Chapter 4 - An Excuse

Chapter 4 - An Excuse

The black rider reappears although seeming like a haze, he watches the Terrazor gulps down the bill, his grin peaks through the broken left part of his mask. He pulls back and vanishes again.

In the deep darkness, he could hear, the loud heart beat. Smell, the digesting flesh and feel, the rising temperature. The bill squawks, its eyes glow a menacing red, blood spilling out of them as they roll down its long yellow beak. Its feathers glow a bright blue, the riders eyes glow behind the bill, red bright red streaks run down his masks to the eye piece.

The Terrazor sniffs about, poking its head in every direction, it stops suddenly and flies with such intensity at seemingly nothing, it snaps its jaws at the air again and again, twisting and turning, but only gulping huge chunks of clouds.

It spews an inferno, burning the cloud to ash. It sniffs around, again and again, then flies downwards.

It spews fire, creating a torrent very hard to escape. The black rider appears in the midst of it, his cloak burning. He grabs it, shredding it off his back and tosses it away.

The monster looms over him, he feels shrunken before it. To the black rider, the monster seemed to grin, which although impossible seems fitting to him with the way the monster had toyed with him, for a moment it's felt like everything he'd every faces, every doubt he'd ever had and every doubt given to him, had form into the monster, before him and all he'd ever wanted to be, stood behind it.

There's no escaping you, is there beast?, he grins, we'll end it here then! , he yells at it. It roars back, sending chills through the shrouder.

I'll lure it in, then lead it into Heldaroth, the trees should slow it down, I'll make my escape then.

He draws out his noir, which he'd been using to seal the shrouder wound, he leaves behind enough to suppress the bleeding. He shapes it into a spear then the Terrazor charges at him, he charges in too.

The black rider screams a battle cry, holding firmly to his spear, then the monster shrieks, he stops his attack. The Terrazor twists and turns, shaking his head back and forth, as though in pain, it shrieks louder and louder.

What's with it? He says confused

Blood gushes out of its eyes, it wraiths in pain. The Bill sprints out of its open mouth, smoking heavily. The blue eyed rider put out his arm and the noir star darts out of the Terrazor’s eye and flies towards him. He grabs it by the rim, his clothes are heavily burnt on one side, revealing blistered wounds, bleeding and pussing.

The blood dampens his clothes, his flesh peels off as his fingers hold onto the saddle. The smell of burnt hair filed the air a, wafting around him as the bills black burnt feathers kept them afloat.

The monster growls, behind him, itching for revenge, the rider drops his head down to his saddle. The star spinning furiously by his side.

The monster growls again . He raises his head, up to the clouds, watches as the moon slips out from behind them. The black rider watches on, a few leagues below them, not daring to move. He felt the rage of the monster heating up the atmosphere, all its rage directed at the blue rider. But why doesn't it move? is it scared? he wonders.

The blue eyed rider turns back to the raging beast, his burnt back felt more painful with the beast breathing hot air on it.

I'll race you to him, he says to the monster.

Then in a flash, he releases a burst downwards. The black rider sees a blue streak headed for him and draws out his lance, but the bill is too fast.

He feels the sharp rush of wind, the slash of the air against his face. It's fast, he says. He sees a blur of both black and blue pass by him. as the smell of burnt flesh hits his nose.

The shrouder shrieks. The screeching echoes through his helmet, he sees a flash of red by his side, droplets gushing everywhere in view. He realizes what has happened to his beast, as he see the left wing fall off. no he cut through the win.. The shrouder tips over, falling it's side. it begins tumbling in mid air.

The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

The blue eyed rider spins the star, tossing the blood off it, then goes after the falling rider. The Terrazor chases them down. The black rider tethered to the beast spins alongside it. He could see them get closer and closer. The shrouder wails in pain,

How many have I, have I sent down here today? How many riders, how many beasts? Too many? Far too many, I wanted to end this, my dream had always been to end this, but now that'll all just be some silly excuse, an excuse to kill.

He sees the blur of the blue eyed rider above him, and the abyss like jaws of the Terrazor behind him.

How did he escape that, I thought I had him there,he chuckles. What a kid. Thought I'd play with him a little longer. Maybe in the next life, maybe we meet as strangers in a pub, when we've gone far beyond this war. I'm quite sombre, why?, I really miss Gwen.

The shrouder twists its neck around, forcing it beyond its limits, it gets a hold of the cord and bites through it, cutting it in two. The black rider in disbelief holds on to the saddle but the chain can't stand the strain, they shatters, tossing him off the beast and into the fogs of Helderoth. The blue eyed rider darts off to the left hiding within the fog.

