Chapter 9: Broken

Chapter 9: Broken

"There's the hill, hurry woman........" the boy told the woman.

*YAH.....YAH

She grunted whilst hitting the horse to speed up and the men following copied her actions.

The hill was steep, but they were already on the move, it was only a matter of time before they arrived at the top of the hill where the house was.

In the ascension of the hill, the boy had zoned off to the sound of the horses galloping and they had arrived.

"We're -" a sound penetrating the boy's mind

A voice?

"We're here boy" she repeated realizing he had zoned off.

"A-Ah yes" he responded softly

There the mansion stood, 2 storeys tall, around 30 meters in length, painted white and the windows in both storey's  of the mansion were shut.

Everything seemed intact, it was a good sign.

"Okay men i-"

*Whoosh

She hadn't even realized it, but the boy had already let go of her and gotten off the horse and was running towards the door of the house.

He got in front of me without me knowing? She thought to herself

"Wait for us," she said to him as he ran towards the door.

He paid no heed to her words and went on by himself.

----------------------------------------

As his hand reached for the door, he could tell something was off, the door handle was broken showing that someone had entered the premises.

The gut feeling he had was slowly coming back along with a feeling of dismay and he felt uncomfortable.

He opened the door slowly to ensure that no unnecessary noise was made to alert people if they were inside to his presence.

Oddly, the house was normal with no signs of disturbance, the kitchen and living room separated by the corridor was untouched with no signs of disturbance.

Slowly making his way down the long corridor passing the stairs leading upstairs to the rooms. With the guest room to the right side of the corridor and the door leading to the backyard straight ahead, a sound could be heard coming from the guest room.

*Uh........ uh...... uh.... uh.... uh

It was a male's grunting.

Slowly opening the door to not alert the person. The boy stood there at the sight in front of him on the far left of the room drawing his attention.

Susan's dress was torn up, her throat had been slashed, her body covered in semen and a man raping her dead body on top the blood covered bed making sounds of pleasure.

The man was wearing a black cloth bag over his face and a black tunic and pants and a knife in his hand could be seen dripping blood onto the bed.

The boy felt the vibrations of the footsteps behind him through the corridor, it was the woman and her men. They had the knowledge to move quietly as they were unaware of the situation.

The boy watched them and simply put his finger to his lips to signal them not to speak.

They slowly approached him and then they witnessed what was occurring.

She had seen things like this happen in wars and it was truly disgusting, but for her, there was something even more unsettling.................and it was coming from the boy.

Although he stood there quietly, his bloodlust could be felt and it was no joking matter.

It had been years since she had felt something like this and she began to tremble.

He simply looked at her and she already got the message. His look was screaming "Do not interfere" and judging from that, she could tell the woman that laid there on the bed was a member of the boy's family.

He snatched the dagger from her waist and slowly crept up to the man on the bed, to avoid a face to face confrontation as he knew he could not beat the man in a one on one fight.

It took the woman a second to realize that her dagger was gone and so was the boy.

The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

"WAIT, WE COULD-" she shouted at him.

The man became alerted to their presence but it was too late.

The dagger was already making it's way up from the bottom of the man's jaw to the top of his skull.

He quickly pulled out the dagger from the dead man and plunged it into the man's heart and began repeatedly stabbing the dead body.

"STOP!" she shouted at him

Her words could not reach him and he kept going.

She ran towards him and pulled him off the body, took the dagger from his hand and tossed it aside.

She couldn't even look the boy in his eyes and directed her gaze away. She had no idea of what to say to him.

*Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.........mmmmmmmmmmmmmm

A sound could be heard coming from the far right corner of the room. The sound of something muffled.

The boy slowly turned to look and there he was next to the Chester drawer.

It was Cornelius with his arms and legs tied with a rope in his mouth laying on the ground with tears leaking down his face.

If Cornelius is alive then Jason should be too.

The boy darted across the room towards and untied the man and removed the rope in his mouth.

"CORNELIUS, WHERE'S JA-"

Cornelius rushed past the boy and pushed the men at the doorway aside running into the corridor.

The boy turned and looked at the door which the man exited from for around 30 seconds.

He slowly got up from his crouching position and walked towards the door.

"Where did he go?" he asked one of the men.

"To the door right there," the man said pointing at the door leading to the backyard.

----------------------------------------

"Don't go, let us go first then we'll tell you to come after if it's clear" the woman told the boy hoping it would stop him from exiting the room.

