Baji Belmir

He switched to a different station; country music. No, alternative rock? How about rap? No. Ah, the classics were better. He wasn't in the mood for some of the modern rock at the moment, but Led Zeppelin would do.

The roads passed them by.

"Hey, quit messing with the radio."

Baji sent his cousin a glare, but she ignored it with disdain. Alicia was an incredibly beautiful woman, with a terrifying personality. Her ability to intimidate men of any size tends to lead to soiled pants. It also doesn't help that she's a gunslinger who can shoot a mark a mile away with a pistol. Give her a sniper rifle, and she could become a one-man army in nearly any field. It also helped that Alicia was a mean scrapper.

"You'd better listen to her, mate." A giant green hand the size of a trash can landed on his shoulders. His stature was intimidating, easily towering over nine feet in height. And yet, despite his massive size, of muscles and sinew, the orc was built with flexibility in mind. A super soldier with supernatural strength and speed, Elfen Belstretter created miracles in a battlefield. "She could get quite insufferable."

Alicia responded, "I'll pretend I didn't hear that, El."

"So, what's the mission?"

The third member was a half-elven war magus. Coming from an old family with a legacy that dated back for thousands of years, had allowed Nerimae Phayecharis to study magic with the best of the best. It also helped that their family helped fund half the magus academies in their country and some other non-profit groups. Then, Nerimae ran away to join the war.

A woman of statuesque Amazonian beauty, her prowess in the battlefield allowed her to be the backbone of any military operation; nothing short of low-yield warheads would stop someone like her. Even then, she managed to survive such measures taken against her.

"Extermination mission," Baji replied, as he concentrated on the road. "A horde of undead was released in a small town up north. Get in, and eliminate the target."

"And the civilians we come across?" El leaned in, his huge frame casting a shadow upon him. Baji would have been intimidated by him, but he knew the orc for far too long. He was just a big softy at heart.

"Ensure they don't get in our way. If otherwise, ask for their help in whatever way they could provide," Baji took out his phone, and found the file of the town map. After a few seconds, he sent the map to the rest of his team. A ping alert echoed inside the jeep. "The military already located the source of this magical energy, and we believe the necromancer to be a novice, a John Bennit. It's possible the boy found a book from a pawn shop or something a couple of months ago and got way out of his depth."

"Ah, I'm surprised we're not there to haul his ass in front of a general to be recruited," Nerimae, or Nim, as he calls her, said, sounding amused. "Necromancy is a useless class in this day and age, I suppose, but the military could always use more warm bodies to throw at."

"Interference?" El asked.

"None. The nearby towns are already on lockdown and are cooperating. Barriers have been erected and ensured a clean sweep throughout the area to ensure no zombies roam about. The town is contained, and it won't get out." Baji replied.

"That dumbass kid has enough deaths on his hands to have left him imprisoned for life. Why go for all this trouble? Why didn't the military just wipe out the town?"

Alicia was, as usual, annoyed about everything.

"I don't think killing our own civilians would paint a great reputation for the military, or us," El dryly replied. "And committing war crimes would have us locked up for good."

Baji passed a road sign, which said, 'Welcome to Vilian Town.'

"Almost there. Get your gears ready, we're going in soon."

Their last ten-minute ride was in silence, perhaps praying to their gods, or contemplating their life choice, or just getting hyped up for a suicide mission. The town was once a hundred thousand, and while zombies could multiply, which in any normal circumstances could be contained without much trouble, there was something off about this one particular necromancer that made the military nervous enough to send in a kill team. For an untested teenage boy with little to no magical skills? Baji knew they sent them on a possible, and more than likely, a suicide mission.

Well, that's what they're there for. It was their job to get it done.
