up to him when hes taking a well deserved rest and then shortly throwing myself ontop of the him only to tell him to feed me afterwards'. My name is Jason Montagne, I have traveled both far and wide in search of something, due to the long and extensive trip I decided to rest in the very grass you are currently laying at, and with a head feeling like its been through a blender and therefore hope you forgive me if I sound rude." I said.
As I finished introducing myself the winged snake eyed my curiously, maybe it was trying to understand what it had done wrong? Still, that mouth was really worrying me, I cant even imagine how he imagined I could have had carried enough to feed him.
"I'm the great Jormungand, the most majestic creature to ever touch the sky. I have flown far and wide today while searching for something of mine. As I returned to this resting place of mine, where I have 'asked' dwarves, elves, humans, orcs and less sentient creatures to stay away from, I find you. As I was tired both mentally and physically I found myself without the patience to politely ask you to leave. I am not aware of the meaning behind 'blender', but I imagine its something to do with your comical way of throwing yourself head first into a boulder upon seeing my majestic form? Either way, I have grown even more tired now and if I want you gone, stay here at your own risk. I imagine that my hunger will return tenfold once I wake up." Jormungand said.
Seeing Jormungand lay down and curl himself into a ball, I found myself with my body no longer frozen, and my flight instinct still quite alive and kicking. A minute later I was so far into the woods that I could no longer see or hear (Dat' snoring) Jormungand anymore.
Finding myself far more tired than I was before the damn snake woke me up, I decided that a finishing nap after the previus one, was in order. This time however I decided a proper resting place, where I wouldn't be gobbled up by a creature while taking a well earned rest'. Figuring that it would be safest hiding in a cave, though no caves in sight therefore going with option two, the tallest tree I could see. And wow, those was some big trees! With vines and everything!
As soon I found a big enough crevice among the tree branches for me to lay down into comfort with a few leaves cushioning me in, I immediately fell asleep.
I despertly tryed to block out the thought of the winged snake, Jormungand waking up and looking for me as a snack.
I soon fell asleep.

Thats the ending of episode prologue, next one 'may' involve some elves and animals and the warnings will apply for that episode.
A bit info about DHOME: Unlike old games/Virtual Reality where you can see your own stats and such, you are unable to do so in DHOME. You still however gain 'points', but they are more among the lines of passive. For example, lifting heavy objects will raise your strength, muscle density etc. You will find yourself having it an easier time lifting it than you would have had before. Repeatably lifting an heavy object will raise your strength, but the best results are gotten from intense moments, like fighting. Where you put your whole body on the risk. [There will be no 'status' window to see how much points you got in various attributes, it will be all about feeling it with your body]
For example, intelligence/mana. As there are no visible 'Mana' bar, the magicians instead 'feel' it with their body. The more mana they expend, the less they have, the more 'tense' their bodies will feel. Once they have expended more mana than they have, their bodies go into shock and thereafter die. This will obviously depend upon various professions, magicians that draw mana from the world or have their body generate it themselves. Then there are ofcourse 'safe guards' to prevent it, for example storing mana in rings, necklaces, weapons, armors or even perhaps big stationary orbs thats placed in watchtowers.
Hopefully with this setting this fanfic can stand out among the rest.
I will not place it in the Royal Road universe since it simply dosnt fit it, but as most if not all my inspiration is from Royal Road, and the other fanfics I've read. I hope you guys do not mind it.
I sincerly ask for your opinions.