The falling shrouder wails as the Terrazor’s jaws crash down around it, it glows a sharp orange, bursting into a ball of fire as the Terrazor eats it. A large explosion is heard from within the monsters mouth,it crashes into the jungles, sending tremors around.

The black rider falls through the fog, a bit stunned by what had happened. He falls into a tree, thumbs down through the branches, leaves fly everywhere, he grabs onto something in a chaos, but whatever stability he longed for snaps taking him further down. He grab onto another branch this time breaking his fall. He holds on for dear life.

The blue eyed rider rushes through the fog as fast as he can get the bill to go, pushing it further beyond its limits. He hears the jarring roar of the Terrazor, sounding so loud it's seemed behind him. He pushes for more speed but the bill slows down

Don't you get it, we're gonna die, we won't make…

All of a sudden the air gets heavier, his head feels light, his vision fades into a blur as he slumps over on the bill out cold. The bill squawks as it regains full control, it's eyes burn a furious red as it primal instincts kick in.

----------------------------------------

A slow dripping sound echoes through his head, drop after drop, he feels the comfort of a warm soft bed around him, in contrast to the pain he had, it feels like he's sleeping on clouds. He slowly wakes up, hazy vision, soon the picture clears, he sees he's in a healing house, he recognizes this place.

The door creaks open and a young woman with long flowing blond hair walks in with a bowl full of what appears to be herbs, she's dressed in brown, with a white coat over it. She walks in and looks at him but he quickly closes his eyes, she turns to her desk working on something with the herbs.

She's grounding the herbs, pounding into dust. She wipes the sweat off her forehead and looks down at the book by her side, reading the instructions. He opens his eyes again. He wonders what had happened, how he'd made it here, back to her, what had become of the black rider and how he'd survive falling unconscious on an uncontrolled beast.

He watches her work, distracting himself from all his questions, what else could matter now, he'd made it home. The door flings open, slamming against the wall, a brown skin man walks through,

Hey, she yells I've told you to quit slamming my door, you dope

Is there any way to talk to your captain? I over see you, you know, I could have you thrown off the island.

While the wars going on, she scoffs , let's face it you need me, I've got you and the top brass in my palms, you'll do what I say, you need my medicine

Speaking of that, how's he doing?

Him?He should be awake by now, I wonder what keeps him.

How are he's wounds?

Well I've mostly healed them but it's they'll sting him for a little while, what I'm more worried about are the longer term effect of the agent he used

What do you mean?

He pushed the Killbill too far but his connection with it, meant he took half of that load as well, his body may not function well for a while. The agent afterall is a last resort. A Trump card you're not meant to live afterwards. But I'll still have to run a full examination once he wakes up

To think he'd done all this for, for those idiots, I told them not to rush into the fray. These noble brats are too reckless, now their dirty laundry stinking up my life, I'll be the one cleaning this mess.

You didn't approve of him going either

He ran away, the selfish brat, I've been trying to get him on a better beast for months now but the barracks don't want to hear about a lower class having anything powerful. He just got too impatient, that's all. I guess it's my fault as well, I made him that's stupid promise anyway.

He looks at the boy, all taped up in bandages around his torso, he breathes heavily, his face still a bit red from the burns, his white hair draped over his face.

How about the others, he asks her.

They're alright, just burns, little loss of blood. Nothing a little sprite can't handle. Hey! where's Yuki anyways. She looks around in search of it's, she hears a low pitch bird-like sound coming from her desks. She looks under it and sees large, orange glowing eyes from the shadows.

There you are, come on, come on girl. It sprints out at her, a long white reptile, with bright white wings on its sides, two pair, one on its upper and lower body.

It flies around her outstretched arm and coils around it. She raises her arm to her face and plays with the creature

Lucia I'll be going now, when he wakes don't let him leave this room. Drug him if you have too. I've got too much headache for one day.

He grabs the door and as he exits Lucia yells

Don't slam tha… The loud crash of the door interrupting her

…. Door, I swear one of these days Yuki, we'll poison his pain medication. The sprite squeaks. She hovers her arm over the bowl of grounded herbs, the sprite rolls down her arm to her palm, its head just over the bowl, it sniffs it's, and recoils back in disgust.

It's not for eaten Yuki, how could you think of eating now, when Gyo is in danger

I couldn't bring my heart to tell him but the agent ruined his insides, if this, Gyo hears this in fragments as he fades off. if this doesn't work, he may… The sprite looks at her a bit solemn, it breathes a pale green fire over the bowl it glows a sharp blue.

Thanks Yuki, we'll see if this works, if it doesn't then we'll make sure he never rides again.
