Basic Knowledge of Cultivation:
Xianxia:
Xianxia, directly translating to "Immortal Heroes," refers to fictional narratives rich in magic, demons, spirits, immortals, and abundant Chinese folklore. Typically, protagonists aim to ascend to Immortality, striving for eternal life and supreme strength. These stories draw strong influence from Daoism.
Dao:
Dao embodies the origin and essence of everything, conveying diverse meanings such as The Way, Road, Path, or Method. In Daoism, it represents the fundamental principle underpinning the universe, embracing Yin and Yang within itself. This principle signifies a code of conduct in harmony with natural order. Characters in these stories often seek insights into the Dao, unlocking supernatural abilities or mastery over elements of nature.
Yin and Yang:
Yin and Yang symbolize the universal duality, where opposing forces like Female/Male, Soft/Hard, Death/Life, Dark/Light, Moon/Sun are interconnected and complementary. They illustrate the concept of how contrary forces not only coexist but also mutually generate one another in the natural world.
Magical Beasts:
Magical Beasts, known as creatures capable of cultivation, vary in their abilities. Some naturally progress in strength over time, while others need to actively practice cultivation methods. These beings often surpass the intelligence of regular animals and, in some cases, can converse in human languages. At an advanced stage of cultivation, certain Magical Beasts can even assume a human-like form.
These creatures possess a Core within their bodies, known as a "Beast Core" or "Demon Core," containing their essence and cultivation foundation. Cultivators highly value these cores, which are either consumed to bolster their strength or utilized in crafting magical items.

Cultivators:
Cultivators are individuals dedicated to honing martial and mystical arts, with the goal of attaining power and extending their longevity. Common practices among cultivators include meditation and Qi cultivation.
Rogue Cultivators:
Rogue Cultivators, also known as "Loose Cultivators," are independent practitioners not aligned with any sect, clan, or martial organizations.
Devil Cultivators:
Devil Cultivators, also known as Demon Cultivators, are unscrupulous individuals who emulate Devils and pursue power through any means. They often tread the Devil Path or Devil Dao, opposing orthodox Immortal Cultivators.
Sect:
Sects are organizations devoted to cultivation or martial arts practice. Typically overseen by a Sect Leader or Patriarch, supported by Elders, they educate disciples in cultivation methods or martial arts specific to the Sect. The Sect provides for the daily needs of its members. Sects maintain a structured hierarchy where respect for elder generations is paramount.
Disciples are categorized into varying tiers such as Core Disciples, Inner Disciples, and Outer Disciples based on talent and contributions to the Sect. Higher-ranking disciples enjoy elevated status and receive more resources from the Sect.
Clan:
Clan refers to an extended family connected by blood and sharing a common surname. Typically, clans preserve ancestral treasures, including secret cultivation methods and martial arts techniques, passed down through generations. They guard these legacies closely, maintaining secrecy from outsiders.
Heart Demons:
Internal Demons, referred to as "Heart Demons," aren't literal demons but represent negative emotions and mental barriers hindering a practitioner's progress. These inner obstacles can even manifest as attacks on the practitioner, potentially leading to Qi Deviation if not effectively confronted.
Qi Deviation:
Qi Deviation, also called Qigong Deviation, signifies an unstable cultivation base causing internal harm and signs of mental disturbance. It arises from succumbing to Internal Demons, incorrect cultivation practices, or the reckless use of forbidden arts.
Spiritual Roots:
Spiritual Roots, symbolizing the fundamental essence of one's being, encompass both body and soul, dictating innate abilities and elemental connections. Progressing in cultivation often demands a certain inherent talent, making it challenging for some to initiate their journey. One's Spiritual Roots are examined to gauge their aptitude for cultivation. Exceptional individuals might possess unique Spiritual Roots, facilitating rapid advancement or conferring specific advantages. For instance, individuals with "fire spiritual roots" might excel in mastering fire-related abilities compared to others.
Dantian:
Dantian, also called as "Elixir Field," denotes the area in the body where an individual's Qi is focused. Dantian situated three finger widths below and two finger widths behind the navel.
Insight:
Insight, often achieved through meditation, intense battles, or exploring new experiences, relates to a cultivator's enlightenment. These revelations are crucial for mastering techniques and advancing through cultivation stages.
Bottleneck:
Bottleneck refers to the point in a cultivator's training where progress becomes notably challenging, akin to hitting a wall. At this juncture, cultivators may necessitate fresh insights, the assistance of medicinal pills, or intensified training to achieve a Breakthrough and successfully overcome the obstacle represented by the bottleneck.
Ranks / Layers / Levels:
Ranks, levels, or layers, often quantifying martial prowess or cultivation progress, typically follow a structure where there are nine stages within each level, starting at rank 1 and reaching peak strength at rank 9. Upon advancing to the next stage, practitioners commence at rank 1 of that new stage.
Additionally, terms like Early-stage, Middle-stage, Late-stage, and Peak are frequently employed to describe a cultivator's progress. For instance, someone might be termed a "late-stage Core Formation expert" or situated "at the peak of the Nascent Soul stage."
Furthermore, the expression "a half step to ___ realm" refers to individuals on the verge of advancing to the next stage of cultivation, extremely close but not yet having achieved it. For instance, someone "a half step to Foundation Establishment" remains technically at the Qi Condensation stage, but is on the brink of attaining Foundation Establishment, just a tiny distance away.
