Chapter 2:

“So now you expect me to help you to get rid of your competition after you enslaved me using a slave contract.”

“Yes. I mean precisely that.”

“You know, I should have realized that there is no way you could be so helpful.”

“I did not say that your help will go unrewarded though. Aside from teaching you the basics of mana, I could also provide you with some basic equipment. As far as I am aware of, you only have that sword of yours as your basic equipment, right?”

“…Yes.”

“So now, if you help me, I could spare you some equipment. I am sure you do not want to go out with nothing more than those fabric of yours right?”

“…Yes again.”

“Then there is no problem, isn’t it? I give you the equipment you need, you them up, and we both leave happy.”

“How then do you expect me to blow them up? As far as I am aware of, I am a simple humas, isn’t it?”

“Sigh…you really don’t know anything, do you? Every living creature on this world has their own unique sigil, a personification of their soul. For some, it is something as simple as ‘POTENTIA’, an increase in the physical strength of the person. For others, it can be ‘MAGIA’, an ability to use magic. For you, it is ‘PEREDENT’, the ability to destroy. If used appropriately, finishing off the target should be easy.”

“‘PEREDENT’…How am I supposed to use it?”

“Focus on your image of destruction. There should be something that emphasizes destruction in your heart, and that should be your sigil.”

‘Destruction, destruction…The only thing I can think of is an explosion. The glorious scenery when Tokyo Station was bombed...”

‘<>’

A sigil was craved into where Shiro’s hand is touching moments before. Pulsating with a silent glow, it trembled with an unstable power.

“Wait! Don’t activate the sigi-”

“<>!”

“BOOM-!”

An miniature explosion lit up where they are sitting. The table in which the sigil is carved on vanished in a little puff of smoke, leaving a smothering crater between the both of them.

The two of them looked at each other. For one, Shiro’s cloths are completely blow away by the explosion. Meanwhile, the Information Broker fared no better either. The brown rag covering most of her features are all blown to bits, leaving behind the charming figure of a young lady dressed in a simple red dress. Her hair fluttered gently behind her, white as the snow. A pair of ruby eyes with delicate features adorned her face, a stark contrast to the hair. It is this contradiction that gave her this otherworldly beauty, on that mesmerized all who look.

“Eh? Wait, you are a-”

“Shut up and wear something, you damn pervert!”

The Information Broker’s voice took a massive turn. The once guff voice now eked of felinity, completely different from before. Throwing a pair of tunic from god knows where, she averted her face from Shiro’s naked form.

Still stunned by the sudden turn of events, Shiro’s mind lagged behind for a few moments. Fumbling around with the tunic for a few moments before actually donning the tunic, his eyes wandered to the sight before him.

“Ahem…YOU BETTER DON’T TELL ANYBODY OF MY ACTUAL IDENTIY! IF NOT…ENFORCE GEASS CONTRACT! INCLUDE ADDITIONAL CLAUSE!”

A scroll appeared out of midair as the Information Broker scribbled and scrawled on it. Waves of mana poured out of the scroll with each stroke, tying and binding the both of them.

“Finished. Now, if you ever mentioned this….Heheheheh…”

A scary expression came out of her face as she stared creepily at Shiro. If this was a manga, there would be black scribbles surrounding her background at this exact moment.

“Now back to the original conversation. First, as you have witnessed, your sigil seems to be the ability to turn any object you touch into a bomb, dependent on the mana you insert in. Use that and get rid of the competition. The methods are of you to choose.”

“Wait, you are a girl?”

Irritation shot through the Information Broker. Veins crawled over her temple as she softly whispered: “I thought we are over that?”

“Hahaha…I am sorry. However, it is not every day you get to meet a beautiful lady. Why do you even bother to hide it?”

“Pop.” The sound of a vein bursting could be heard. A fist, faster than sound, landed onto Shiro’s stomach.

“Ouf-“

Dragging him by the edges of his collar, the Information Broker unceremoniously threw Shiro out of the room. “Never come back until you are finished!” Another sound was heard. The sound of crashing was mixed with a shout: “Here is all the equipment you will ever need!”

