Alexandra Dalton POV
I'm standing in front the strange man who had barged in on my spar with me and my sister, Christi. Recalling how he had burst into our camp site, I couldn't help but snicker. Although we were quite surprised when he came out of the forest, the other Knights and I quickly regained our composure, drawing our weapons and demanding him to disarm himself. Although he was quite compliant, sheathing his blade and allowing us to cuff him, we couldn't let our guard down for a single moment. There aren’t many people who would not be compliant when surrounded by a group of knights.
Standing in front of him, I get a good look at him for the first time. I was so caught up in the moment earlier, I didn't really pay much attention to him and focused on his body overall. Examining him and observing him in case he had decided to attack me or Christi behind him. He is wearing a rather extravagant black robe that was lined with intricate designs and had silver trimmings that contrasted the black and matched the colour of his hair. I'm unable to clearly see his face however as he is currently slumped on the ground, muttering something about being a laughing stock to "the others". Others? As I realised the implications of the word I quickly draw my sword and rest the tip on his shoulder, threatening to chop his head off if he wasn't cooperative.
"Where are the others?" -Alexandra
"Huh? Only I came here." -Mlithru
As my words snapped him out of his own little world of self-pity, he turned to me and answered my question. As I look at his face closely I couldn't help but to slightly blush at his handsome features and blood red eyes. I can't be side-tracked right now! Refocusing myself, I begin interrogations again.
"You mentioned others, where are they?" -Alexandra
"Like I said, not here." -Mlithru
"If they're not here then where are they!?" -Alexandra
"If they aren't here, then obviously they're somewhere else!" -Mlithru
"Then where is this somewhere else!?" -Alexandra
"Not here!" -Mlithru
I retract my earlier blush, I'm seriously going to kill this idiot if he keeps up this stupid charade. Let's try a different approach.
This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.
"So it's safe to say they can't attack us right now?" -Alexandra
"I guess? Why would they attack you?" -Mlithru
"I don't know? Because your bandits" -Alexandra
His face changes to an inquisitive look as he stares at me, looks at himself and returns his gaze to me.
"Do I really look like a bandit?" -Mlithru
"... Point taken." -Alexandra
"Did you really take me for a bandit?" -Mlithru
"I don't know, you just kind of showed up and wanted our weapons!" -Alexandra
"I wanted you to drop your weapons, what else do I do if I want to peacefully stop a fight?" -Mlithru
“Ummmm”
“Not to mention, you were standing over the other girl and looked like you were going to kill her. How was I supposed to know it was a spar?” -Mlithru
"I guess it could have looked misleading if- Wait! I'm the one asking questions here, not you!" -Alexandra
"Then ask me a question instead of answering them" -Mlithru
If I just swing my sword right now, to the left... Just one simple swing. No one would judge. I could just say he was a bandit. Just one little swing.
"*Cough* *Cough* Okay then, why did you attack me?" -Alexandra
"I only shoved you, looked like you were attacking the girl." -Mlithru
Fair point, he could of stabbed me instead of shove me and he didn't attack Christi who was lying at his feet.
"Why are you here then? This place is a known hotspot for magical beasts and unless you have a real reason, everyone stays away from this place." -Alexandra
"I wanted to ...explore the forest." -Mlithru
He hesitated. I swear he hesitated. I'm definitely not looking for an excuse to stab him. But since he didn't stab me earlier, I'll [try] to not stab him.
"You're lying. Why are you really here?" -Alexandra
"I have no real reason to be here; I was just wandering and ended up here. That's the truth." -Mlithru
Damn, he told the tru- I mean, looks like it's the truth. But I can't just free him. He was ridiculously fast when he jumped in front of Christi and who knows if he'll just attack us. Bandit or not, it's best to take him back and find out more. But we can't do that, father said that the strange light we saw earlier must be investigated immediately and I need all my men to wander through the forest so I can't send him back with an escort. Weighing my options, I decide its best to bring him along and hope that I won't have headache dealing with him or chop his head off to stop the headaches.
