The rest of the zombies I killed had nothing useful. So, I decided not to wait for the sea weather and find a way out of the building. I slowly opened the door and walked out into the corridor, heading for the duty station. It was a good thing I was on the ground floor at that moment, otherwise my moving through the building would have guaranteed me a lot of troubles.
But as I approached the duty station, which was not far from the front door, I was met with a huge disappointment. It looked like a bunch of zombies standing motionless with their backs to me.
I almost got away when something crashed on the first floor and the whole crowd turned and looked in my direction. I rushed up on automatic, hoping the zombies would have trouble with the stairs. Yeah, fuck it.
I thought I'd never run so fast in my life. I tugged at the doorknobs, hoping to find an open door. I probably would have been eaten there, there were too many of them, but I was lucky, twice: the first time when the zombies braked at the turnstile, and the second time when I came across an open office in the middle of the corridor.
I ran in, slammed the door and immediately turned the lock. After a few seconds I felt a palpable bang coming from down the corridor.
- Joe, why the hell didn't you lock the door? - I heard a voice behind me.
- I thought you did it. - The other man replied in shock.
When I turned around, I saw that I was not the only one alive in the building. In the office, sitting comfortably on chairs, were four policemen and a young girl, also in uniform. A police uniform.
- Who the hell are you? - the tallest of them asked menacingly.
- Shall we get acquainted first and then move on to the threatening stage? - I suggested.
- Listen, smart-ass, we're going to fuck you up right now and throw to the walkers! - hissed the man.
- Are you sure you're a policeman? The Gangsters are more polite in my city.
The man sitting next to the girl jumped up, came over to me and shook my hand.
- I'm Joe. The girl's name is Mary. This is Jimmy, Phil and Ed, - he introduced me to all present and then turned to his colleagues. - That's enough, men. We're all in the same shit and we've got to get out of here somehow. We could use the extra hands.
- OK, sorry - said the policeman, who was introduced to me as Ed, in a calmer tone - now everyone's nervous.
- It's all right. I'm Matt.
- And why are you in the station? You are obviously not from the staff.
- I was brought here this afternoon as a murder suspect, - I replied, correcting myself immediately when I saw her reaction, - I killed a zombie, a zombie. It's just that the whole fucking thing was just starting, so nobody believed me, you know.
- So it was you who killed Millers's son? - Joe chuckled. - The whole station was talking about it.
- I don't know who Miller is, but it's probably me. He bit a girl in front of me, and then he mauled my student to death, - I said sullenly.
- Yeah, it sucks.... And what do you teach? - Phil asked for the first time.
- It doesn't matter. Do you have a plan? Maybe we can get out through the window?
- If we could, we wouldn't be here. First of all, there's bars on the windows, and if we break them, we'll invite all the zombies from the neighborhood for a tasty lunch. And secondly, we won't get through.
- What's wrong?
- See for yourself.
I looked out the window and whistled. There were at least 40 dead people wandering around the grounds. Or more.
- Fucked up, I said.
- I couldn't agree with you. How did you get out of the bars in the first place? Mitchell ran out when the shooting started and said he'd locked you in.
- When he turned into, I stole his keys and his baton. Then I literally fought my way to the exit, but those who are now outside the door were waiting for me.
- That's tough. How many did you kill? Did you hit them in the head like in the films?
- I haven't tried in other places, but I think so. And what are we going to do, men?
- Think, Matt, personally, we'll think.
We spent the next few hours talking. I finally heard Mary's voice and learned that she had just started an internship in the Investigations Department. I can imagine the excitement that the girl caused when she firstly appeared in this building. Her long black hair, plump, sensual lips, short height, slender figure and breast size three made her a desirable object for most of her colleagues.
But Lisa had already made her choice, judging by the way she looked at Joe. Whether he was the Head of Investigations or not, I did not know, but her choice was not particularly surprising. In my opinion, he was clearly the most suitable person of the assembled company.
Ed was the head of the Murder Squad, and Jimmy and Phil were ordinary police officers. It could be seen unaided eye that Ed was the leader of the company. Joe and Mary sat apart, not particularly interested in socializing.
Twelve hours later...
Lucky or not, in the bottom drawer of the table we found some sausages, cheese and twelve bottles of vodka. It turned out that there was a staff member's anniversary that evening, so some of the supplies were in that office. I refused to drink, but the others decided to get drunk.
