Chapter 1 - The introduction

My name is Daniela García, I am 20 years old, I have a brother named Diego, a sister-in-law named Anna, I used to have many friends, even a boyfriend that I still am in love with. My boyfriend didn't break up with me, I broke up with him. He didn't do anything wrong because I did. 

Have you ever been so afraid that you ignore the people who deeply care for you? Have you ever hidden your face, so you can't hurt your friends or family? Have you ever made a mistake that caused pain?

This could happen to anyone, sometimes it can be hard to move on from it. Things like that are hard to forget, Trust me, I know. I'm an average girl, I went to school, got grades, I started college, however, even though all of this is average for a girl in America, there are some things that aren't normal.

Let me tell you a story, it's a story of what happened in August of 2011. This is my story of what I call The Incident, it's the story about what changed my life. It all started a year ago in August of 2011. I woke up just like I do every morning during summer...

"Good morning Diego," I said to my brother. I woke up really early today because I am going to go back to college shopping, I really want to get my shopping done before everyone else.

"Good Morning to you to Daniela," Diego responded in his low pitched voice, my brother is on his laptop, most likely working as he works at an office as a reporter. By the looks of it, he's eating toast and drinking coffee like he does every morning.

"What's for breakfast Bro,"I asked Diego eagerly. I was hungry and I didn't want to wait for breakfast. also, I am just too lazy

"Your 19 Daniela, why should I still make you breakfast" He definitely sounded annoyed, well he has a good point, so I just laughed and went over to the fridge and took out the milk. I honestly was not in the mood for toast so I decided the have cereal instead. 

"Hey, where's Anna"I stated, noticing the absence of my sister in law. Anna is my brother's wife and best friend, they have been married for 3 years and have three adopted kids, who are still in bed apparently. Anna and Diego are 25 years old and already have three kids when I'm not even married yet.

"Anna went to the doctor." Diego seems so calm about that statement, why would you be calm when your wife has gone to a doctor for who knows what bloody reason. I'm sure its nothing severe but Anna hasn't been sick in years. I sit down at the table, I start eating my cereal, suddenly, a little girl comes running into the room. She has reddish-orange hair and is wearing a purple dress with blue flats. Her name is Lucy, she is the eldest of Diego and Anna's children.

"Hey, Dad," Lucy says in a very cheery tone, of course, she doesn't say hello to me but whatever. She looks at me and smiles, I smile back, wave at her then keep eating my cereal. Lucy is 10 years old and as I said was adopted a few years ago, She and her little brother and sister were homeless, Diego found them in an alleyway, he let them spend the night but got so attached he convinced  Anna to adopt them, they have been a great family ever since. We live in a pretty big house as there is a lot of people living in it. There is my brother, Anna, Me, Lucy, Rachel the youngest, Bryan the middle child and my younger twin siblings, Izzy and Marco. Izzy and Marco are actually seven years old and have two best friends Ellie and Indigo who coincidently is my best friend and my boyfriends younger sister.

"Hello, sweetheart did you sleep well?" Diego smiled, brightly at his daughter but he has every right to smile, I'm not stopping him. "Good, actually great" she seemed so excited, I don't know why though.

"Why are you so excited Lucy" I questioned as I had never seen her so excited. Lucy is always happy, she has the biggest smile I have ever seen. She looks at me with a look that reads "Are you serious?" I slap my hand to my forehead, I'm such an idiot, I get an A in every subject for crying out loud. She has been talking about how excited she is to start back at school tomorrow for weeks.

"Right sorry." I laugh at my stupidity, well you got to be stupid at some point in your life. " That's okay aunty Daniela." She replies and I smile, she so forgiving but that's a good thing.

"Is Rose going college shopping with you?" He questions me, but I just nod my head. My best friend is named Rose, she is two years younger than me, she also has a big family, she lives with her parents, Mark and Donna, Her twin sister Thorn, Her year older brother Harry, Her little sister Indigo and her older brothers who by the way are triplets, one of those triplets Charles is my boyfriend. However, Rose was adopted when she was two but was separated from her twin and her brother but were reunited a year ago.

Rosie starts her first year of college tomorrow, I plan to help her with what she will need, how much she should bring and what she needs to prepare for because she is not a fan of school. Charles and the other triplets Matthew and Daniel will be there and most likely Thorn and Harry.

The front door opens, Anna walks in with a big smile on her, Anna has shoulder length light blonde hair, a pink short-sleeved t-shirt, black jeans and black pumps. Anna and I are very close as sisters and friends. Something must have happened as she is smiling, more brightly than lucy's was.

"Diego, Daniela guess what?" she exclaims in a very perky voice, I have never seen her so excited, well except the time Diego asked her to marry him. "What is it?" I ask with curiosity. "ill tell you but first get everyone in here and also get Camila and Matteo on the phone." she orders. Wow, Anna way to boss us around but I start heading upstairs to get everyone up. Camila and Matteo are my parent's, they live in Seattle while we live in Los Angeles.

10 minutes later... 

"Thank for gathering everyone, Daniela." Anna smiles and wraps her arms around me in a hug, I hug her back and smile "of course" I respond. So right now in the room is the entire García family. I really want to know why she's so excited, the suspense is killing me and probably everyone else too.

"Are you finally going to tell us what's so exciting?" I respond,  Diego starts chuckling to himself, What the hell is so funny? "Maybe Anna going to tell you she found you a house so you can move out." Why that little? Everyone starts laughing at his statement. Wow, thanks, Bro.

"Imbécil," I mutter quietly, but he still heard. I just said "Jerk" in Spanish, My siblings and I are three-quarter Mexican and a quarter Italian. "What was that, Sis.". My eyes widen, How the hell did he hear that? "nothing... I said absolutely nothing."

"Focus, So I went to the doctors today and got some exciting news." She explains, Well, thank you for stating captain obvious. I shake my head, but continue to listen, having a feeling I know where this is going. 

"Diego, Sweetheart" Diego looks at her with wide eyes and a hopeful look on his face, She doesn't say anything except nod her head. My eyes widen and Diego looks like he is about to cry. Everyone looks at him, then at Anna.

"I'm pregnant." She exclaims.

Diego then proceeds to faint, I knew it, This is why I succeed in every subject, even though that has nothing to do with this, Oh well!!!
