Apologies for the hiatus. I wanted to give a more public notice on what's been going on, since it will likely continue.

As some on the Discord already know, my dad's been going through cancer and other health issues. I'm very close with him. I worked with him 10 years after college, so I unfortunately haven't been taking the last couple of years since the diagnosis very well. He's always been tough as anything, reliable, and many other things. He was my best friend, mentor, and hero. Seeing cancer slowly beat him down when I'd always joked the stubborn old goat was going to outlive me has been surreal.

This past month his health took a sudden turn, he was in the hospital two weeks, got discharged and came home, then wound up in hospice only a few hours later. Needless to say, going through a lot right now and will not be putting much pen to paper for the foreseeable future. While part of me has been mentally prepared for this in a limited capacity, I don't expect the following events to weigh well on me, so it'll likely be a while still before I stumble out of my coping mechanisms and fall back into writing.

In the grand scale of things, my silly story is just a drop on the site, but I'm still disappointed in the spotty run. While I sort of figured this was going to pop up sometime this year and it had me hesitant to start writing again, it still came faster than expected. Hoping to see y'all at some point in the not too distant future. For now, I'm gonna go take a big fat nap then deal with tomorrow.
