Cori's Adventure
Chapter 5: Ancient Seal

Chapter 5: Ancient Seal

It had been a week since he discovered a girl named Luna and a beautiful forest behind the kingdom's walls. Over the past week, Cori and Luna had gradually become close. Cori began teaching her to write and learn simple calculations. Luna taught Cori how to climb and gather things. He also didn't expect Luna to be able to fly from one tree branch to another like a monkey. Cori also imitated her but fell down, luckily Luna caught him with the vines she controlled. In addition, Cori also became friends with Kevin, the wolf that attacked him at first but now became friendly and approachable like a puppy! Moreover, Luna also took him to the tree house she built during her time here (it was called a house but it was just like a few wooden panels, with leaves inside to sleep for warmth). Thanks to Cori, this house became more cozy because he taught Luna how to make a bed from tree branches, a pillow from leaves and some old shirts he brought, a desk and a ladder from ancient tree bark. Peaceful days passed gently in this beautiful primeval forest. Until one day...

- Hey Cori!

- What's the matter?

- I have something to show you, help me by the way

- Ok, as long as I can, I'm always ready to help you

She led Cori deeper into the forest, it was already 3pm. After a while, Cori saw an ancient temple built of stone and covered with a layer of green moss (I don't know why but Cori felt like it was glowing softly). This temple is almost as big as your house now, the walls are carved with strange, twisted characters but still create a majestic feeling for the temple

- WOW, this place is so beautiful

- ^^ this is the first time I've brought someone here, the temples around here were entrusted to me by my mother before she disappeared

- Disappeared, your mother disappeared into nothingness?

- It sounds strange but according to my vague memory, it's been so long since my mother left...

- Sorry for making you sad, I'm just curious~

- It's okay, I'm sure that one day my mother will return to me!

- Wait, you said "temple", so there are more?

- That's right

Luna said while holding a branch on the ground and drawing

- Like this, there are a total of six around here, they are arranged like a pentagon and connected by paths

- But a pentagon only has five points?

- That's right, because at the center of the five small temples is a giant main temple, which is also where the seal is placed, connecting the other five temples to one point

- Seal!? The temples are sealing something?

The more she spoke, the more Cori didn't understand

- That's right, an ancient creature made of darkness and evil things that I don't understand anymore. It is said that if that thing is allowed to escape, everything will become history...

- How scary!

Luna led Cori into this beautiful temple, after listening to Luna's story, Cori gave up the idea of running around and exploring and instead followed behind Luna into the temple. Inside there was only one room because this was only one of the five small temples, although there was only one main hall, this did not reduce the majestic splendor of this building. It seemed that this place had been built a long time ago, so the roots of the surrounding trees had grown into the temple.

In the middle of the temple was a triangular staircase leading to the highest platform, this was also where all the tree roots gathered into one point and supported something that was shining green

- Be careful not to trip! - Luna said

He walked up each step and reached the top, only then did Cori clearly see that the thing that was shining and being supported by all the tree roots around here was a beautiful stone the size of a palm and had a large word engraved on the top surface of the stone.

The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.

- Every temple has one of these stones, but the one in the main temple is much bigger and shines the brightest!

- Oh wow, are these stones the seal to imprison the monster?

- Yes, but recently it hasn't been as bright as before, the light flickers from time to time which makes me worried... Anyway, let's go behind this area, I planted a tomato plant behind this shrine!

Luna ran down the stairs on the left side of the shrine, he also ran after him but then he suddenly felt strange...

- Cori, dad's home, what are you doing?

Cori was sitting at the table next to the kitchen window drawing on a peaceful afternoon. Hearing his dad calling, he knew that his dad was home! He missed his dad so much, he rarely came home. He ran out to greet his dad with joy:

- Yeahhh! Dad's home! Dad's home!

- Today is your birthday, dad promised he would be home!

- Cheers, so happy, so happy ^^

- Cori, let your dad put away his things first. How can your father get in the house if you keep hanging on his leg like that? - His mother said affectionately

- HaHa I won't let go, I'm determined to stay by your side forever ^v^

After the end happy birthday song, he made a wish:

- I wish that our family will always be happy like this!

Blowing out the flickering candle in front of him, Cori happily shouted in happiness, the lights were turned on and now it was time for Cori's favorite part: Opening the presents! First he opened his father's gift, which was a pair of beautiful gloves that made him jump with joy. Next was his mother's gift:

- Wow! A marble ballpoint pen, my favorite!

- And now the most special gift of the day - Cori's father said, making him so excited

- Tada, it's a gift that Uncle Elden and Mom and Dad prepared for you

A square green gift box was pushed in front of him

- cori!

Turning behind him, Cori asked

- Did Mom and Dad hear someone calling me?

- No, Mom and Dad didn't hear anything. Forget it, open the gift!

Listening to his parents, he ignored the voice and opened the gift box. Before his eyes appeared a sparkling blue stone, on the surface of the stone was engraved a strange character…

- It's so beautiful, isn't it? - Cori's mother asked

- Yes, mom!

But he still felt that this stone was a bit... familiar.. It seemed like he had seen it somewhere before…

- Cori! What are you doing!? Stop!!!

Turning around quickly, Cori couldn't help but feel strange:

- Didn't Mom and Dad hear that voice?

- No, there's no voice around here, I'm probably just too happy! Quickly take the stone out!

I just thought I was hallucinating, after all, I didn't stay up late today to wait for Dad to come home! Turning back to his original position, Cori slowly placed his hand on the stone in the gift box and took it out of the box

- CORI STOP!!!

The powerful shockwave sent Cori flying down the stairs, making him dizzy and dizzy. The stone in his hand also flew out of his hand, falling to the bottom of the stairs. The temple was shaking violently. The ground cracked, causing what Luna saw as a liquid and jet-black gas to rise from the cracks. THE SEAL IS BEING BREAKED

Running up the broken stairs, Luna grabbed the stone and quickly ran out of the temple, now filled with death, not forgetting to drag Cori who had not yet recovered. The two of them ran out of there just before the temple completely collapsed. Columns of black gas began to spread everywhere around the temple. Wherever they spread, the surrounding plants withered and died. The ground also turned a toxic black color. The two of them continued to run away from the sweep of that ancient darkness and came across another intact temple. As they ran inside, the black aura stopped and did not spread anymore, ending Cori and Luna's peaceful days.
