Glassy sand flew to the sky under the heavy thump of a falling carcass. Bloodied chitin plates with dozens of cuts and dents all over its thousand limbs emitted a sickening odor of death and rot. It was enormous, four times the size of a human being in length, yet rather thin, almost at one womans’ waist. The red centipede laid exhausted dripping colorless liquid from its maw straight into the small roundish flask. It was not pleased being used as a poison donor, hissing and trembling in the mix of anger and anguish at the woman that held it still by the head.
— Bloody hate bugs… — she mumbled, slowly filling her flask.
Despite all dislike she felt towards the insectoids, her armor resembled a crude chitin plate of a soon-to-be-dead centipede and laid over a tight fitting leather with a bunch of straps keeping it together.
Armor was not cheap in the Glass Wastes, thus as a wise and practical woman as she was, Lethe has chosen to spend her hard-earned Scraps on a chitin breastplate. Roughly made, but served its purpose quite well.
Even so ambushing and tracking down this centipede was a breeze, however it took Lethe two and a half days of constant chasing until insectoids legs finally gave up. This particular species were quite resilient which, she suspected, was part of the reason why her client wanted a fresh vial of the red centipede poison. And Lethe was happy to be of service! Especially after her payment got a twenty percent increase for a stupid condition of harvesting poison from a living red centipede. Alchemists and their mumbo-jumbo fresh ingredients...

Finishing with her task, she corked a now full vial of poisonous saliva and put it safely in one of her bags, turning to the disgusting maw of a dying creature. Without further ado she grabbed its mandibles with a grimace and in one swift motion twisted them round ripping off a chunk of screeching centipede head with it. That one was expected. What she didn’t expect was a foul brownish blood spayed from the wound in a fountain tainting the glassy sand all around.
Lethe shivered from viscous, smelly, disgusting bugs gore covering her head to toe and couldn’t hold the burning sensation any longer. Even her beautiful, lustrous black hair were in this shit!
— FOR FUCKING FERITAS BALLS!
