My uncle's name is John and he is from the Hunan province.
During the war against Japan, my uncle was a machine-gunner, and after being honorably wounded, he left the army and returned home.
Then, according to him, within a few years he had drifted abroad again.
He went to military school abroad for a year and a half because he knew a few words and had connections through the military.
After the war of liberation broke out, my uncle returned home resolutely, even though he had not finished his studies.
It wasn't tight enough that he joined the People's Volunteers.
He was a veteran because he had been in the army before and had carried a machine gun against the Japs.
When my uncle was still here, he once told me that his machinegun squad had killed at least a few hundred devils in the past eight days and nights of fighting in xuzhou.
My uncle also rolled up his sleeves, allowing me to make out the scars on his wrists.
The mention of the Japanese made my uncle's teeth tingle, and he beat up the invaders on the Korean battlefield.
Except he wasn't a rifleman on the Korean battlefield, he was a real commando.
Then, in 1997, my uncle died and was buried in the back hills of his old homestead.
During this year's Qingming Festival, I burned paper money for my uncle to send lights, and accidentally found a yellowed diary in his old house.
When I opened it, I couldn't help but be surprised.
It was a thick war diary my uncle kept when he was a special forces soldier in Korea.
Some places are hard to see, but you can guess the general meaning from the context.
Out of respect for history, but also in memory of my uncle's military career.
I decided to write a novel about my uncle who fought the invaders on the Korean battlefield.
Therefore, I will not write this novel from the top of my head, following exactly what is written in my diary, and bringing my uncle back to life.

On October 24, 1952, my uncle's special forces unit got some bad news.
The biggest piece of bad news was that the Soviets, fearing involvement in a direct conflict with the United States, made clear to us that they would no longer provide air support.
The other bad news was that on the same day we entered North Korea, the aggressor's forces had captured the capital Pyongyang.
In the meantime, MacArthur wasn't going to stop there and order the troops on, heading for the border with China.
These two pieces of bad news are very bad for the peace-loving people of China and the DPRK.
Because the equipment of our army is really poor, and also lacks of food and clothing.
Now, without the protection of the air, we will always be exposed to enemy aircraft bombing.
In order to achieve the enemy's goal of advancing toward the border with China, the United States Eighth Army and the South Korean Second Army on the western front, as well as the paratroopers' teams every 18 phases, concentrated a powerful force from the occupied areas of Pyongyang and Shari Yard, heading north along the Jingyi Railway toward the Yalu River.
On the eastern front, the 10th U.S. Army and the 1st South Korean Army, starting from Wonsan and Ham Hyeon districts in Korea, launched fierce attacks on the Kanggang, Huishan and Tumen Rivers, respectively.
They believe the defeated North Korean forces could be pulled back into China, a goal that could be fully achieved if the snow seals off the river.
Therefore, they decided to reach the border area as fast as they could before the snow fell, and to seize all the major traffic points, so that they could seal the Korean People's Army's retreat and thus wipe out the entire KPA.
As we all know, the US imperialist army is armed to the teeth. Its operations are usually mechanized, involving cars, planes and ships, and can be described as very fast.
Even though our army was aware of this, the speed of their attack was something we hadn't expected.
In the face of such severe times, my uncle Gao Daquan's special forces brigade was determined to do its utmost to stop these northern enemies.
It was late autumn, the wind had picked up on the Korean Peninsula, and my uncle and his comrades were still wearing very thin military uniforms.
My uncle, who had never been to the North, faced a life or death test, so to speak.
But in the face of blood and fire, it was my uncle and his comrades who overcame the cold and fought valiantly to rid themselves of these very arrogant enemies.
According to our war plan, there will be buried circles between the wind tunnel and the two waterholes in North Korea.
My uncle's special forces unit, on the other hand, was moving even further into the Warmwell area.
Their main task was to cover the rear of the South Korean 6th Division, 7th Regiment.
"Report Captain, we have enemy forces ahead!"
Wang Fang, the operator and medic of the special forces brigade, picked up the phone and reported the information to the rear headquarters.
"No way, how did the enemy get away so fast, are you guys kidding me?!"
This was said by General Hong Xuezhi, the deputy commander of the volunteer army, who was in charge of special forces and logistics during the Korean War and was directly in charge of the special forces brigade operation.
"Make no mistake, the enemy and we are very close. They have taken the Wynwell area and are not stopping. The motorcade continues down the road toward the northern town! The men ahead are ready to fight. ask command for instructions on our next move."
"Anything else, report it now?!"
Wang Fang thought for a moment and said, "Besides, according to the investigators' report, these enemies are the South Korean army and the Autosoldiers of the Sixth Division!"
General Hong xuezhi was very excited to hear this. He thought for a moment, picked up the phone and said to wang fang, "now I order you to prepare an ambush on both sides of the road from wenjing to beizhen quickly! If I am right, the enemy will be burrowing into your pockets soon. It is best to put them back inside and destroy them all in one fell swoop!"
"is!"
The general's order rang out and Wang Fang relayed it directly to my uncle, the leader of a small group of special forces.
When my uncle heard the general's reply, he was so excited that he could not bear it, and muttered to himself,"good, good! The days of these arrogant people are coming to an end!"
After a few of his commands, a small group of a few dozen comrades quickly found cover.
Everyone had calculated the range of the Triple-Seven, which would effectively cover the road surface and form a cross-fire network on either side.
Most importantly, the grenades the fighters were carrying were also basically able to be thrown onto the road surface.
An earth-shattering battle is about to begin!