"No........" the boy responded turning back and looking at her before exiting the guest room.

Those eyes of his...............

What she was feeling right now was pure intimidation, his body language said it all "Try to stop me and I will kill every single one of you" although she knew in a fight there was no way she and her men would lose, it was disturbing and made no sense to her how this weak man could give off such an aura.

The boy entered the corridor and made his way to the door leading to the backyard.

It was shut and the moment he opened it he could see Cornelius's back facing him on his knees on the grassy plain, holding something in his hands crying.

Judging from the way the hands were positioned, the object was small and there was no way it could be Jason.

He slowly made his way to the front of Cornelius and glanced to the sides, a small trail of blood could be seen leading up to Cornelius and the sight he saw made him go numb as he stood in front of the man looking down at him.

His emotions felt as if they had left his body and all he felt was nothingness.

It was Jason's head Cornelius was grasping.

Cornelius slowly raised his head looking at the boy with his mouth opened, his eyes red and tears falling hitting the child's head.

*Sob Sob

"Ja-ja-ja-jas-JASO"

"I understand Cornelius" the boy interjected with his eyes going lifeless.

The woman and her men stood there looking at the sight, it wasn't their place to interfere.

The boy slowly walked away from Cornelius making his way to the woman and his legs could be seen trembling.

"I'm sor-"

*Shing

It was the sound of a sword being pulled from its sheath.

The boy pulled her sword from her waist and slowly turned away and was making his way to Cornelius.

"What are you doing?!" she yelled at the boy with her words failing to reach the boy's mind.

With each step towards the man, he felt as if he was going to collapse, his knees kept getting weaker and weaker and before he was aware of it, he was standing in front of Cornelius with the sword in his hand.

"Cornelius.......................you understand right? I won't allow you to live bearing the burden of this guilt, it's better this way" the boy said softly with his voice sounding as if it was going to break and he would erupt in tears.

Cornelius simply stared at him sobbing.

"NO, I CAN'T PUT THIS ON YOU" he shouted at the boy crying.

"I can't stand to see you in this state, to carry on life living bearing what has happened, I can bear it all Cornelius........... you should be with your family, if not in this world then in the afterlife....." he said with his voice slowly fading away

Cornelius understood what he was saying, his life had no meaning anymore and the boy was willing to take all the pain away.

He did not wish to carry on living in this world anymore and wanted to be reunited with his family.

He began weeping even louder than before.

"T-T-Thank you, these are my last words to you, this was in no way your f-f-fault, my s-s-son live on no matter w-w-what" Cornelius murmured stuttering in between with his voice weak and with only the boy being able to hear it and then he placed Jason's head on the ground.

It was the first time in his life that someone had referred to him as a son. Tears began to run from the boy's eyes and the sword was shaking in his hand uncontrollably.

"Close your eyes, I'll make it painless" the boy said with his voice trembling.

Cornelius closed his eyes.

Mustering up his resolve and firmly grasping the sword and stopping his tears, he drove the sword through the man's chest.

As the body hit the ground, so did the boy, his knees hit the ground staring at the body and he began to think about what he had done.

Did I do the right thing?

It was the hardest choice he had made in his life, but he chose the right thing. This was the ultimate form of compassion he showed.

The woman walked behind of the boy and began hugging him and she placed her head on his own. All of this was done to try to ease his pain.

"Cornelius, you were always trying your best to atone for what you had done years ago but what you failed to realize was that I had forgiven you so long ago" he whispered to the body.

"Why didn't you tell him before you-"

"He was mourning the death of his son, it wasn't my place to interfere with my selfishness," the boy said under his breath interjecting the woman.

Then he stared at Jason's head, he couldn't keep it in anymore.

*AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

He screamed staring at the blood red sky, then closing his eyes and tears running down his face.

Something broke inside of him.

A sensation could be felt. As if something was hitting his face like that of rain.

Slowly opening his eyes staring forward, blood could be seen falling from the sky in the form of rain.

It was the first time the woman had experienced it, it was shocking to her and the mercenaries she came with could be seen scared at the sight.

A bad feeling ran through her body, this was a premonition of things to come and she grasped the boy even tighter than before.

He removed her hands from around his waist and slowly got up closing his eyes lifting his head towards the sky basking in the blood.

As his eyes opened slowly, the blood rain slowly eased up and by the time his eyes had fully opened the blood rain had stopped with the bloody clouds gone and the sky was blue once more and the sun shined just as it normally would.
