Unforeseen Encounter - Chapter 1

The noise of water droplets smacking against cold rock, entered the ears of the semi-conscious Samu. Her body was sprawled on the cold rock, almost as if crippled. But she was not, and in fact her physique had been acclaimed to be one of the best by countless doctors and nurses. However if they had seen her current predicament and health, they wouldn’t be able to tell if it was actually Samu. But even if her castle attendants wanted to see her, they wouldn’t be able to.

The Hidden Sovereign was known to be an invincible mercenary force that could change the tide of battle with just one of their many squads. And If the whole band was together, then maybe their imperial army could stop them. After all, they are just a mercenary band.

After fully regaining consciousness and taking a look around herself. Samu groaned lightly through the bound rag in her mouth, the cold air stung the corners of her mouth causing cracked skin to rub against the rough rag that silenced her hope. The action brought pain upon the Princess, but she continued to endure in silence as time passed…

The dungeon that she was thrown into was dark and cold with an emptiness that made Samu reminiscent the past, to the days where she wasn’t held captive. And it was precisely at this time, Samu forgot how long she had been in this cell...it felt like an eternity’s worth of time slipped had out her grasps and dawning an inability to spend the time, the way she once had.

The cave was relatively small with a locked wooden door at the entrance, it would have been the same even if the door wasn’t there. Since Samu was still bound in rags and chains.

Even though Samu had been locked up and lost track of time, her mind began to change when she stopped worrying and caring about the future and the past. Only the current mattered.

Her calloused hands jolted forcefully against the frosted iron chains, causing pain to her once tender skin.

Desperation ensued, as Samu tried to get rid of her chains, this included blood being splashed against the floor and sweat flowing down her face. Samu became driven with desire to break free…

A small crack on the cuffs brought light to her darkness, after she smacked the chains against the floor for the hundredth time. But a profusely bleeding mammal will naturally fall after a period of time if left unattended.

“Young Captain she has fallen, so I don’t think there is any need to stay any longer”

“Yeah. I thought she might’ve been different from the others, but collapsing after two weeks is pitiful”

The half-elf and youth walked away from the cell whilst debating the survival of Samu between another, leaving behind an unconscious human.

Samu was not much different from the male kids when she was growing up. She disliked prancing around the royal court in expensive robes, whilst gossiping nonsense with other ladies. No, she did not enjoy that at all.

She instead preferred to get her hands bloody and sweaty and her boots dirty and muddy, even if it meant tainting her pristine white skin and creating callouses on her hands. Yes, she became addicted to the feeling of slowly growing stronger after a full day of whacking the straw puppets with her wooden sword. The masochistic personality grew as the years went by as Samu slowly became bolder and more simplistic.

In a way, irrationality became a part of Samu’s soul, and it’s what Samu is. However, she had never before been severely punished or put in shame because of it. Instead, she actually won small skirmishes around the borders of the kingdom because of her quick thinking, and irrationality. But now...she fell very hard because of it.

In the desolate dungeon, the body of Samu slightly trembled, either from the bitterness of the cold or from sadness. Sadness from the thought of never being able to see the rising sun, with her soldiers and parents.

Her frost bitten lips slowly parted as weak whispers of declaration escaped her mouth, through the blooded rag:

“I will never fall like those before me, even if this small cage of darkness attempts to break me. I will not stop breathing until those who oppose me are dragged into hell for crimes they have committed against me”

Her whispers gave her strength, as her bloodshot eyes turned a pale white and her noble blonde hair transformed into winter snow. Then, like a dam of water unleashed from its barred walls. Samu broke apart the cuffs binding her hands at the cost of the wrist bones feeling the cold for the first time. Her arms snapped into abnormal angles, as a roar escaped her vocals:

If you encounter this narrative on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

“Let me soar!”

This outburst might have surprised even Samu herself, if she was sane.

At the same time the roar echoed throughout the dungeon the wooden door that was locked; opened to give passage to Samu. However, what did she hope to achieve when her legs were still bound by chains, and blood seeped out her wounds at a maddening rate. She could only achieve death if she wished to go on.

“Interesting! How did you manage that with your strength, human?”

The voice held sense of shock with a tone of a young man, and the clear and articulate throat made the man seem intelligent. It was like hearing one of the supposed “Heroes” of the kingdom speaking again, which Samu had heard countless times in the royal court.

Samu did not even register his approach, nor his question. She stared at the wall, lifeless and broken…

“Unconscious?”

The youth seemed puzzled as he looked at Samu, her eyes wide open and her body trembling. His face did not reveal any astonishment that his voice had, only curiosity and intrigue. His eyes locking onto her whole body, scanning her completely like an eagle with his golden eyes, before they flashed intensely with a savage glint.

He clenched his claws roughly before approaching Samu and bending over to the floor.

His height was shorter than Samu’s standing height by a head, and his pitch black hair contrasted her hair like the moon and sun.

He grabbed Samu’s feet cuffs with both his hands, which were like those of a lizards. His hands were scaled deathly black, and his nails were as sharp as swords, the scaled skin only stopped at his chin which made it seem like he had an undergarment on.

Then with a small grunt from the youth; the surroundings turned misty with frost and a large clang rang out through the dungeon awakening the residents and Samu. Then the noise of bones snapping entered the ambience, along with a blood gurgling scream of a woman:

“Yaaaaaaaaaa!”

It did not seem to be stopping anytime, and the boy standing next to the howler was not affected in the slightest. He had cloth in his pointy ears which appeared to have diminished all the noise.

His hands let go of the crushed cuffs and broken ankles, and then flew to clamp her mouth shut.

In a room that was filled with countless papers, toys, and weapons. There were two people looking at each other. One person was resting on the big master bed, every limb swathed in bandages and long sticks for amending broken bones. The other, stared at the embarrassed red-face of the injured with a bored grin.

“Did you not remember? Your armour was taken away before you were placed in the dungeon”

“Then, did you...”

This was Samu and the youth that “saved” her from the cell she was in.

“No”

“Then, your men-”

“No!”

The youth began to become irritated and his face started to steam with annoyance, as he lashed out towards Samu with his claws.

“Alright, it’s fine I was just checking!”

“So will you listen to me now?”

“Yup”

“Are you willing to serve me?”

“...Whose side are you on?”

“No side”

“Who are you?”

“Delaron Xavia, it’s polite to say your name first. But there is no need, since I already know all about you.”

“...”

Silence followed the exchange as Samu looked at Delaron with fear and bewilderment, but it only lasted a second as she remembered who stated that. Her voice reached the heavens.

“Haha! If you are Delaron The Great Leader, then I am his wife!”

Blood flowed slowly out Samu’s mouth after her declaration, but she did not voice her pain and instead kept it bottled inside.

“Then you will be informed of your duties by your highers, when you are in a usable state, but for now...rest well, my wife.”

Delaron turned to the door with no expression covering his face. As he walked to the door, a soft cushion assaulted his back, then he made his leave with a smile on his face after stopping in astonishment from the sudden assault.
