Prologue

I stood there watching a crazy man wave his arms around as if he was swinging a sword. He was screaming at me to run. I do not believe in the unseen war.

    “Look Out” the man shouts

I of course ignore him. Such insanity does not deserve the attention of sane men like me. I fall over losing my balance. It feels like there is a weight on my chest. I think I might be having a stroke. Then I feel my blood start burning. Definitely a stroke.

----------------------------------------

I am a warrior in the unseen war. It is called that because the majority of people are fools. They think themselves wise. They believe that perception is the crux of reality. Well, they are fools who do not understand the nature of the world.

“Look out”

I yell as the beast gets past me and races toward the foolish man watching me. He ignores me of course, but it was worth the effort. The beast lands on him knocking him to the ground. Then the beast starts devouring his body. Immediately he starts thrashing in pain. It probably feels like his blood is boiling. I rush forwards and with a great swing chop the creature in half. I then proffer the man a hand to help him up.

----------------------------------------

The burning sensation suddenly stops. I breathe a sigh of relief. The man is proffering his hand to me, Presumably to help me up. I ignore it and stand up on my own. I have to get to work.

----------------------------------------

The fool gets up ignoring my hand entirely before rushing away. I dismiss my blade and continue on my way, I’ve got to get to work. On my way, however, I grab a cup of coffee, A Blessed, amazing, wonderful, perfect cappuccino. I stood there antsy to get my blessed caffeine hit when I see the fool from earlier.

“Hey, you’re the guy who I just saved from a beast! You wanna learn about the war?” I shout out to him enthusiastically.

“No! The war isn’t real you schizophrenic!” He shouts back with just as much fervor

I look at him and question how people can be so foolish.

----------------------------------------

I get to work only to be yelled at by the man from earlier. I immediately shout a retort and head to the back.

“Oh my goodness what is up with them!” My coworker says when I get in there

“A little coincidence like a seizure or heart attack doesn’t prove their point. There are plenty more reasonable explanations then invisible enemies that you can only see if you believe in them!” He continued

“Your preaching to the quire here pal. There is no amount of evidence that could prove something like that!” I replied

Then we continued to get ready in silence. That was all there was to talk about nowadays. What you believed about the unseen war was all that mattered. Unseen beasts, the only question in my interview for this job was if I believed in the war! I seriously wonder how something so absurdly fake could ever become such a big deal.

“Could it be?” I ponder in my head thinking that the war may actually be real. I mean how else would it become such a big deal?

“No! Something so obviously impossible could never be real!”

Immediately after whispering those words my mind calms and I regain my sanity

----------------------------------------

I suddenly see wisps of light through the doorway. Someone was close to belief. I think it might have been that foolish man. This was the moment, would he take the leap and acknowledge the truth? Apparently, the answer is no, Before could even finish my thought the light winks out.

“No new warriors today” I sigh before taking a sip of my liquid joy.

----------------------------------------

“People are so foolish!” I celebrate the genius of my method of attack. Enemies that you can only see if you believe in them! I am a genius. I am the peak, the crest, unambiguously the smartest. The only obstacle between me and everything is that cursed order of warriors. Conquest, even subtle conquest, can never be perfectly hidden, even with my talent. Most people are fools, some are fanatics, others have a modicum of intellect, and very few are intelligent enough to see my brilliant plan. The worst of them is the head of the warriors he is a man of great intellect, smart enough for even me to recognize that he has a small fraction of my own intellect. “Soon, the world will know nothing other than my greatness, nothing of that so called creator who hardly intervenes” My thoughts are entirely of the inevitable future, the dance of fate has already begun.