Sixty hours later.....
No one had a good idea of how to get out of here. So, everyone kept drinking. And I laid down and thought about what was going on with Alice and Kiara.
Eighty-four hours later....
Since I had no ideas, I also decided to drink for the company. And the number of zombies on the street was increasing. Better to die of hunger than to be eaten. Joe was sitting down in a corner and whispering to Lisa. I decided not to call my family, not to upset them....Better to believe I was alive and tried to reach them.
Four days passed....

I had a dream.
I went into the office I had rented for the training sessions, and I saw my student Oscar on the other side of the hall fucking a girl he had picked up in the shopping center. She's crying, but she's taking it submissively. And then she looked up at me and said in a whisper: "Matt, help me...". I walked over to him, tugging on Oscar’s shoulder, trying to find out what the hell was going on. He turned to me and I saw the bloody, desperate face of a zombie. Then I wake up.
After all that drinking, I was very thirsty, but we'd run out of water in the cooler yesterday. My head was throbbing with pain, and I didn't even want to open my eyes. But I belatedly realized that I kept hearing cries for help. That's what made me see what was going on in the office.
And what was going on was this: Joe was lying in the corner with his head bashed in. I couldn't tell if he was dead or not. And in the other part of the room, Mary was lying naked on a table, being fucked from both sides at the same time. She was crying, but the knife at her throat made her wiggle her arse and caress the cock with her tongue. Her clothes were torn on the floor.
- If you stop, I'll slit your fucking throat, - I heard Ed threaten.
To be honest, I didn't understand why they killed Joe but didn't touch me. Apparently, they decided that if I started drinking with them, I would support their other actions. So, I decided to play along to gain advantage.
- Men, I see you are having fun - I stretched and tried to say it in the most cheerful voice - do you mind if I join in?
Mary, hearing my words, only cried harder and howled. As much as her busy mouth allowed.
- I told you, this is our man! - Phil chuckled. - Where do you want her?
- First in her mouth and then I'll do her arse,' I replied.
- Ed moved away from her to make room for me. - While you were asleep, we've been working on her for an hour.
Yes, that was my problem. As soon as I got drunk, I fell into a deep sleep. And that time my peculiarity played a terrible trick on me. If I had woken up earlier, Joe might still be alive.
I moved closer to the girl's face. I ran my fingers over her lips and began to unbuckle my belt.
- Ed, put the knife away, let her work more actively - I told him.
- So, she can bite off - he replied cautiously.
- She will do nothing. Can't you see that the girl has already surrendered and is actively waving herself?
- Well...
As soon as he pulled the knife away from the girl's throat, he received a powerful punch to the jaw, guaranteeing a blackout for some time.
- Get the fuck away from her! - I grabbed the fallen knife and charged at the cops.
I put on the girl's police jacket that was hanging on the rack, took Mary into the corner and sat her down on a chair.
- Wait a bit, I'll take care of them and come back.
The creatures didn't even think of attacking, apparently impressed by how quickly I had taken out their leader.
- What the hell are you bitches doing? Are you crazy?
- Never mind, Matt, we're going to die anyway. At least we had fun one last time. Why are you...?
- Shut the fuck up! Quickly attach this hog to the radiator! And yourself too.
They did as I told them without complaint. My emotions were raging inside of me.
- It's not even a few days has passed and already this shit happens. A man has been killed. Why don't I just fucking kill you now? What did you say? Are we going to die anyway?
- No!
- No!!!
Joe, as it turned out, was beaten first, and when he woke up, his throat was slit. Just a few minutes before I woke up. So, the lynching of the bastards had to wait.
- Mary, turn around, please," I said, grabbing my baton and watching the zombie is getting up. - You don't need to see this.
A few more blows and the head of the investigation department dead again.
I had been sitting there for hours, thinking that I had to get out of here. It would soon be unbearable to be here with the corpse in the corner. I even thought of killing the three of them and throwing them into the corridor as bait. And then either kill the zombies, if there weren't too many of them, or just run away.
The only problem was that I had Mary with me. I knew in my head that this girl was nothing to me, but I couldn't leave her here. Even considering that I was expected in another city. Although, if thought about it rationally: What Saint Louis I could talk about if I couldn't even get out of the police station for a few days? And that was taking into account the fact that I had no idea what was going on in the city. We didn't have a TV. And our phones were dead by the second day.
