Chapter 2: The New World

Chapter 2: The New World

The air was particularly fresh in the early morning, and the breakfast shop at the school gate wafted an enticing aroma.

“Sir, a sandwich and milk,” said a somewhat disheveled boy as he plopped down on a stool and spoke to the busy owner.

“Coming right up.” The owner quickly served the milk, filling it to the brim, and smiled broadly, “Lucy, you’re about to have your magic assessment, right? You need to study hard to get into a good magic academy and become an excellent magician!”

Lucy stared blankly at the breakfast shop owner, who sold breakfast at the school gate, and after thinking for a moment, figured she must have misheard him, so she nodded while eating.

Yesterday, she had woken up feeling groggy, as if she had dreamt of traveling through many centuries. When she woke up, it felt like she had crossed into another world, not knowing east from west or whether it was morning or noon.

Lucy was wolfing down her food, holding half a sandwich in her hand, when she suddenly felt a weight beside her. A balding man in his thirties sat down next to her, exuding a strong smell of smoke.

“Lucy, having breakfast?” the bald man greeted her with a smile.

“Good morning, sir, good morning!” Lucy hurriedly replied.

This man was the infamous bald principal of the school, who wore ill-fitting suits every day and had a shiny bald head.

“I didn’t bring my watch; what time is it?” the bald principal asked, revealing a mouthful of yellow teeth.

Lucy pulled out her old Nokia and checked, “Fifteen minutes until the bell rings.”

“Shit! I’m going to be late! I still haven’t finished my magic theory PPT, and I won’t have time for breakfast…” The bald principal suddenly stood up, nearly causing Lucy to lose her balance.

“Boss, forget the milk… It’s too slow to walk to the office. Forget it; it’s no big deal to use a bit of magic power.” The bald principal muttered to himself.

Lucy was once again confused, feeling like the bald principal was speaking Martian.

Just as she was about to think she had misheard, the awning of the breakfast shop suddenly fluttered in a bizarre manner, as if something with air pressure was surging out from the middle of the shop…

A sudden gust of wind blew through, messing up Lucy’s hair and making her clothes rustle.

“Wind Track: Swift Movement!”

The bald principal suddenly chanted, and Lucy watched as his ill-fitting suit inexplicably billowed, as if a strong wind had filled it.

His tie fluttered, and his pant legs swayed. Lucy was astonished; how could it suddenly be windy in the morning, and why was it blowing so dramatically around the bald principal?

“Whoosh~~~~”

A streak of blue light flashed by, and Lucy vaguely saw a magnificent starlight trail appear around the bald principal, which vanished in an instant.

“Lucy, I’ll be going ahead. You need to study hard!” The bald principal turned to Lucy, revealing his yellow-toothed grin.

Lucy was left dumbfounded, still processing what had just happened when she heard a “whoosh” sound!

The slightly overweight, bald principal in an ill-fitting suit seemed to have activated a booster, racing down the trail of dust kicked up by the wind toward the school!

His rapid movement was astonishingly fast; the other students in uniforms walking by seemed frozen in place as the bald principal darted through them, leaving behind a trail of astonished dust…

The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

In just a few seconds, Lucy felt as if the yellow-toothed face was still imprinted in front of her, but he had already disappeared deep into the school gate, no longer visible.

The words “You need to study hard!” echoed in her ears, but the person was nowhere to be found. Half a sandwich was still being chewed in her mouth, but her chewing motion abruptly stopped, and the other half of the sandwich slipped from Lucy’s hand!!!

The bald principal, was he the Flash???

……

“This is an illusion; it must be an illusion.” After a long time, Lucy rubbed her eyes.

It must have been because she didn’t sleep well last night, affecting her brain nerves or something; otherwise, how could she see such a scene?

She quickly finished her breakfast and planned to catch up on sleep in class. Goodness, what was going on? The Flash bald principal?

When she got to class, to shake off the illusion she had just experienced, she simply laid her head down on the desk to sleep.

