Ch. 2: The Death Mark

Because he wore an armour Dante couldn't see it, but around his Orb a flaming skull took shape.

The skull was purple in color and had some hints of gold in the flames, it gave off an eerie feeling.

The skull was laughing at the world.

Just when he was about to cut Dante's throat with his dagger, Peter froze.

That wasn't because he had a sudden Vietnam war flashback nor did he stop because someone tried to reincarnate and take over his body.

He froze because of reverence.

Reverence which stemmed from his very soul and blood, it was something that trascended race, social status, good, evil, life and death.

An Absolute Will which disregarded the Heavens themselves appeared before him, as if to tell them that he had returned and will beat them for good.

Peter obviously couldn't grasp the entirety of this will, and that was good for he would have exploded due to the difference in power.

Thunder rumbled in the sky.

Just as it appeared the tremendous presence disappeared, as if it never existed in the first place.

Dante thought that he was at the end of the rope and had even closed his eyes, submitting to his fate.

But after waiting for a couple of seconds he still didn't feel a cold blade slash his throat.

Opening his left eye he saw the Human.

Just a second ago they were at each other's throats, but to Dante's own bewilderment he saw the Human kowtowing in his direction.

Dante was first shocked by the strange course of action taken by the Human but after the initial shock he glared at the Human with thick killing intent.

However just when he was about to move.

"Stay your hand Great Demon, my name is Peter.

It was my foolishness just now attacking your great self, I didn't know that your master was such a supreme expert. Please, forgive my foolish behaviour and let's turn over a new leaf."

Peter paused for a moment before saying.

"I'm not like those fools which preach about killing only because of race or religion, I know my limits and don't want to sow any enmity between us.

The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

I only kill for benefit or if you have offended me or those which I care about.

I'm grateful because you gave me the opportunity to experience such an aura, it really broadened my horizons...

If you ever visit one of the Human states, use one of these cards and you will be able to find hospitality in any of the branches of the Kemil Clan."

After finishing his speech, Peter sent floating a metallic card in the hands of Dante, on it was written 'Kemil'. As if suddenly remembering something, Peter said.

"This little one would be honored to know the name of your noble self, milord!"

Dante was stunned by the Human's change.

What the fuck, we were fighting to the death a moment ago, isn't this too sudden?

Don't you have any shame?

I almost lost my little life just now!

And what about all that crap you just spewed, do you have brain damage?

Despite the initial shock, Dante was quick to recover his composure.

Much to his luck, Peter had his head lowered through the whole speech so he didn't see his change of expressions.

"The name of this Lord is Dante, I forgive you for your foolishness just this once. Tell me why did you try to kill me just now, if it wasn't because of racism or religion?"

"Actually, Your Majesty, the reason behind all of this is due to my great luck. While Your Majesty was running on the battlefield before, it happened that one of Your gracious steps landed on my wretched right arm, crippling it in the process.

Blinded by fury, I sought vengeance without knowing the depth of your Esteemed Self."

"Mmm, it was actually like this. I feel sorry for your loss, can I be of any help?"

"No, no, Your Majesty has already shown me great kindness by forgiving me just now.

I can't take advantage of Your Majesty's grace.

Now with Your Majesty's consent, I have to return to my camp and settle my wound after reporting.

No, I won't say anything about our encounter."

"Then farewell Peter, let's cross each other's paths again in the future!"

"Sure, Your Majesty!"

And with that they parted ways.

No one would have expected that the tiny ripples which formed today would one day become a tidal wave.
