So at first I wasn’t going to start posting until I had around 10 chapters, but I thought I’d ask you guys on your thoughts about some topics and talk about the future. As you could tell by the first few chapters, I want this story to feel more like an adventure than someone playing a video game, and this leads to some problems since it’s based on a video game. Wanting this feeling of the story being an adventure is also why I want to use the least amount of tables as I can. So what are your guys’s thoughts on using tables for distributing souls at bonfires(if you don’t play Dark Souls you’ll see what I mean in the next chapter or so) and more importantly, when the mc acquires items. I hadn’t planned on using tables when he gets items since it feels so much like a video game, but the more I think about it the more I might use them. Using tables for those situations can lead to giving more information about the object, like
Estus FlaskThe Undead treasure these dull green flasks.
Stolen content warning: this tale belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences elsewhere.
Fill with Estus at bonfire. Fills HP.
The Estus Flasks are linked to the Fire
Keepers. The Dark Tales also make reference:
An emerald flask, from the Keeper's soul.
She lives to protect the flame,
And dies to protect it further
So again, what are your thoughts on this? Also, it might be a while since I post. I only have around 70 hours in the game so I still don’t know much about it. But there’s just so many paths to take, so many npcs to meet, I’ll need to do a bit more research before continuing. I also plan to change a few things like adding an extra character and other smaller things.
