China, Beijing, No. XX High School. Beside a window, a small boy who was reading a decrepit book in his hands suddenly closed it with a ‘pa’ sounds followed by his heavy sigh. His name is Karloff Jevons, an oval shape and fresh-faced face wearing eyeglasses with his black student haircut, the clear black eyes that were filled with intelligence and his flat nose, with his thin lips that accentuated his average face though not dislikable. Karloff was wearing his school’s uniform as he was sitting in his chair holding the old book beside the window.
“What are you sighing for?” a straightforward voice resounded in his ears like a clap of thunder.
“Whoa!” replied Karloff with a shock in his voice.
“Don’t scare me like that Jun! It’s not funny!” said Karloff angrily as he faced the owner of the straightforward voice.
“Hehehe, I found you spacing out there, that’s why I called you” answered named Jun.
Jun Coeur was Karloff’s childhood friend and they were a bosom buddy. Their parents were closed to each other like a whole family, but Karloff was always keeping his distance away from Jun because they were different with each other in terms of lifestyle and standings in the society especially their school. Jun Coeur was a tall person, a sword like eyebrows, blue-colored eyes which were captivating and quite rare in Beijing where typically most of the people were Asians; he’s famous in their school in academics and sports even girls were not exempted. Karloff Jevons had always felt remorse inside his heart blaming the heavens for being unfair, though he was also adept in academics.
His lacks on sports and towards the opposite gender makes him lose out and makes Jun have the limelight by himself unconsciously. Though Karloff keeps distancing himself from Jun, but Jun still gave attention to his childhood friend but not that much when Karloff himself was avoiding him.
“Still reading that old and tattered children’s storybook?” Jun laughingly said towards Karloff.
Karloff glared Jun with hatred in his eyes as he replied, “None of your concern if I read this multiple times.”
“O-okay, okay don’t be angry Karloff were childhood friends” answered Karloff as he smiled wryly.
“Childhood your ass Jun!” replied Karloff as he stands up and walks away from him towards the door leaving the classroom.
Jun scratch his head thinking where did he made his mistakes, he felt wronged.
---
In the rooftop where Karloff laying on the floor in a corner where a shade covering his body from the scalding sunlight. His face has traces of sadness and hidden fury that is hard to be seen from his innocent face. He wanted to punch that pretty face of Jun. Sadly he can’t because of his weak physiques that keep rendering him being useless on any sports and the reason why he diverted himself focusing on the technologies and interesting stories aiming to heal his discouragement towards his constitution. Stories such as fantasy novels had kept him moving in the solitary world where no one can lean on for a quiet boy like him. Even to his parents, he can’t express what he was experiencing right now and it felt so hard to say. He has been wishing to have a miraculous encounter to heal his weak body, since when he knew that his body has a weak heart that gave much restriction to what he wants to do.
When he started reading fantasy novels, most of the main characters having their weak constitutions and can also be called near crippled was suddenly healed in a miraculous way. Those were the reasons why he himself greatly hooked up to the books just because they can defy the will of the heavens. A cool breeze from the nearby mountain flew passed him gently and a refreshing and cooling feeling touched his body as if he was caressed by his mother when he was a baby that makes him drowsy. He suddenly felt sleepy that he can’t help himself but to close his eyes.
---
Karloff’s eyelids slowly rose as he woke himself up from his deep slumber.
“Ugh did I sleep too long” scratches his head as he mumbled to himself.
Propping his body but he can’t get up, he looks around, “Where am I? I thought I- w-what!?”
“Where the heck is this place?”
Instead of laying at the rooftop of the school he was now laying on a bed, an ancient golden-colored wooden bed akin to a royal bed, with the intricate carvings which was carved at the surface of the wooden bed, many people would sigh in admiration to the artist who carved the art. The bed was made up of a hard and sturdy wood looking durable even it being ancient. He forced again himself to sit up but in the end, he couldn't do it because of loss of strength, he could only look from side to side like a child seeing a toy for the first time.
The room was filled with the medicinal aroma that whiffs from his nose, it has also chairs placed surrounding his bed and a table from a distance which was loitered with different kinds of medicines and Karloff couldn’t recognize one of them no matter how he observed it. The wall was painted cream and made up of the same type of wood like the ancient bed and was carved the four ancient beast, the Azure Dragon, Vermillion Bird, White Tiger, and Black Turtle and was placed from the east, south, west, and the north respectively.
A ‘creaking’ sound echoes as the door of the room open and an old man slowly enters the door with a bowl in his hands, a strong medicinal fragrance was fleeting towards Karloff. A distinctive pleasing odor smelled by Karloff that soothes his weak body. Just from the smell he felt energized and he thinks that it was an invigorating medicinal soup.
The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
“Oh, you woke up! That’s good, that’s good, that’s good!” an elderly voice came out from the mouth of the old man.
“Doctor Shu Eng?” blurted Karloff and he was shocked.
He suddenly knows who the old man was even though he just saw him for the first time. A flood of memories suddenly rushed deep from his soul which made his head hurt greatly making him in great perspiration.
“Urghhh…”
“Yun’er are you okay!” a melodious yet a worried voice echoed from behind the old man who hastens his footsteps while placing the bowl filled with medicinal aroma at the table. The old man reached Karloff’s hands and he took his pulse while closing eyes as he read Karloff’s pulse.
