Feeling of A Prologue Part 1

A storm is forming in a medium-sized city not known for anything really but the strangeness of its populace. The clouds in the sky were ready to break loose some heavy rain while the wind turned violent from a gentle breeze.

Having just started his shift, Jules thought it would be a good night at first. Clocking in and getting the basics tasks out of the way, he couldn't wait to settle in for the slow period since storms meant fewer customers.

An hour or so later he finally had the standard routine underway as no one really came by.

Jules was propped up on a wooden stool in front of the cash register. Relaxing he pulled out a tablet and started web browsing. He read on the device about the upcoming games for PC and cross-platform play for the old handheld he owned. Not finding anything on the usual sites which was a bit of a bummer, he started to get bored. It's always a letdown when your favorite go-to spots have boring content or no content at all.

*Crackle!* A rumble outside of lighting and thunder shook the outpost building with a pressure of sound and heavy wind. Deciding to browse a new site to test that luck was a good way to at least not focus on the weather.

'But where to go.... hmm, I know... let's try something like this, let's see." With that, he decided to plug into the search bar "Game Live" for some weird reason that didn't make sense for the order of words. 'Hopefully, I will get some good video clips of something.'

A few scrolls he came across a thread about a new Online Game SIM and what people were expecting of it. The number of views was low but the comment count was in the millions which was slightly odd to the worker.

"Eh might as well...." Clicking on the link he had to wait because the buffer started to display. "Ah, the joys of tethering from your phone for internet access."

*Bop! Bop!* The sound came from the bulletproof glass over the building storm outside. He seems to finally have a customer. With a smile on his face, he greeted him.

"Hello, what can I get for you?" Pushing on the intercom to speak outside was a must since the noise of the wind picked up once more.

"Two packs of wraps and a pack of the cheapest smokes in the box." The old man told him.

"No problem let me get those for you." Moving a way he moved to the rack while keeping a side on the guy. Making sure he wasn't homeless or trying to steal from the drinks outside in the cooler on both sides. 'Hmm, I have never seen this guy before, definitely not a regular.'

After awhile you tended to remember the regulars and the not so regular in the area after a few months. Only the diehard came over in the weather or late at knight. Plus there was no care that pulled up.

"Sir Your total is…" Jules wrung everything up pretty quickly as the man just waited patiently not looking anywhere else or making odd movements.

"Welcome to Gamelive!" A loud digital computer tone drowned out from the area where the tablet was seated. Next, there was the sound of thunder crashing out cutting into anything else being said. The storm finally arrived it seemed.

"Have a nice night" He managed to say to the customer as he left. "My customer service needs improvement, I can't believe I thought he was going to rob A few drinks.."

"Rrghh.. uh-huh! The same to you!" The old man grumbled loud enough to be heard over the storm.

'Gonna suck for him to walk home in this storm...Wish I had an umbrella to give him at least.' Feeling a little bad, Jules leaned forward looking at the sky that looked crazy bad. 'Lots of weird shit happening lately in the sky. Hopefully, no more planes disappear for no reason.'

Walking back he sat down and picked up the tablet. "Fill out info for better access and bonuses, or do a Guest account?" The Computer tone spoke out as if able to access where he was at.

*Tck! Tck! Tck!* The sound of a clock ticking could be heard faintly which was odd considering there wasn't one in the building and the storm itself.

"What was that noise!?" Startled Jules looked around as the storm lulled briefly. If he heard the strange sound go off again he would need to check outside and make sure nothing happened to the fuel pumps. "Hmm, mice may be scratching somewhere. Whatever?"

He mumbled taking a quick look at the cameras to make sure nothing hit the pumps then a look out the side window at the Diesel Fuel Isles.

'Hmm, do I have the time? If I do have the time I might as well do the full form, the site my turn out into a new favorite. Yeah, I have the time.' Thinking it over there was nothing else going on since the pumps were fine and it was too early to clean outside. The screen showed bonuses were added with a complete fill-out when hovering over a spot.

Thinking to himself, Bonuses are hella nice especially if this Game Live is potentially a great game. As the screen started to expand every few seconds he really had to take in account how much was truly available.

'Holy crap! What a detailed form!' Looking at his phone battery and a quick look to make sure nothing changed outside he straightened up on the stool. 'Hell might as well begin.'

A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

So many different choices for every question started to make his pulse erratic and breathing slower.

*Crack! Rumble Crack!* A torrent of thunder outside is all he could hear and then boom before flickering lights! The power goes out a few seconds later!

"Well, my night just got easier." Addressing the situation he looked at the pumps and then checked to make sure the flashlight was nearby still.

Onward to the fill out FORM.

