Conceptual Reality

Conceptual Reality

The darkness brightens, luminescence seemingly from nowhere yet everywhere... this is odd for the creature who opened its eyes, for its memories, no matter how fragmented, have never seen an environment quite like this.

Well, how interesting, I wonder what can grow in this environment. Pondering, a set of rules related to life appeared in the creature's mind, or what consisted of its mind.

The concept of life, plants, and even material appeared in the creature's mind, yet ever so curiously it appeared in the environment around it. Yet, curiously, there was no shadow as if there was no concept of darkness.

The plants attracted the creature's attention: there was what looked like a tree, a sunflower, and a lotus. There was no colour, which sparked the largest interest of the creature. Spawning the concept of colour, the environment was colourful. Yet, there were too many colours that the creature has never seen before; as if it was not used to seeing this range of vision.

The creature wondered, what was vision? It remembered eyes, but it felt as if it wasn't in reality and thus didn't have eyes. It wasn't used to being outside of reality and wanted a body that interacted with reality. A body appeared in its mind as a shell appeared in the environment, a shell.

The shell held the creature's attention, and then its perspective changed. Androgynous, in its appearance, opening its mouth, an intent spread instead of sound. 'What is this place?'

If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

As if in return to this intent, 'your sandbox.' As if comprehending, the shell nodded and turned its attention back unto the plants now colourful yet reminiscent of something.

A tree so large yet small in its own way confined to its dimensions, as a concept of space and size appeared.

A sunflower so bright and vibrant as a sense of pride following the light appeared, causing a concept of light and darkness to be intertwined and opposite to appear. These concepts started to cause boiling changes in the environment next to the shell spreading to the entire 'sandbox.'

The last plant, the lotus, colours swirling red, white, and black each trying to be the focus. Was quietly rotating this changing environment bringing with it a concept of impermanence and revolution.

The last concept was thought of as a sense of growth, change, and beauty. As if the painting was completed, a sense of wonder spread out from the shell as the environment started to change.

Material and immaterial started to war against each other as everything was getting into its own sense of beauty and growth, the environment bloomed and started to grow.

To the creature, however, the realm stayed the same size; only space inside was growing. This allowed the entities to be the focus of the universe yet being intertwined and changing between each other.

As the changes grew, the macro was nearing completion. Yet, the plants started to lay their seeds across the realm, some degenerating and others becoming more. Everything was connected, yet nothing was the same as the other.

The creature navigated its shell to the most beautiful place of the realm, the one most full of everything that ever was. The shell sat down ignorant of everything, its eyes closed, content with what it saw.

The concept of sleep and rest was born.
