Thane looked at the abandoned clock room. There was no one there. Amy had told him that she would be here in this room, yet she wasn’t here. “Wait, maybe something happened to her.” These thoughts rolled around in Thane’s mind as his eyes gazed Thane’s black coal eyes showed shock and worry. Amy’s face showed amusement, but also a bit of shock. She expected them to be there as well. “Well this should be an interesting day” Amy glanced at Thane’s face as these thoughts raced through her mind. She saw the worry in his eyes and shock.
“You said she would be here Amy. Where is she?” Thane’s once open mouth was now focused in hard expression. Thane’s black eyebrows curved sharply with his eyes, which reflected the mood in his eyes. His midnight black eyes gave off a determined and hard feeling. All of his facial features seemed to suddenly harden to the likeness of a rock. Amy glanced at Thane and noticed this apparent change. “Time to take on a serious tone. Unfortunately.” Amy thought this as she gave Thane a response.
“I don’t know Thane. Her angel told me she would meet you here don’t blame me. While we are here though, I need to know how you broke your legs, so we can avoid it today or whenever it occurs. If we don’t to avoid it than you will have a horrible day.” Amy shifted her position with a little shove of her wings. She now faced Thane, while on top of the red and black table. Amy folded her wings behind her, and folded them together. Her messy hair curled around her face in a frame like manner, as if her face was a picture. “Thane, I know you are worried about Marissa, but she’ll be fine. She is a big girl after all. We’ll worry about her later. Ok? For now let’s talk about your legs, and then we’ll get out of here.” Thane took a deep breath, while he closed his eyes for a moment as the air rushed from his chest and out of his mouth.
Thane’s face had lightened up greatly, and he now looked a bit less stressed and more at ease. “One more thing. What did you mean I would gain an ability when you said that while we were in heaven?”
“Well, what I meant is what I said. I don’t know when that will be but usually strong emotions awaken your powers. Sometimes when making a contract, you get an assigned power, other times it’s random.” Amy stated this as her wings disappeared with a flash of light. “Oh, don’t power down on me. Damn it I hate that automatic timer, back to the topic at hand though. I can’t teach you to use your power if I don’t know what it is.”
“Since you have time, why don’t you explain to me what’s going then.” Thane responded as he seated himself in the black chair. He lounged back in his chair stretching his legs out in front of him turning his gaze towards the sun as it rose into the sky it shone a beautiful red color. It was an amazing site. The sun itself was not visible, but its position was fairly discernible. The sunset stretched across in a blaze of fire. The presentation itself was hard to miss as it was a glaring red surrounded by a sea of orange. The red started at the center of the great orange expanse and twisted its way into the sky. From there the red began to expand to a great size. It was shaped in the likeness of a dragon. “Wow.” Thane gasped out of his mouth as he gazed upon the scarlet dragon. It glowed with radiant brilliance in the sky.

“You should know things are going to change very quickly very soon. Your friends death while not the original domino caused a chain reaction that we in the other world still don’t understand.” The tone Amy was using gave Thane chills as she spoke.
“What’s going on Amy? Why does it feel like I’m about to get into more shit than I realize.” Thane was only 14 right now after all.
“Well, there is no afterlife really.” Thane just shut his mouth at statement. But he had just died. This didn’t make any sense whatsoever. “The reason we don’t let people die as soon as they normally die is because we need certain actions to occur to maintain order of your world. We angels and other beings in the afterlife, as you mortals like to call it, just try to make sure your world doesn’t blow up into smithereens because of your dumb decisions. Unfortunately, demons and guardians, a section of beings in the afterlife, are fighting over a representative here on earth and it seems to be causing problems.”
“Why don’t you just sit down and talk things out like adults then,” Thane stopped after he heard himself say that. Thane knew just a day ago he wouldn’t have said that. His first thought would’ve been give the more powerful guys what they want. His mind suddenly did not feel like his own.
“Well they are, but the people in charge of making sure time flows correctly are noticing errors, and we think the demons may be trying to skew things in their favor.” Thane thought what Amy said made sense. It felt like a bit much though.
“Why are they going to such extreme lengths though? Why not just find another representative.” Thane felt like maybe he wasn’t getting the whole picture here, but he might as well ask his questions.
“Representatives last for over a thousand years man, they’re not something you pick up and put down after you find a better one. Once you choose them, you’re stuck with them until they die, which with extended lifetime makes for about a thousand years.”
"Who actually got the representative then?"
"The Guardians, but here's the funny thing, after the representative was chosen all of the Guardians disappeared. It was like they never existed. There was no trace of them left whatsoever. Fortunately we have you and Marissa to prevent that from happening this time. We truly believe the Demons are to blame for this. They get pissed and find a way to remove the Guardians from time, space, and history. We need you to find the Guardian's represenative and protect them. Demons will come after them, and they will probably go back to archaic methods of taking someone as a representative." Amy had started pacing in the middle of her rant.
"Well, why am I the representative of the demons now then. Well they are a special species. They can have as many as they want, as long as they are good match to be apart of the Demons, there is just an additional cost to being a part of them."
At that moment the bell rung for first period. Marissa had never shown up. Thane couldn’t help but wonder where in the world she was.