Sexual Identifier: Male Age:34 Height: 5`11

Sexual Preference: Heterosexual, Sexual Discovery

"Why the hell does the website want to know that?" After making the selections from the very long list he felt a weird sensation and a slight pain having done so. "This.. is a little to personal of information I should change it but.. I really feel odd about doing so..."

"Because we would like to have satisfactory feedback for all info based on the USER, interactions, and posts based on compiled information." The computerized voice tone spoke out from the tablet again. "Honesty is the best policy."

"Well, that makes sense.." Jules mumbled to himself. A flicker of digital coding passes his eyes that flicker on the tablet screen but not enough for him to notice it. "..wait..what!?"

Confusion was pushed away as he started to question what was going on. With a crackle of thunder and a flash of lightning, his worry faded away.

"I am a highly advanced computer program, of course, I make sense! Foolish USER!..." The computerized voice said again.

"Hahahaha did my tablet just talk to me...again...Wait.... wait wait.. did it just sass ME..." Reaching for the flashlight he turned on to look around the room and make sure he was not getting pranked or really messed with. It didn't take long to search the place with no devices lit up beside the flashlight and tablet when he made it back. "I have finally gone crazy".

It was a good thing he left when able before something like this now happening.

"Whether you are crazy or not is subject to Investigation, and medical testing after completion." The computerized voice spoke out once more and played a little clearer for Jules. With a hint of cheeky sarcasm maybe.

It sounded like it was having fun with this back-and-forth. And despite the worker sitting back down and looking at the tablet, it spoke once more.

"Continue with the form USER!!" The voice echoed deep inside his mind compelling him to do so it felt like.

"Woah ...Woah ..! Calm down there tablet, no need to be snippy!" He yelled while standing from the stool. It's a good thing the power was out so his boss wouldn't have seen the psycho show he was putting on. "How in hell are you doing that anyway, the talking to me thing I mean?"

The LOW tone drowned out with a slight ticking sound he would have heard if not for the changes already made against his brainwaves.

"There is a microphone in your tablet and you have it paired with your cell phone, these together allow quick back and forth of voice data and transmission." The explanation was smooth and a part of Jules mind was telling him to stop but the next words prevented that from happening. "The bonuses also have a chance of increasing funds."

'Ohh...' He let out a sigh as times were pretty hard lately. 'Eh makes sense I suppose. Pftt bullshit this makes sense.' Shaking his head common sense pushed against the buzzing in his ears. 'But my microphone is turned off that can't be right.. I need better virus protection on my devices.

As he was thinking this, another crackle of thunder echoed out. The LOW tone voiced out, almost pleading it seemed for him to move on.

"Please... USER finish the FORM!" With a clutch to his ears, and the tablet dropping back down it might have been the end for a moment. "Increasing conditional recruitment."

Outside the storm raged harder with more lighting in quick succession that reflected into the building. The light flashes left Jules stunned but also dazed before stopping.

'Huh it sounded like it was excited and a little giddy while it wanted me to finish it but something else...' Grabbing his ears while massaging them, he gave a rub of his eyes next. The spots did not disappear, however. "Ummm hold on... why do you need me to finish the form..? And can you do something about your voice ... It sounds like a seductive woman and a rampaging man, with white noise playing entwined in it?"

"That's a very weird description to be made." With an exasperated sigh, the voice spoke once more but the mix of joy inside could be heard. "You are the first to fill the Form out in over 10 months, that's an adult above the target range. Most Users GO through the Guest access. My voice cannot be modulated until you get further down the form. The voices you are hearing are a sound modulation & frequency test. It's to fix your ears and sensitivity. In another set of words, it is calibration."

'How the hell is this gonna fix my hearing ..screw it I'll just do the form.' All ready to resist he gave in out of the blue as the coding of numbers played in his eyes and the buzzing in his ears remained consistent. 'Why am I unable to stop.'

''You don't like extra Large breasts that is interesting, to say the least, my User."

*Bang!* Jules jumped up taking a deep breath as if he was breaking the surface from drowning, the stoll hitting the side of the building abruptly.

"I Forgot you were even there!" After getting his breath back he was confused and didn't know what was rightfully going on. "What.. what is a User?" His fingers hurt as his eyes looked over his tablet that showed a lot of information had been filled out but he just didn't remember he did it. 'I.. was sinking in something.. right?'

"The User, in other words, you are quite interesting." The voice says to him. The words were clearly in his mind and devoid of any doubt something happened.

"Thanks, I think. Your voice is not as damaging as before." He didn;t know why he said but he did. He was relaxing and his heart rate slowly got to normal. 'Why am I so calm already? This doe snot make sense?'

Giving a few sniffs of the air he hoped there was not a chemical spill and he was tripping out or something.

"You are welcome!" The voice spoke out once more but switched to demanding. "Now finish form!"

2 hours later....
