A Very Late Announcement (Unfortunately)

A Very Late Announcement (Unfortunately)

Dear Readers,

Yeah, it's been two months of indecision on my part whether or not I can continue this story or not. I sincerely apologize for how late my announcement is, really. To be honest, it's mainly because I find it hard to suddenly stop releasing chapters only to come out empty-handed.

I had to have at least something to show you, so, yeah, silly me delayed this one.

That, and I actually tried to write Volume Two still. There are actually unreleased chapters out there, some on my Patreon, some on my docs. Unfortunately, I really ran into trouble a lot during Volume Two, mainly with the system, how it would work in the actual naval combat, how I'd balance the ships and the whole shebang. Unfortunately, while I think I did, I don't know, half-decent on the characters' part, and I did show their stories themselves, I fumbled the fun LitRPG part and most importantly, integrating it into space warfare and a proper progression fantasy type of thing, which is the goal of Volume Two, to finally fully introduce it as a major plot-point.

What I did have unfortunately conflicted in some ways with Volume One, so, yeah, it's a tricky situation. That and, the story actually didn't gain much traction, and all the other factors, and well, the project went into a dead halt. And I can't really start releasing Volume Two without assurance that I can finish it to the end, I find that, quite frankly, unacceptable. I like completing volumes. I did it in Sovereign, I did it here, and yeah, I decided to simply keep it this way. Deadman's Path, will, for now, be at least, a finished pilot volume.

And yeah, until then, I probably won't be able to pick this story up again. If I ever do, I think it won't be a LitRPG, and it most likely would be rewritten greatly, because, I'm going to be honest, I still love space warfare a lot. I loved the characters of this story. I think, in a way, I grew attached to writing them, which is why it was hard to decide whether or not I should continue or not, but unfortunately, yeah.

Help support creative writers by finding and reading their stories on the original site.

Still though, as I've said, I must have something to show after months of inactivity in this story. And, yeah, while I was fumbling at trying to do Volume Two, and being indecisive, I didn't waste all that free time not writing. Instead, there's an upcoming story on July 22 that I'm launching, and it's called Re:Jager, a time loop isekai. So far, I'm more satisfied with this one, considering how easier it was to integrate the LitRPG elements on it, and, mainly because I learned from Deadman's Path a lot, and had a lot of advice on writing this one with one of my patrons, and a bunch of other beta readers.

So far, half of the one hundred chapter Volume One is done, and I am speedrunning the rest. It's also in the third person POV style, which I found as something I actually am really more experienced in considering how I can write there more decently, at least from my view. But yeah, it's an isekai story about a veteran penal mech pilot finding himself in a high fantasy world, and his main shtick is he has to upgrade his crappy mech through the system (and himself) to fight SCP-level demonic creatures threatening apocalypse. And, because it's a time loop, yeah he dies a lot.

So yeah, if you still like my storytelling style and need more, you can check that out from July 22 onward. I hope the next one doesn't actually fumble, since I tried hard to learn from the lessons writing Deadman's Path gave me.

Thanks for reading this, and, really, sorry guys, it's been two months and I just disappeared, well, not really in Sovereign, but yeah, even there I honestly just auto-scheduled stuff. I guess this is me when I get too into writing, I literally go radio silent.

Even still, see you on the next one, on that story if you are ever interested, dear reader. And most importantly—thanks for reading this, and Deadman's Path.
