Thank you for reading Curse of the Forsaken. Stay tuned for the next book in this series called "Breaker of Chains" which should be published in January or February right here on Royal Road Legends. I think this book suffered a bit due to me posting it before finishing it. So I'll try to finish breaker of chains before publishing it. We'll see how that works.
I'll likely post another chapter on curse of the forsaken linking to the next book in the series when it's up on this site so keep this bookmarked. If you enjoyed this story please don't hesitate to rate it, lots of 5 star ratings will help it get seen by others, so it's the easiest way to get this novel seen by others and enjoyed. If you didn't like it or have constructive criticisms feel free to rate it as well, though please let me know why you didn't like it, just drop me a PM with your concerns; I'm trying to become a better author, so your critiques can help me improve!
Over the next two months I’ll probably be going back over this book editing it and adding some content. I think it could be better, and so I’ll probably play around with it a bit between writing Breaker of Chains.
I expect Breaker of Chains to be the best book in this series, at least it has most of the best scenes (IMHO), I know a lot of character's stories were left half told, expect them to return in the next book. There is plenty of suck left in this world to explore.
Now for the elephant in the room. That tag "romance"; when I put that on this novel there was a romance planned to start in this book. However, when I reorganized this book in order to get the island into this book I ended up shifting a lot of stuff around. I know this might irritate some of you, but the romance ended up shoved into book 2. I'm keeping the romance tag on here, only because there IS romance in the series, we just haven't got to it. I apologize if this gets on your nerves. I hope you can forgive me.
The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
As for Jace's amoral decent that troubled some of you. Yes, this was intended. I understand if you would like for him to be "good", but I am aiming to keep the psychological tag on this series. I find a great deal of interest in questions of morality confronted with fluid "natural" situations. In my experience, most people are moral "on paper" yet when confronted with difficult situations their morality becomes more "fluid". That's mostly what's happening here. Jace is placed in a lot of unreasonably situations with poor choices in every direction. Right now, he definitely is acting out of "self-preservation" more than "morality". As his power grows expect his behavior to become more "stable" but right now, or at least at this point, he still is mostly just making it up as he goes along.
As for Curse of the Forsaken, coming in at 114,500 words and 260 pages in a MS Word document this is the first time I actually finished a book after years of starting and stopping one story after another. Now that I can point to this and say “I DID THAT” my next goal will be to finish this trilogy for you my readers, and for myself. I would like to finish telling a whole story. Very stoked that its done, and really thankful to everyone who’s read this whole thing. It might not be Game of Thrones or Wheel of Time, but I like to think writing a novel longer then the first Harry Potter book isn’t too bad a start. This book easily surpassed my initial expectations. After I’m finished reworking this book it probably will be longer still. Either way, I really hope you all enjoyed this.
