Chapter 1 | Part 6

I didn’t want to take my chances so I started casting a memory wipe charm with my hand. I’m not sure if it will work, but at this point it is definitely worth a shot. With a small motion I turned around and waved my hand in their direction.

A very visible bolt of energy shot out of my hand and detonated into a large area of aura that clouded the group. They jumped back in surprise and the first guy yelled out immediately.

“What the hell is this?!” They looked like they were about to attack me as they prepared themselves and were about to draw their weapons, but before they could they had started to cough and they fell to their knees and hands.

“You! What- what is this?!” He stuttered out as he fell to the ground on his hands until he had gave out and collapsed. They all did the same. Hopefully nobody heard all the noise they were making. I had to hide the unconscious bodies now before anyone could realize what just happened.

After about ten minutes or so of dragging their bodies into my room, I laid them out on my bed and in the living room on the couches and comfy seat. I didn’t really want to hurt them. Or more accurately, I didn’t allow myself to.

I took off their gear because they couldn’t really fit in this room or on the furniture while they wore them. I took of their helms and shoulder gear, the chest plates, and greaves. I also took my time taking the gear and weapons outside to have them destroyed, every little bit of damage counts at this point.

I piled them out on the roof of the inn and held a hand over the pile, then closed my eyes and chanted out a few words.

“Dexcibution Desancti Guilero.” Which the gear started to simultaneously combust and melt away into nothing, I also didn’t want to waste all the holy energy, even if I couldn’t directly use it, I could still convert it into something I could use.

With the second word of my incantation, Desancti, I had corrupted the entire aura from the equipment into Onirigin, which I then absorbed. Now that the gear was no more, and the threat was neutralized, I went back inside and gathered my stuff, which wasn’t much, but it was still important.

The only thing I had to bring with me this entire trip is my weapon, food probably, my pan flute, and some spellstones. I travel really light, light enough that I won’t have to carry a bag around. And even if I did have more stuff I didn’t need to keep it as luggage that I would drag around everywhere.

I had magic for that. Well moving on, I went into the closet of my room and rummage through that stuff that wasn’t mine, and I found a gleaming ebony-coloured material, this was it. I grabbed it and pulled it out of the storage. The object was big and heavy, as it came into the light, it shone very polished and sharp like, my weapon, the Scythe of Death.

It was found with me when I first came into this plane of existence, and I had only until recently have it given to me. I have yet to know how to use it or know how its power works, but I sort of found out how it works at some point, after all I was the only one who is able to wield it because if any other person would try to, they would have their souls taken into the scythe.

I learned that the hard way.

Next was my pan flute. No, there isn’t anything special about it. It really is just an ordinary pan flute. It was made from “150% pure wood!” as the guy selling it described it when I was looking for stuff through the Black Bazaar a year ago.

I figured that I might as well try to find something else I’m good at, and that decision ultimately left with to deal with learning how to play an instrument of some kind.

After picking up about every single instrument in the entire vicinity of the area, as well as trying to play them all lead me to realize that I could play just about every single one of them. But it didn’t feel right, you know?

I could completely harmonize with everything, but I just couldn’t choose anything. The Bass was one of my favourites, and one of the easiest for me to play, and the violin I had picked up and learned about five symphonies with ease, but they lacked something, I’m not sure what, but I knew what instrument had it when I started playing it. That instrument was the pan flute.

It hard times or when there’s a problem, it helps me think and relax through playing it. Well enough about that, I have to focus on grabbing everything I need before I leave.

What else did I need again? Oh right! A couple spellstones would probably help. Basically small enchanted shards of energy that is held together by a person’s will and the magic of runes laced around the entire thing. You can cast a spell into the stone and seal it for later use, so that when you will have to activate it you don’t use up any aura or energy, basically a free spell in a stone.

Pretty self explanatory, all of these things were pretty much essential for anything, I wouldn’t be caught without them. Leaving them here in the room is an exception though. I can’t scout out the area and be seen carrying those things around.

The spellstones alone were already enough to land me enough strikes to get the death penalty, or worse. But I would rather not try to think about those kinds of things, for now getting out of here should be my first priority.

As I grabbed my stuff and stuffed the stones and rations into my belt pouch, I turned away from my closet after I sensed something moving around behind me. Right as I caught sight of the moving figure, I got jabbed in the face.

I staggered backwards, more from surprise than pain. I tried to process what had just happened, and it all came down the realization that one of the guards that I brought into my room awhile ago managed to wake up.

I held my nose as I tried to react to this situation, but before I could I was already knocked down and was being pinned onto the ground. And there was a large figure that was right on top of me. I couldn’t make their face completely but I could vaguely make out a stubbly beard and some deep hazel red eyes. That fixed expression had me completely frozen.

I could feel him breathing on me as he held me down with his elbow, pinning my neck to the ground and held me there, he was kinda strong. I could feel his weight bearing down on me a little.

“You better give me a good reason on why I shouldn’t kill you right now.” He said in a deep and husky voice.

Maybe I think I can talk my way out of this, at least I hope I can.
