The day is just begining and Ozul has been up for hours practicing his abilities for the test of shadows to start work as a master assassin. Every test is different for every person aking the test, it is never easy, and sometimes it can drag on for years and years. The test is to see how well the journey man assassin can adapt to his surroundings. For Ozul he has been training for 15 years since he was allowed to take his first steps as an adult of the Diefentarie at the age of 15. Most the hose wishing to become an assassin do not make it past 7 years due to a failed mission such as death or the target killed the person who hired the Diefentarie. Ozul is different for he has both his parents as Master assassins who have trained him and have personally gone on missions without him knowing to see that he does not die.
He never once came close to needing their help, but he has come close to failing due to the employer almost dying. It is common for Diefentarie to get hired by oposite contenders, but they are sworn to never raise a blade against their own. The oath they take is Soul bound and can not be undone, and if they try they will die and for ever be damned to the void.
As Ozul is getting prepped for the test a loud knock comes to his door which does not surprise him as he could hear them walking down the hall. "Come in Mother" Ozul calls out as he stands up from his crouched position. The door opens to reveal a completely clad in dark clothing woman of the Diefentarie race of what looks to be early 30's age, but is actually closer to 300 years old. "Are you ready dear?" Asunna replies in a honey like voice that most would not put with the visage she repersents. "Yes Mother, have you heard what they will be testing me on?" "Son you know I can't tell you of the test." "Ugh fine, but will Father be there?" "Yes dear, he got back not 5 minutes before I cam to get you. Now stop asking questions you know the answers to and let's go the trial will begin soon." Ozul drops his head at the chasizement "Yes Mother."
They make their way down the stairs to the basement once Ozul has equipped his gear as if he was going on a regular mission. Asunna opens the door to the telaportation ring the Order uses for long distance telaportation. "Finally out of bed I see." Draken calls out to his son as they come through the door, and walks over to his wife and kisses her forehead. "I have been waiting to be summoned Father nothing else." Ozul says in a Jovial mood after not seeing his father in over 3 years. "Yes yes, now if you would stand in the circle and stay quite as we let you know what your mission is." Alderaan the High Master in charge of the Order says with a blank face. Ozul respectfully Bows and heads to the platform on which the circle is placed and awaits his mission breifing. "Okay, since you are the son of 2 masters of the Order you will be given a harder task. Your task will be set on another World where our race doesn't exist and you will have to find a capable Mage to send you back to us all while taking jobs and missions as an assassin. This mission will take years, but we know you will complete it with time." Says Alderaan to Ozul. "If you cannot complete your mission in 30 years, because of some reason we will send 5 Masters after you to bring you home, and from there we will decide based on your report if you pass or fail." Claims another Master in the room. "Are you ready Journey Man Ozul?" "Yes Master." Ozul bows and then sits down in the circle awaiting to activation. The Masters start to chant the Phrase to activate the circle and send Ozul on his Longest and most Dangerous mission yet.
A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
The next thing Ozul see is a Flash and then utter darkness for those that can not see in the dark like the Diefentarie can. As he looks around he sees he is in an alley way in a large city of some type but can not see any one about. Ozul slowy stands up and looks at the walls around him and notice how there is no runes to stop him from climbing so he takes a step and launches himself 15 feet into the air and grabs hold of the easy to hold onto wall of stones, and climbs to the roof. What he sees when he gets to the top is a massive city with the only lights on being the fires on the wall and a few lamps being held as guard patrol the city below him.
If you find mistakes let me know, this is my first story and would like honest criticism and helpfull. Once I get more readers I will find a way to add chapters more regulary. Thank you for your time.
