Prologue - Memories

He awoke, just to see darkness everywhere. He felt empty, while the still nothingness surrounded him. However he didn’t feel scared in this quiet space, if anything he felt a sense of comfort and security. He started to think whether he was abnormal, but the thought stopped him. ‘Abnormal’ what did it mean…, no matter how much he thought he couldn’t make a comparison to what ‘Abnormal’ meant. ‘Was I abnormal?’ this thought clouded within his mind as his curiosity for the meaning increased every second.

Coming back to his original train of thoughts he started to wonder where this place was, why he was here and what he could do. He suddenly asked out to the still darkness, “When did I get here?” There was no reply obviously, but he wasn’t bothered by it. As he remained in this peaceful darkness of his, he slowly succumbed to his overwhelming drowsiness and fell asleep.

Once again he awoke, and once again surrounded by this still darkness. He didn’t question any further as he thought it was futile. He just spent his time thinking, forever more increasing his thirst for answers as his curiosity took control of his mind. Like this many seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months and years passed, or that was what he thought. For the 83958th time he once again fell asleep, making sure to keep count of the days he thinks he has seemed to have passed.

As per usual he woke up, thinking he would be welcomed by his dark peaceful space. However it was different, he woke up to find 8 doors floating in his dark sanctuary around him in a circular formation. He stood there in a daze looking stunned at the floating doors shaking away his current state, he with his mind willed himself to move forwards towards the first door with the number ‘1’ above it. He examined the door all around, he found that the back of the door led to nothing, thinking as if this was a sick prank by the darkness around him, he smiled. After examining all 8 doors without opening them he once again stood in the middle of these doors that were in a circular formation.

He stood, thinking about what to do or furthermore which door to choose. He picked any number within his mind and started to move towards the door with the number ‘4’ above it. He gripped his hand around the cold handle of the door, while twisting the knob he pushed forwards into an ever blinding light that stunned him. Surprised enough, he started to intake the images into his eyes of the surroundings around him. He focused his eyes and looked deeply into the eyes of another being. A pair of strong, deep, light blue eyes penetrated his consciousness and was utterly entranced by this sight, emotions swelled deep inside him. Looking deep into the eyes of the ‘being’ that was holding him, it happened. His mind blanked. Images, places, other ‘beings’, emotions, warmth, hate, love, darkness, then a pair of deep dark eyes, so dark that it could be said to be darker than black, slowly but effectively flooded his mind. As if looking through a picture book, a series of images flew through his mind. It ended. He was confused, scared, and curious. But he knew, he knew what this was, and he was glad he got to find it.