A pair of gauntlets, a chainmail, a belt filled with suspicious looking vials, a pair of elaborately decorated boots and a simple sword all landed on him in rapid succession. Shiro, picking up and donning the equipment, turned and look back at the room.

“That girl…is she actually a tsundere?”

Looking at the city of Saigan once more, Shiro was once again amazed at how much he actually hates city life.

It was a hatred born out of his twisted view of the world, for he hated how everyone is like a cog in a machine, without emotions. He hated the difference between wealth, and sought to destroy it all.

It was also due to him hating how he was treated when he was younger, being born of the slums. He hated those hypocrites, who bully the weak even when they are pathetic themselves.

Given a chance, he wanted to tear down all order, and let anarchy reign.

His eyes slowly darken as he paced through the paved roads of Saigan. Keeping to the side of the road, he silently witnessed and passed judgment on all he saw.

At one point, an aristocrat, striding upon a massive carriage fit for carrying his bunk, strode through the streets and pushed the crowd to its sides. Those who did not get out in time are mowed over like wheat, their lives worthless as flies.

Looking at that scene, another memory Shiro sought to contain risen out of his brain.

6 months ago, before he escaped the living hell he was in, he once had a best friend whom he once liked, who had the unfortunate luck to be born in the slums.

At that time, there was an urban reconstruction project to relocate the slums to another place. The ones they hired to do so are not officials, but the yakuza. Shiro witnessed the moment when the yakuza dragged her off together with the others and he was powerless to stop it.

It was then that he first planted a bomb and became a terrorist.

That night, a glowing fireball illuminated the yakuza’s headquarters. Amidst the flames, he looked for her. However, she was nowhere to be found. Him, who wanted to find her so much, could not see any sight of her. Even her corpse was not discovered.

It was then that he moved out of the slums as he had no more reason to be there. It was then he begun to hate the world, and wished to destroy it.

“Those who used power to bully the weak…I hate them. I hate them so much. <>!”

He gradually moved closer to the carriage, his hand brushing the side of it. At that instant, more than 8/10 of his mana disappeared into thin air. Moving further and further from the carriage, he whispered: “<>!”

The carriage blossomed into a fireball in the backdrop of his gloomy countenance.

‘So this is the building I am supposed to destroy?’

Rolling his eyes at the shack in front of him, he wondered if the Information Broker was trolling him. It looked just like any other shack that could be found, except more depilated, more flimsy and generally more rundown.

He was informed of this location by the Information Broker through one of her associates when wandering down the streets just when he was wandering how to find where the target is.

‘I was wandering if she was just going to let me blow the city up…it is shit anyways.’

He was still bitter about the incident that awoken the memory he was trying to suppress. Turning his gaze towards the shack, he found the outlet for his emotion he was trying to find.

‘Today is your unlucky day to have met me, fellows.’

Well, that was supposed to be a cool statement, but what followed was mundane at best. Shiro was just a normal person after all. He could not be breaking in just like that. He would die.

‘First, let’s commence the planning. This shack has two entrances, one on each side. Supported by beams made of wood, it overall structural strength is pathetic. So, if I were to just collapse it…’

Scribbling on the ground, Shiro drew up a simple plan to attack the shack. Place sigils at the beams on the left and bottom, followed by one at each entrance, before collapsing it away from him. Landmines would be place at the only escape pathway leading away from the shack after the collapse, forcing them to walk that treacherous path.

“In the event that there is an underground pass, I would need to be able to collapse that too…”

Shiro tapped the ground using the sword of his, causing a tiny explosion each time. The explosion was directed underground, causing miniature vibrations to occur. Shiro carefully felt for the presence of a tunnel, and voila, he found it.

“There is a single tunnel leading to a space just 40 meters away, close to another building. It comes closest to the surface…right about here, 10 meters down. To collapse it…”

Shiro kneeled down and placed his hand on the ground. His hand began to pulsate with light as he injected power into his sigil.

“The sigil allows me to inject mana into an object which would then explode. There is no reason why I could not control where the mana is injected into. Therefore, right about now…<>!”

