Malcontent
-Initial Description- A relatively new Deviancy as far as the world is concerned, and the last one to come into the public light. Little is known about them beyond their monstrous regeneration, feral like nature, and the fact that they need to eat people to survive.
-Historical Note- For whatever reason, Malcontent were the last of the major Deviancies to become publicly known, and given their relatively low occurrence rate would not normally be considered a major Deviancy if not for one major event that has scarred their legacy into modern history. The fact that Samhain, the Tallman was the Malcontent to publicly out their Deviancy during his slaughter of Asylum and subsequent takeover of the government, during both of which he showed the full destructive potential of this Deviancy.
-Malcontent Abilities- While each Malcontent possess their own unique abilities they also each share a number of abilities such as a heightened sensory system, enhanced physiology resulting in a higher muscle density and reflexes, and arguably the strongest innate healing factors of the known Deviancies.
In addition to these already dangerous abilities many Malcontent also possess a talent for manipulating Malice. Namely through a form of weak elemental manipulation and persuasion similar to the abilities of a Hex and Social Slasher, though luckily for most without the inherent growth by killing seen in the Slashers.
--The Other Side- An odd occurrence with many Malcontent is their reference to ‘the other side’ a dimensional space of varying parameters that each Malcontent possesses a weak tether to, and is even capable of projecting onto the world around them should they push their abilities hard enough. Often resulting in the odd generation of mist in the air around them, blood pouring from nearby crevices, dimming of natural lights, and other such phenomena depending on the ‘Other Side’ in question.
(Note: Careful documentation has shown that these alternate dimensions to be dissimilar to a Wonderlander’s Wonderland, with a Malcontent’s Other Side and the entities within often seeking to harm them. Further documentation has in fact revealed that many of these Other Sides show qualities similar to the worlds found on the other side of the Rift sub-type often referred to as ‘Dimensional Bleeds’.)
--Transformations- Arguably the most signature aspect of these other selves is the fact that every Malcontent has the ability to transform themselves into their ‘other self’, gaining new abilities and enhancing their existing ones as they slowly transform into non-human entities with the actual speed being based on a number of factors including their emotional state, adrenal system, and the stability of their connection to their other self.
(Note: Malcontent transformations seem to disregard the standard laws of conservation of mass with Malcontent often possessing notably more as they transform with the actual end transformation being notably larger and heavier. A noted theory connecting the other side to their transformation abilities is that they could be storing additional mass within this theoretical pocket dimension.)

-Other Self- The core factor of Malcontent can be tied to their tendency to develop an ‘other self’ whose personality can vary wildly while also possessing an almost feral or malicious nature towards others. Often going so far as to give their other selves names and titles that they claim their other selves always possessed, and preferring to identify by this name the more they give into it.
-Cannibalism and Genetic Instability- Similar to Deadmen Malcontent are known as one of the two Cannibal Deviancies, however unlike Deadmen whose target is not actually those they feed on but rather the Ectoplasm held within Malcontent are in fact targeting humans for consumption and can find no substitute to this hunger.
The reason for this cannibalistic tendency towards humans is due to a genetic instability caused by their innate transformative abilities, that causes their genetic material to slowly unravel the harder they push their abilities without consuming the genetic material necessary for their abilities to remember its baseline. And as such a Malcontent must eat a non-Deadman* human or Malcontent of a lower transformative level than themselves else their healing factor will forget which parts of their physiology belong and turn on themselves.
*(Note: It has been demonstrated that should a Malcontent attempt to consume a Deadman, then their genetic degradation will actually accelerate instead of mending.)
-Silver Eyes- The one trait that all Malcontent possess are silver eyes which become apparent after the first time they transform begin transforming, and is theorized to be caused by a misalignment of melanin in the eyes due to the fact that they are one of the first parts of a Malcontent to change into their ‘other self’s’ and as such undergo frequent transformation without a genetic reset in between them.
-Sub-Deviancies-
--Malice Borne- Malcontent of a Second generation and beyond. While a distinction between first and other generations of a Deviancy are usually unnecessary Malcontent find themselves as something of an exception due to the fact that starting at the second generation they have a tendency of being born with a fully prehensile tail as well as being partially ‘transformed’ for the entirety of their life, with few being able to fall below a ten percent transformation.
(Note: Malice Borne Malcontent are the only known Deviancy to be a Deviant from birth rather than triggering as they mature.)
--Fractured- Malcontent are those who have undergone a unique process that fractures and rebuilds their connection to their other self resulting in them gaining abilities far exceeding that of the standard Malcontent at the price of removing whatever safety limiters had previously prevented their abilities from harming themselves and causing an underlining shift in their Genetic instability that most Malcontent can’t some back from.
-Malice Drug- An artificial Malice developed by [Redacted] through their experiments on the Malcontent, this drug has been shown to temporarily grant those who ingest it the abilities of a Malice user for non-Deviants and a number of side effects for those who are.
This information is considered classified so as to slow if not stop the spread of the Malice formula by preventing interested parties from attempting to harvest the formula from the corpses of the remaining Malcontent.
