The smell of sulphur and burnt wood was everywhere, there was no vegetation or even living creatures around, the ground was red stone and full of cracks, the magma flowing out of the cracks made one shudder, and on top of all this, the overwhelming dark mana in the air made the atmosphere quite oppressive.
Damien looked at the red earth around him with great surprise in his eyes.
"Am I not dead?" he asked himself.
"No, Logan's spear shattered my heart and my mana core. There is no way I can survive this," he answered his own question.
Damien clenched his fists in anger as he remembered what had happened, his fists clenched so hard that his nails dug into his flesh, causing blood to drip onto the floor.
Tears of guilt slowly welled up in his eyes and trickled down his cheeks and onto the boiling stone on the floor.
As soon as the tear touched the stone on the ground, it boiled and evaporated.
"It's all my fault!!!" she screamed and hit the ground with all her strength.
Everything that had happened was his fault. He hadn't hidden his sister's special eyes well enough. He wasn't strong enough. It was all Damien's fault.
Now he didn't know where he was and he couldn't do anything. His mother was murdered in front of his eyes, his cousins and relatives were killed, his sister's eyes were gouged out, and his youngest sister, a baby, would grow up in a hostile family.
"This world..." Damien whispered forcefully.
This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.
"It deserves to be destroyed..." he added.
Tears were falling from his eyes, guilt and anger tearing at his heart, and at this moment dark mana condensed around Damien.
It was at this moment that something was etched into the very bottom layer of Damien's mind.
Revenge!!!......
From all the families involved in the massacre, from the Avalon empire that remained silent, and from the gods who saw it fit and deceived people under the guise of fate.
He wanted to kill them all, but he couldn't do it before he even knew where he was.
Just then a voice was heard, causing the already dark atmosphere to darken even more.
"Damien Thunder...." said the voice. It was masculine and sounded like thunder.
Damien jumped up with a mixture of surprise and fear and looked up at the sky.
When he looked up he saw something that would never leave his mind.
There was a being in the sky, humanoid in general, but it was impossible to make out the details, as if it was made by the darkness itself.
It was as if it was the void itself.
This demon had four horns and red eyes that seemed to pierce Damien's soul.
On the back of this demon were a pair of wings that looked like they were made of black ink. The span of these wings was larger than anything Damien had ever seen.
Nothing else was clearly visible, the dark aura around it obscuring it.
Damien was so surprised that he forgot to speak.
"Cursed child of the gods and fate..." said the demon.
The look of surprise on Damien's face grew as he heard these words. He stared at the demon for a few seconds and then spoke.
"Who are you?" Damien asked, his tone of voice betraying that he had not yet recovered from his astonishment.
Hearing this question, the demon chuckled, a chuckle that made Damien's soul tremble.
"I'm not the important person here, Damien.....you are," the demon said and began to descend slowly.
When it reached the ground and stood directly in front of Damien, it spoke again.
"The gods fear you, Damien. They fear you so much that they changed your fate and caused you and your family to die."
Damien frowned when he heard these words. He didn't know who or what this being was, and he didn't know its purpose.
And Damien didn't care about that. All he wanted right now was information and revenge.
Seeing the look in Damien's eyes, the demon smiled and bared its sharp teeth.
"I'll cut to the chase, Damien," the demon said with a serious expression.
"I'm going to bring you back to life and awaken the bloodline within you, then I'm going to change your body a little and give you powers you can't even imagine," the demon added and waited for Damien to digest it.
Hearing these words, Damien frowned and fell deep in thought.
He didn't understand any of what the demon was saying, he could only guess.
*What does he mean by awakening the bloodline in me, Damien thought.
*The
other question was, what did he mean by changing his body?
*Why do I care about that? I have nothing left to lose anyway* he thought and looked into the demon's red eyes with a serious expression in his eyes.
"Tell me about these powers," Damien said.
