Chapter 21 Suprise

Chapter 21 Suprise

The grand ballroom of House Alde sparkled with life, a lavish setting adorned with shimmering chandeliers and elegant decorations. Guests mingled, their laughter ringing through the air as they celebrated the fifth birthday of young Alex. Dressed in exquisite gowns and finely tailored uniforms, the nobles raised their glasses, toasting to the bright future of House Alde. However, beneath this facade of joy lurked a sinister threat.

As the guests gathered around the enormous birthday cake, the atmosphere hummed with excitement, each person blissfully unaware of the storm about to break. Scif, the captain of the Alde guard, stood vigilantly at the edge of the crowd, scanning for any sign of trouble. An unease prickled at the back of his mind, a feeling that something was amiss.

Then, without warning, the cake erupted in a shower of frosting and confetti. From its center sprang a battalion of assassin droids, their red eyes glowing ominously as they emerged, blasters raised and programmed for slaughter.

“Get down!” Scif shouted, instinctively moving to shield Alex with his own body. The first bolts of energy whizzed through the air, striking innocent guests who hadn’t yet grasped the horror unfolding before them. Panic erupted as screams filled the room, drowning out the music.

The droids unleashed their assault, cutting through the crowd with ruthless efficiency. Scif’s heart raced as he watched in horror. Guests fell, some hit by blaster bolts, others mercilessly sliced apart by vibroblades, blood painting the elegant marble floor.

“Mother! Father!” Alex cried, eyes wide with terror as he spotted his parents, Elara and Aldric, caught in the chaos.

“Stay behind me, Alex!” Scif shouted, his voice steady despite the chaos as he took aim and fired at the nearest droid. The bolt struck true, sending the droid staggering back, but it was only one of many.

“Protect the boy!” Scif commanded the nearby guards, who quickly formed a defensive line, firing into the fray. Blaster fire erupted, illuminating the ballroom as they fought to hold back the tide of metallic death.

Mara, the family maid, darted towards Alex, her face a mask of fear and determination. “We need to get you out of here!” she yelled, glancing back at him as blaster fire raged around them.

But before they could move, a droid targeted Aldric, its blaster firing without hesitation. “Father, watch out!” Alex screamed, but the warning came too late. A bolt struck Aldric, and he fell to the ground, lifeless.

“NO!” Alex’s voice shattered the air, his heart breaking as he watched his mother turn in horror. She too was struck, her body crumpling to the floor beside her husband. The joyful sounds of the celebration turned into a haunting silence, echoing in Alex’s mind as the reality of their deaths washed over him.

“Alex! We need to move!” Scif shouted, his urgency palpable as he grabbed the boy's arm, pulling him close. They pushed through the chaos, dodging blaster fire as the droids advanced. Scif fired again, striking down another droid, but the number of attackers was overwhelming.

Mara was suddenly hit, her scream piercing through the tumult as a droid fired at her. “No! Mara!” Alex cried, watching helplessly as the droids closed in on her, their relentless assault leaving no room for mercy.

“Stay focused, Alex!” Scif shouted, pushing them onward even as the death toll rose around them. “You have to use the Force! I know you can do it!”

Fueled by despair and rage, Alex summoned the Force, feeling a rush of energy course through him. With a fierce cry, he unleashed a wave of power that sent several droids crashing into the walls, their systems short-circuiting in a shower of sparks.

“Good job! Keep going!” Scif urged, but they were losing ground fast. More droids poured in, their numbers overwhelming.

With desperation clawing at him, Alex pressed on, pushing through the carnage, only to find himself facing a cluster of heavily armed droids. “Alex, we can’t stop! We need to reach the hangar!” Scif shouted, but the path ahead was littered with bodies and chaos.

The droids advanced again, a menacing wave of metal and death. Just as Scif turned to face them, a droid fired, and he was hit, collapsing to the floor, his lifeblood pooling around him.

“Scif!” Alex screamed, feeling the walls of his world close in. The realization that he was utterly alone struck him with a crushing force.

Panic surged within him, but a flicker of resolve ignited. He turned to the nearest droid, anger boiling inside him as he drew upon the Force. “You won’t take me!” he shouted, the words echoing through the chaos.

The droid raised its blaster, but Alex focused his energy, pushing outward with all his might. The droid staggered back, its circuits frying under the intensity of his power, before it crumpled to the ground in a heap of sparks.

But the battle raged on, and the remaining guards fell one by one, overwhelmed by the relentless onslaught. Alex’s heart raced as he realized the depth of his loss. He was surrounded by carnage, the echoes of laughter and music now replaced by the cries of the dying.

As the hangar doors blew open, a final wave of droids surged forward, their blasters ready. Alex fought fiercely, channeling his pain and anger into each desperate push of the Force. He could feel his strength waning, the darkness creeping in as he lost sight of the faces he loved.

The hangar erupted into chaos as the droids advanced, cutting down the last remaining guards. Alex fought with everything he had, but the tide was insurmountable. Just as he thought he might escape, an explosion rocked the room, debris raining down around him.

“Alex, run!” a distant voice cried, but the world was spinning, and the chaos blurred into a haze.

With one last push, Alex summoned all his strength, forcing the last droid to its knees before him. He concentrated, feeling the power surging within him, and with a final roar, he crushed the droid, its metallic body crumpling to the floor.

But victory was fleeting. The realization of his isolation washed over him like a tidal wave, the bloodshed around him a grim reminder of his tragic loss.

He looked around, the ballroom transformed into a macabre scene of slaughter. Bodies lay strewn across the floor, and the echoes of pain and fear resonated in the air. Alex sank to his knees, the weight of grief crushing him as darkness enveloped his vision.

The last thing he heard was the haunting silence following the chaos, a final reminder that he was alone, the only survivor of a brutal massacre that had taken everything from him.

As the darkness closed in, Alex knew that this was not the end. It was only the beginning of a new and darker chapter in his life.
