Death of a Fu'gon
chapter 1 the war

chapter 1 the war

Amos, you need to stop pacing around. Father will be here in a minute, to punish both of us for what we  did. Dar'gon, you know one of us had to be there. I didn't ask you to follow me there to watch our father challenge the Su'nox clan chief. You know he didn't want us to be witnesses. He went behind our backs and disregarded the royal family laws, that has the final say. You know we needed to be there to stop the fight, he wanted to kill the clan chief and take the clan of Su'nox. Does he really need the clan for fodder?

Amos, sighs Dar'gon. bother you need to be more careful in how you mess with father's plains. He wouldn't hesitate to kill you.

Who needs to be killed asked, MarCus.

Big brother, We were talking about the Su'nox clan, and how they wouldn't hesitate to kill our father. Oh really, come now baby brother. Do you really

think a chief, of a pathetic clan as Su'nox, could kill father. Marcus laughed, as he walked back up the stairs.

Amos,  you need to let this go before our own sibling kills us for trying to undermine the clan.

Dragon you know I can't. I don't  trust our father after what he did to the Rikan clan, said Amos. That was for our time Amos. That clan was - no Amos, we're done talking about it, exclaim Dar'gon.

Dar'gon, Amos come here, yes father they at the same time.

Father, Said Dar'gon how may we be of service to you? No sooner Dar'gon finish that sentence, father grab him by the throat, and punch him. I told you to keep your brother in line. Every time father said a word he punch Dar'gon somewhere. When he was finished he dropped him on the floor. blood covering his face. How many damn times do I have to show you Amos, you not the one, that's going to be punished. It's going to be the people that have to watch over you. One of these days Dar'gon going to be sick of getting beat, and he will beat you worse then i ever would. This is how the world works Amos. the strong take what they want.

When you come out and counter my challenge, you undermine me with the law. Now instead of having slaves for fodder, I have to wipe out a clan that could have served me. Do you know how hard it was for me to trick them into coming onto my land? It took Marcus bedding the Chief's daughter, without his permission. He brought his whole clan here to fight. I challenged him to fight for his daughter and his clan. I would have killed him brutally in front of his clan, and enslaved the rest. Then someone came out and over ruled with the royal law. One of these days, might be sooner than you think Amos. I will make you kill someone.

Get out of my sight before I beat your weak will brother to death, and make you watch.  Amos picks his brother up, to carry him to healers. When Amos shuts the door, he mutters bastard. i'll kill you one of these days. He walks across the yard the fast way to the healers. Knowing, if he tried to hide the fact that his father had beaten Dar'gon. He'd send someone else to beat him again.

Whan Amos gets to the healers he sits his brother down. on the bed and told them what happened. As Amos was about to leave, Dar'gon grab his arm. You know I'd never hurt you right, whispered Dar'gon. Yea says, Amos. Get some rest. I'll be back soon. I'm going to go train for a bit. Amos leans down and kisses his brother's forehead. then walks out the door.

Walking toward the barracks, amos rests his hands on the pommel of his sword. slowly letting his power drain in the sword and letting flow into the ground. not thinking about what he was doing. looking down, he noticed what he was doing. Shit, it was father's rule, no power in the inner or outer ward. Now Dar'gon going to be getting at random beating, because of me.

I stopped to pick up a Brownie, that was cleaning up the mess I made. My lord, what can I do for you? what's your name little one, asked Amos. he stutters, my, my, my name is Melwas, my lords.

Melwas you mind trying to keep this a secret. Yes my lord. He jumps down and starts cleaning the mess up and starts growing new grass.

Brownies had this gift with magic. they didn't need to cast or channel magic to clean with.

Amos flips a coin to him along with giving him a promise of a debt he could collect at a later date. Thanks my lord. He vanished just as fast, as he cleaned the mess up.

For anyone to practice any kind of power, they'd have to leave the castle's outer ward. The power I have is lighting and wind, it's very hard to control. I've seen what it can do because of my father, he burned a whole town to the ground. Nothing was spared.

finally making it to the barracks. I walked through the barracks front door Ashe, asked Amos. He was out in the training yard, pointed, one of the soldiers. Thanks, grunts Amos walking around the soldiers towards the back door. Ashe, you out here, Amos Asked out loud enough to scare the birds on the fence.

Ashe was looking at the practice area. thinking he needs to make it bigger because of Amos. He jumps when Amos yells his name out only eight or nine feet from him.

Dammit Amos don't do that. You about gave me a heart attack. With Ashe heart rate calming down. he asked. Do you want to practice his magic or sword Amos?

The sword today, smiled Amos. he pulled the sword from its sheath. Amos starts swinging it around getting limber. rotating his shoulders, are you ready Ashe?

Ashe, runs toward Amos without pulling his own sword and strikes out at Amos. Amos steps to his right and swings his sword up vertically, not ready for Ashe to go on the offense. Ashe pivots to his left.

good, says Ashe with a grin. this time i would have not pulled the punch. Amos moves his sword to a ready stance. slowly stepping to the right moving closer to Ashe. Amos darts in for a quick strike, Ashe pivots to his left again. Amos counters with a follow up slash to left knowing Ashe would step left.

He watches Ashe step back and knows he messed up with the slash. As he missed Ashe by hairs. Ashe stepped back in and grabbed Amos by the wrist. with another step forward. Ashe had Amos on the ground and the sword at the back of his neck.

In a lot of pain. Amos Grunts, tries to move with his arm pinned behind him. Ashe wrench it up higher, do you know what  you did wrong Amos?

I was too slow. I should have come back down as I stepped in.. Ah you could have. you could have been faster , a faint, even with another thrust.

Again, as he said this. he slapped Amos in the back of the head.. damn Ashe that hurts.it could alot worse i could slap you with a sword.

Amos got to his hand and knee. Ashe struck out with his foot to kick Amos in the face. Amos rolled with his sword in his left, as he came to his feet, he struck out at hip level to cut Ashe in half.

Ashe laughed , good. good. you're learning to fight dirty.

That's what I need you to do. Amos threw a handful of dirt and rock in his right hand into Ashe's face. When Ashe tried to wipe his face clean, that's when Amos tackled him and just threw

punches right, right , left , right, again, again.

Ashe was laughing the whole time. that's it Amos. Ashe grabbed Amos by the arm and tried to roll him over. But it didn't happen. Amos is stronger than he looks.

What's going on here? Nominis asked louder the second time. That's when Amos stood up and said practice Sir.

Did you do magic inside of interward Amos, ask Nominis. Yes Sir. I did. And did you have Brownie clean it up? Yes Sir. Nominis grabs up Amos by the throat and looks at Ashe to leave them, snarling Nominis.

Soon as Ashe was out of sight, Nominis slammed Amos in the ground. Get up boy, you want to beat up the weapon’s master. Well here I am, fight me. I know you want to. I’ll even grant you permission to use magic.

No Sir, I will not use magic within the wards. The punishment is death. Amos bent over, never taking his eyes off of his father. Thinking about what his father was doing here. How did he find out I did magic? Did Melwas betray him already. Was every creature loyal to my father? He sheathed his sword. Meanwhile, still trying to find out what his father wanted.

Nominis, not even paying attention to his son, just turned around and started to walk out of the training grounds. As he reached the fence he said we will ride for the Su'nox clan tomorrow.
