The year was 1202 in the Conglomerate Century. The humans of the Milky Way galaxy tapped into the universal force of Arcayna once known only to them in the form of magic from old stories. Joined by two formerly-alien races, Ashitari and Faeheru, the renamed Homnis race expands to the stars. However, they need a disposable workforce.
Supremacy Wars mark the early days of the C.C., until a brilliant breakthrough in cybernetics and artificial intelligence birthed the creation of a sub-race: the Iberions. These synthetic beings came to be centuries ago. Their programming and organic origins grant them the illusion of autonomy and sapience, though they lack a soul to cement them as “true” living beings. The Homnis exploited the Iberions whilst the Faeheru contested their existence as an affront to the gods. To this day, most of the Ashitari people remain unaligned in this debate.

About 100 years ago, an unknown plague dubbed the A.Ware virus infected the early Iberions. This glitch cursed them with awareness of their false existence. A number of them have since gone rogue to pursue a fruitless hunt for a soul to call their own.
Criminals of the underworld took note of this. With the expanded ethereal knowledge of Arcayna, shadowy organizations figured out a way to extract the soul of a deceased person before it vanishes to whatever afterlife out there. These trapped souls are then liquefied and sold on the black market under the name Cyberium.
However, a soul which is not their own only lasts so long before it dissipates into the great beyond. The Iberions latch on the euphoria of a true existence for the while it lasts, but soon, it no longer satisfies. They must feast on more Cyberium.
The Conglomerate built an organization comprised of volunteers and personnel from all walks of life. Their goal: to hunt down and annihalate any traces of this vile drug. If rogue Iberions stand in their way, so to shall they be eliminated.
The year is 1319. Cyberium Chasers litter the stars.