She heard the two typical scoundrels in front of her whispering. One said, “There’s less than a month left; what if we can’t get into a good high school?”

“You’re so good; you’ll definitely get into Nobu Mountain Magic High School.”

“Not at all; you’re the one who’s amazing. Your scores in theory classes are so high that you can recognize almost all the monsters and know their weaknesses.”

Lucy frowned. This wasn’t the first time she had heard the concept of magic. What was going on? Could it be that she was both hallucinating and hearing things??

She hadn’t taken any drugs; she didn’t even smoke!

Forget it; it must be that she hadn’t slept well.

Lucy filtered out the nonsensical conversation of those two guys and quickly fell into a deep sleep.

Years of studying had taught Lucy the advanced skill of falling asleep instantly at her desk.

……

“Class, open your textbooks. Today we will continue learning the basics of magic release. Do you remember what I told you? To complete a basic magic spell, you must connect the stars in your magic stardust; only then can you form a star energy trajectory, allowing the magic power to be transmitted. I’ve told you this many times, and it’s also a key point for your exam.” Math teacher William maintained his rhythmic teaching style.

Lucy usually would drift deeper into sleep with the teacher’s voice, but when she heard the words “magic release” and “stars” again, she suddenly woke up.

“Lucy, pay attention in class! There’s less than a month left; don’t waste your time like this!” William immediately scolded when he spotted Lucy.

The classmates turned to look, secretly laughing; mocking the slacker had become their favorite pastime in class.

“Open your textbook.” William continued.

Lucy felt helpless and opened her textbook…

“Shit, what the hell is this??” Lucy almost cursed out loud.

All the diagrams, functions, and formulas that were supposed to be in the math textbook had vanished, replaced by incomprehensible star tracks, star maps, and lines resembling shooting stars, forming what looked like… a magic circle!!

Lucy forcibly suppressed her shock and then realized something.

When the math teacher wasn’t paying attention to her, Lucy kicked her deskmate, Guangu, under the table and said, “What the hell did you do? Why did you switch my book with something else? Hurry up and give me my math book back.”

“Dude, what math book?” Guangu said, looking aggrieved; he hadn’t done anything to deserve this.

“Look at what these are; hurry up and give me my book back.” Lucy pointed at the strange star tracks, magic symbols, and bizarre spell markings in the book.

“Lucy, this is the magic class! What math? Did you stay up all night reading science fiction again? You said I was getting obsessed with adult films, but aren’t you the same?” Guangu said with a frown.

Lucy was taken aback by Guangu’s rebuttal, nearly dropping her jaw.

What the hell was going on?

“Stop talking nonsense.” Lucy snapped. This guy was acting pretty convincingly, but did he really expect her to believe him?

“Dude, you’re really going crazy from reading novels. We’re in a magic world, okay? Where does this math nonsense come from? If there were any, I wouldn’t be stuck learning this boring magic theory, elemental systems, and monster classes every day; I’d have gone to study math and physics, which are way more interesting.” Guangu said earnestly.

Lucy looked at Guangu’s expression; this jerk didn’t show a hint of a flaw when he said such absurd things, as if it were all true.

Her deskmate had gone crazy; not only had he gone crazy, but he also wanted to drag her down with him!

Learning such boring magic theory, elemental systems, and monster classes every day…

Ha! How could he say that?

“If you don’t believe me, listen to what the teacher is saying.” Guangu said lightly when he saw Lucy’s strange expression.

Lucy then carefully listened to what math teacher William was saying, but a stream of unfamiliar terms she couldn’t understand flooded in, making her feel completely unwell.

William didn’t mention a single word about the “functions” or “formulas” she was familiar with; instead, he repeatedly talked about “star tracks, star maps,” and even mentioned things like “fire system, ice system, water system.”

“Crazy, it’s all crazy.”

Lucy’s conviction was strong; she wouldn’t believe these words.

The next class was her favorite chemistry teacher, Ms. Lily’s class—beautiful, sexy, mature, gentle, with perky curves and a round backside. Ms. Lily would definitely not use such nonsense to fool her!