A glowing sigil barely visible on the surface is etched into the ground, barely noticeable by the naked eye.

“Next, <>!”

His sigils are set up around the shack, with a five minute interval between each as his mana regenerate after each use setting a sigil.

“Damn…it sure sucks when my HP is turned in MP…”

Finally sneaking around placing sigils for the longest time, Shiro managed to set up the sigils perfectly. Sighing in relief as he sat down in the shack at the opposite side, Shiro muttered to himself: “Here comes my favorite part. It is time for the fireworks to blossom. 3…2…1…<>!”

Like looking at a pile of dominoes falling, there is a sense of inevitability as Shiro looked on as the scenario proceeded as he had envisioned.

First, building collapsing, leaving the exits blocked on all sides except for one.

Then, the despair they faced when they imploded one by one as they stepped on the mines. “<>, <>, <>!” Shiro chanted all the time as each and every one of them tried to escape.

Following that, he laughed as those in the room cried in fear when they are trapped in the tunnel after leaving the space they are in. “Help…help…” Their cries, like melody, rang through the air.

“What is this? Never mind, it is time for the Information Broker to do her part in this play.” Shiro turned and looked at the building above the tunnel’s end. “I have killed most of the rats. It is time for her to finish off the Rat King.”

“What an irresponsible individual.” The Information Broker appeared behind Shiro at that moment, back in her usual garments. “If I had not been looking on, you would have allowed the rat to escape.”

“You would have cleaned up the mess if I fail anyways, isn’t it, Information Broker?”

“Next time, clean up your own mess. The terms of the contract have been fulfilled partially; as such the contract is render dormant.”

“Wait…what?! I thought the contract was over?”

“The clause about not revealing my identity still applies. You think I will allow you to go sprouting your mouth and telling everyone who I am?!” Shiro could swear he saw the Information Broker pouting when she said that. “Anyways, let us return to the shop! I trust you have fun on this mission?”

“I just came to this world and I am already on a slave contract. Why won’t I enjoy it?”

“That is true, if it is a beautiful woman like me.”

“Pu-! What did you-”

“Let’s return!”

“Now, I would like you to become my mercenary. I would provide you with information and you would help me get rid of all troubles I may have.”

“Why would I do so, huh?”

“Because I helped you escape punished for blowing up an aristocrats carriage. I did not want to mention it outside, but what are you thinking?! If not for the fact that your sigil is not known, you would have been in jail by now!”

“You mean that bastard? He deserved it. Have you seen how he is treating those civilians?!”

“Yes, and in fact, he is still alive and very angry. For your information, his sigil is ‘<>’, which allows him to erect a barrier to deter injuries, a specialty of the Daizen family. You have just pissed off the 4thMaster of the Daizen House, Gerald Daizen.”

“So?”

“So? Your bounty is now 50000 gold pieces! I have half a mind to sell you out if not for your usefulness. Now, either help me, or I will sell you out.”

“Aren’t you afraid I will tell them about you?!”

“The Geass Contract.”

“Damn it! Do I have a choice?”

“No.”

“Fine! I agree!”

“Good.  For your next mission, assassinate Gerald Daizen.”

‘She is crazy, isn’t she? How could she ask me to assassinate an aristocrat suddenly? Well, it is not like I wasn’t planning on doing a bit of mischief…’ Collapsed in a tea shop in Saigan, Shiro moaned about his new mission. ‘Besides, how did I get tricked into this? One moment I was asking for information, the next moment I was helping her as a mercenary. It makes no sense…’

‘However, honestly though, the tea they serve here is delicious. With the few gold pieces she gave me, let’s enjoy myself for a moment.’ Shiro sipped from the green tea cup by his side. ‘Aside from that, there is still the pop-ups just now…”

A simple mission chapter.

Written with Microsoft word, so hopefully errors are bye bye.

I should really do a explanation of the world, don’t I?

The next chapter would be a bit dark.

All feedback is welcome in how it is progressing.

From now on, it should be 3 days one chapter.