When Ed woke up, he tried to free himself. But after I promised to break his head, he abruptly stopped this futile attempt.
While I was trying to figure out how to get out of the situation, several gunshots were heard in the corridor. Then a young couple burst into the room, dressed head to toe in leather and armed with Rimingtons. Well, I think the lock just didn't work here. I distinctly remembered locking the door.
- Is anyone alive? I don't think the zombies wanted to get into this office for no reason,' the girl said cheerfully.
- Yes," I said. - I'd ask who you are, but I don't really care right now, because we can't stay in this room any longer.
- What has happened here? - said the bearded man without any amusement in his voice. - Why is there a dead body and these three men are chained to the radiator?
- A girl was raped. The man lying in the corner was practically her boyfriend. Unfortunately, I couldn't intervene.
- Is it true? - the girl's voice sounded threatening.
- Guys, we're cops and this guy's crazy! Let us go and we'll talk to you properly.
- Who was that? - she asked Mary, ignoring the trio.
She pointed at the bastards and cried.
- You are adequate, aren't you? Let's make a deal. - Ed tried to stand up.
And that was all he had time to do. The girl fired a burst from the machine gun, killing all three. Carefully lifting Mary, they walked out into the corridor. The bearded man closed the door behind us, then took out a can of spray paint and wrote: "Murderers and rapists!
- Are you sure we can get through the crowd at the entrance? - I asked, thinking we wouldn't even get through in this formation.
- We came in from the other side,' the girl replied quickly, walking down the corridor.
The two of them had combat experience, as they cleared the ground floor of any remaining zombies in a very professional manner.
- We've sealed off the top two floors. Do you know if there's anyone alive up there?
- I was on the ground floor when it started. So, I have no idea,' I replied.
- When Joe and I... - Mary paused, but continued, "When Joe and I went downstairs, there was no one upstairs. But we didn't check all the offices.
- Well, there aren't enough of us to clean those floors anyway. So, follow us. And be careful, watch out for dark corners. Those creatures sometimes hide there.
To my surprise, we weren't going in the direction of the exit, but were heading for the first floor.
- Where are we going now? - I wondered.
- You'll see. I hope you are good at jumping.
Even though the couple said the floor was clear, we moved cautiously. As we entered one of the cabinets, I saw that the window was open, and the occasional shots could be heard from outside.
There was a lorry under the windows that had been driven up through the park behind the police station. There were three fighters on the roof, watching the perimeter and wiping out any zombies that tried to get near the vehicle.
- What took you so long? - the man shouted, continuing to shoot. - Another ten minutes and we wouldn't have been able to get out of here.
- We were fiddling with the lock, then saving the survivors. Get in the car, all of you!
I had no trouble on the way down. But for Lisa, who was wearing only police jacket, it was a bit more difficult. But with the help of the men we managed, and then we loaded into the Outlander, parked near the lorry and hit the gas. Well, the first stage of my journey can be considered to be over. I got out of this goddamn police station.
We drove for quite a while, stopping at several grocery stores along the way. I offered to help, but they politely declined, pointing out that I couldn't do much with my baton. I realized they didn't trust me with a normal weapon. That's understandable: I might be a madman.
The city looked sad. Fires, zombies, the occasional car passing by. A few times people tried to attract attention, but our rescuers didn't stop. When I asked why we couldn't help someone, I was told they had a plan and would stick to it.
It wasn't long before we were out of the city, and after a short drive around the roundabout, we turned into one of the villages. We pulled into a private property and finally started to unload. The house was really impressive. It was a huge piece of land, surrounded by a stone wall, and I noticed twenty security cameras around the perimeter. There was a four-storey house in front of us, with columns at the entrance and glass walls on the ground floor.
- Oh my God! Is this your place? - I asked, continuing to look around.
- No, ours is in the next village,' the girl said. - And we came here when we heard that the owner of this splendor had gathered his family and left the country as soon as it all started.
- As if something else was waiting for them there - her partner snorted.
The girl's name was Vikki. And the bearded man was her brother Paul. Their father was a former Special Forces officer, so he had taught his children the art of war since childhood, which helped them a lot during the zombie apocalypse.
They went to the police station to clean out the armory. Their uncle used to work in that department, so the choice fell on it. The rest of the team was made up of local villagers who knew how to use a gun.
It looked like I was finally going to be able to sleep without worrying about getting bitten.
