In an immaculate private hospital room, the silence was broken periodically by the steady beeping of a heart rate monitor, the sole source of sound in the otherwise empty and quiet space. A lone bouquet sat on the windowsill, its petals visibly wilting as if no one had taken care of it in quite some time. The room would have appeared completely devoid of life had it not been for the still body of Ji-ah, asleep on the hospital bed.
After a brief period of peaceful beeping, maintaining a steady rhythm, it very quickly intensified, the beeping becoming nearly relentless. The machine screamed, beeping as frantically as possible, which very quickly alerted nurses to come barging into the room, worry etched on their faces as they came running to Ji-ah's side.
Ji-ah stayed still, the heart rate monitor beeping in an erratic matter faster and faster, her breathing becoming haggard and inconsistent as her heart rate spiked. At any moment, it would flat line, the nurses becoming more and more frantic with every passing second until–
Ji-ah gasped for air like she had come out of the water after a deep swim. She jolted straight up into a seated position, heavily startling the nurses in the room. They swarmed around her, trying to make sure that she was alright while Ji-ah seemed to stare off into space, the beeping gradually slowing down to a regular beat.
She could see it clearly, the lines of numbers and words appearing beautiful in her eyes hovering before her, completely unnoticed by the bustling nurses encircling her. They were preoccupied with concerns that she couldn't care less about at the moment.

"I finally did it," she whispered, her face lighting up with a smile, as the nurses, content with her improvement, left to inform the doctor about her recovery. With the room all to herself, Ji-ah eagerly leaned over the notifications, urging them to open.
Welcome Hyun Ji-ah! You have achieved the requirements to become an Awakened as dictated by the system!
Ji-ah felt a shiver through her skin, the corners of her mouth lifting even more as she fantasized about how she would become a hunter. She knew that most hunters could make thousands a day, even millions if they had good abilities. More than that, she couldn't wait to see the looks on her parent's faces when they saw the "perfect little girl" they raised was all for nothing. She chuckled quietly with a mischievous look in her eye, momentarily lost in thought before refocusing on the notification tabs.
Taking into account your current physiology and mentality, you have been assigned the class of Healer.

"Wait, hold on..." Ji-ah stilled, her hands urging to grab onto the blue thing hovering in front of her and strangle it. "T-this is a mistake, right?! There's just no way! I can't be a...!"
No matter how many times Ji-ah tried to rub her eyes or pinch herself, it didn't change what was in front of her.
"I'm a... FUCKING HEALER?!" Ji-ah couldn't stop herself from yelling, her face contorting into an angry snarl at what she read. Oh, how she wished she could punch an infallible object, but such a thing wasn't possible in physics. Her anger, though formidable, was bound by the laws of nature. She reluctantly turned her focus to analyzing her class abilities, hoping that something in her skills was good enough to distract her from her anger, even if just for a moment.

Upon seeing her class abilities, she became only slightly less angry. Although it wasn't ideal, she could make it work.
"After all... aren't medicine and poison two sides of the same coin?" Ji-ah whispered to herself, her mood lightening before deciding to try out one of her class abilities.
"Doctor's Eye." Ji-ah felt warmth spread to her head, pooling just behind her eyes. It felt as if she dunked her head in warm water but without the wetness. At the same time, she felt herself becoming slightly tired, as if she had just taken a light jog.
She took a few seconds to get used to the sudden warmth in her eyes before she looked around. Despite noticing a slight hint of blue in the surroundings, her vision remained unaffected.
Before Ji-ah could test her skill on herself, a man walked in, presumably the doctor who was assigned to her. She watched as a blue box– similar to the ones that popped up earlier– appeared next to him as the man began talking.
Patient Name: Lewis Anderson
Age: 47
Current Condition: Healthy
No current ailments
Pretty simple, but that's probably because it's still low level. As Ji-ah tuned out the man talking, she found herself lost in thought, only snapping back to attention when she heard him mention her awakening.
"...have noticed that you are an Awakened. Because of this, we have decided that the young miss should be released. I am sure that, as a Hunter, you should be busy, correct?”
Ji-ah didn’t bother to correct him as she reveled in her newfound power. She nodded, trying her best to keep a smirk off her face.
Anderson's face lit up with a bright smile. "Wonderful! Well then, all that’s left is just paperwork, but I wouldn’t dare to have a hunter such as yourself do such tedious work. When you’re ready, Miss, you can leave.”
After a few menial questions, the doctor and the nurses left, presumably to finish the paperwork for Ji-ah’s leave. But Ji-ah herself couldn’t be bothered as she brought her hand to her face, covering her mouth as she suppressed a smile.
He called me a Hunter… Ji-ah could feel herself becoming giddy at the simple notion of becoming a hunter. This healer nonsense is just a setback, I can use it to my advantage.
Ji-ah quickly changed into her old clothes and collected her things before leaving the hospital. After that, she was walking down the sidewalk, turning her attention back to her status.
I need to visit the Hunter's Association in order to get registered... It usually takes about 3 days to get a license. I should focus on understanding and trying out my new class skills during this time.
Ji-ah slowly formulated a plan for the next few days, her eyes glazing over as she became engrossed in her own thoughts.
Because of this, she couldn’t notice her surroundings until it was too late, and she smacked head-first into a person.
Ji-ah held her nose in slight pain, but it only lasted a second before the minimal pain went away. Ji-ah forgot, as an Awakened, her constitution was much higher than the average person. She got lost in thought for a moment as she thought about what she could do to increase, but a shrill voice snapped her out of her stupor.
“Hyun Ji-ah? Oh. My. God! You’re still alive? We all thought you died!” Meghan spoke sarcastically, exaggerating her words. She would’ve sounded more sincere, if she wasn’t sneering and looking at Ji-ah down her nose. “Do you know how worried I was when I saw you on the news?” Liar. Ji-ah could see Meghan hiding behind her hand, trying to hold in a laugh.
Hyun couldn’t help but clench her teeth, but it only lasted a moment before she realized. She wasn’t weak anymore, she didn’t have to pretend.
Ji-ah lifted her head, staring at Meghan for a couple of seconds, making the other girl become uncomfortable under her intense stare. Then… Ji-ah smirked. This is going to be fun…