A span of three breaths, the old man slowly opened his eyes.
“Is he alright Doctor Shu Eng?” the melodious voice of a woman asked.
“He’s fine, just a mild shock from his head but later on he will be alright.” Doctor Shu Eng replied softly but his reply contradicts his expression when creasing his brows, frowning greatly.
Five minutes of torture comes to an end and Karloff slowly fell asleep once again after he bears the great pain in his mind. Though he only lasted for five minutes before his collapse it greatly helps him escape from the terrifying pain.
---
“Ugh, that hurts,” Karloff said waking up from his slumber again.
“Dear Yun’er you're awake!” a melodious yet worried voice echoed once again to his ears.
Karloff tilted his head towards the owner of the melodious voice, he was flabbergasted because of her beauty that outshines the light of day... ugh... day? No, too much sunlight from the window and he can’t even see the beautiful face of her only the outline of her that identifies herself as a lady. As his eyes adjusted against the lightings he can now see the woman’s countenance in front of him, her oval face and with her phoenix-like eyes that can entrap many men with a single flutter of her eyelashes, the brows were well defined like an artist’s calligraphy; Her straight nose accentuated her oval face, though her lips were covered by a veil, it cannot hide the beauty on herself like a moon surrounded by stars. With her curvaceous body making many men drool and dreamed day and night which amplified with her skin that was smooth and white like jade.
“M-mom! I-I’m alright, I’m alright” Karloff’s said with a convincing look on his face.
His sudden response towards the woman was done in a split second of his panic-stricken and a fast lightning reaction with his understanding of what is happening to him, as to why did he suddenly came here like a hospitalized old man or the reason that he was not on the rooftop of his school anymore. It doesn’t matter anymore because his dreams suddenly fulfilled without any effort at all. He understands that he transcends from his world to another world where he calls fantasy!
A fantasy where people call the Wind and Summon the Rain!
The flooding of memories was rushing inside his consciousness was now fully assimilated. Base on the memory fragments he got he was at the South Cloud continent. South Cloud continent, have nine regions with nine capital city the region’s name was based on the capital city it has which was the first Moon Howling City, Blazing Spear City, Cloud Hands City, Sundering Sword City, Frozen Edge City, and so on and so forth.
Karloff was at the Cloud Hands City and which his ‘family’ was residing. The Cloud Hands City’s combat prowess was not the least but not the strongest, but it was unofficially rated by the people but not the person who controls a certain city. Though the rating of each city was not off the charts of their actual combat prowess it was only the surface not the exact ability of each city.
Karloff’s name here was ‘Chen Yun’. He admired the name ‘Yun’ because in his past life he wanted to change his name ‘Yun’ because ‘Yun’ means ‘clouds’. But sadly he couldn't do it because of financial problems and he was scared to go to the hall where he can change his name. Since he shut himself to the outside world, and he only leaves the house when he would attend school. Luckily, though he may not have eaten pork he already saw a running pig but his weak self-confidence barred him from changing his name. Now that he is in another world, the dreams he wants to pursue will be in his grasp not like the old world. Though he felt missing home he can’t let this ‘chance’ passed by and in truth he couldn’t get home so why not take this opportunity. Based on the memory he got, the ‘owner’ of this body was accidentally put on Qi Deviation causing the body nearly ruptured its meridian but luckily ‘he’ prepared many healing pills and pellets to counteract against the Qi Deviation. Sadly, because of exhaustion, he fell from the roof of the highest building in the city, and it was the Cloud Hands City’s Mansion.
On how unlucky the ’owner’ of this body was, has luckily given Karloff a chance to reach his dreams that only existed in fantasy stories. Karloff knows that the owner of this body died miserably but what made him puzzled was why does this body had not turned into a bloody pulp because the height where he fell was staggering 1000 meters!
Karloff believed that other than Doctor Shu Eng there are no possible answers this question, the greatest and humble doctor of the Cloud Hands Cit. The doctor had miraculously healed almost all types of damage has done on the human body even severed arms or legs even being poisoned that made many people believed that there’s no way it can be cured but the doctor miraculously cured the incurable poison and resulting many people admire and almost turning into a worship towards him because of his splendid healing arts, some even called him “The Legendary Doctor” with his “Legendary Healing Arts”. Even though the doctor denied all the assumption from the people but he cannot hide the proud look in his squinting sparkling eyes.
Chen Yun was the son of the Cloud Hands City Lord and her mother was the melodious woman in front of him right now. His father was not around because he was called and he needed to attend the meeting. Lofty Clouded Mountain is the central region of the South Cloud continent’s main power and is the ruler of other regions. The Lofty Clouded Mountain was surrounded by the eight regions like a sun surrounded by its rays. It is said in the memory he got that his father will return next month.
“Yun’er don’t you ever meditate in our mansion’s rooftop again! If you only knew how scared I was if I lost you so please..” his mother gently said.
“Uhm… I will not go there ever again” replied Karloff as he smiled to her.
Feeling relieved from the concern, his mother turn and picked the bowl filled with soup and from the smell of it, it was clearly a nourishing broth that can heal injuries and nourish the body.
