---------------Eshkia’s P.O.V-------------------
The pitch black darkness enveloped the lands. Between these shadows Eshkia was scouting the ravine for the potential threat to their clan. Finding a few burrowers, they were nocturnal creatures that lived deep beneath the ground. They had the hideous appearances of a mole with thick spikes protruding out of their shoulder and 6 inch long nails on their three fingers. Normally one couldn’t naturally find them but since the ravine was deprived of sunlight from the surface they occasionally pop out everywhere. They weren’t a threat if they were alone but seeing as burrowers came in groups it would prove troublesome to the village.
So drawing my bow and arrow I sighted my aim on the current burrower. I held my arrow until my hand was almost near my chest and then I released it. The arrow flew across the field quickly darting and then lodging itself on the creatures head. It drew back its head and then limped it backed again with no more life. The ground then erupted as several burrowers came out flying and making their way quickly towards me. I drew my twin blades that hung lightly on my back.
Two burrowers was flying with their claws first and with a slight movement I dodge the creatures and then counterattacked. With their back exposed I gave a slash as I ripped open their skin and blood gushed. The remaining three dug and quickly re-emerged below me. The creature’s claw came straight for my face. I quickly jumped backwards and gave a cross slash separating its head from its body.
The other two made progress as they closed in on me. With a few dodge and strike all of them finally fell lifeless. I then sheathed back my blades and continued my scouting. I blended with the shadow again as I disappeared from sight and made my way forward.
A couple of hours has already gone by and the farther I go the more monsters I encounter. It intrigued me as to why there were so many of them coming out. Naturally there would be a few of them out but this was unnaturally high. There must probably be a catalyst for this event and I found it out later on.
As I made my way for higher ground I located the source of troubles. And there it was, no instead of it, let’s change it to he. There he was. HE was a human scantily clad in a badly woven pelts of creatures I haven’t seen before. He was lying in the ground trying to fight the hordes of monsters coming in his way. For a human I could say that he was actually pretty handsome. His golden hair flowed nicely as he made movements and he’s facial features was quite attractive. His nose held high while his almond shape eyes glowed with cerulean blue. He wasn’t actually short nor was he tall. From my deduction he was probably aged 10 to 13.
Burrowers erupted from his sides and he struggled as to keep them away. His arms glowed with mana and then his shoulder up to his chest until it fully enveloped him. His golden hair changed to black with red streaks at the end of his hair. His eyes changed color to red as well. He fought them off furiously with one arm. He groaned in pain at his every movement and most of his punches missed. He probably couldn’t see and was reacting based on his senses alone.
Yet he managed to fend it off as more monsters came to swarm him. I didn’t know what to do, should I let him be or help him? There was a chance that he could be a potential threat to our village. Yet I couldn’t stand it as the boy kept on fighting for dear life. I quickly made a decision and readied my bow. I took three arrows and fired them of simultaneously.
Swoosh. Three arrows landed on mark with three burrowers as more creatures came to view. The other burrowers was surprised yet they continued on their relentless assault. The boy didn’t notice the burrowers yet he continued on fighting.
It took a couple of minutes but it seems the boy was nearing his limits and he got a couple of wounds from the creature. The boy then finally passed out on the ground and blood was now gushing out from his head. He had a bad wound on his head. I quickly drew my swords and approached the boy.
Manifesting mana in my legs I quickly sprinted towards the boy. As I approached him at full speed I slashed at a couple of burrowers and my sword met their flesh and cut it out like butter. A couple more drew near me and I gave a huge strike splitting the creature in half vertically. Its innards spewed out and I continued on my approach. I finally was near the boy and I fought to defend him.
I couldn’t understand though, why was I risking my life for someone I didn’t know, hhmmppphhh? Perhaps he reminds me of my son he was close to his age after all. The creatures that came was now dwindling and they noticed that that the vulnerable prey has now become a deadly predator so they backed off and started to escape. I let them be since it would prove cumbersome and they probably wouldn’t assault the village now that there are far less of them.
I eyed the human as I thought of what I should do with him. Monsters would swarm again if I let him be in here but I don’t know of what the people will think or do in the village once they saw him. Eventually choosing the latter I grabbed him and started my way towards the village.

Bam I sung my knuckles towards a creature I couldn’t see but I felt it’s presence. It gave of a feeling of bloodlust and craving. I shuddered at its bloodlust and tried to fight it back with my own then multiple bloodlust started to appear and it overpowered mine. I could sense its presence as it appeared at my sides and the ground erupted.
I quickly used body strengthening and then swung at it hitting it fair and square, I don’t know where I hit it but so long as it made contact I could go on with that. More creatures tried to swarm me as their presence gave it off. They didn’t even bother concealing their presence perhaps they thought that I was easy prey. Sorry but I ain’t going down without a fight. I wiggled away as multiple pain streaked across my body. My hips, left shoulder, my legs my chest and even my foot. It seems like I broke a lot of bones in my fall. Good thing I managed to activate body strengthening that managed to keep me alive.
I felt my energy draining as I fought back and little by little my vision was becoming dimmer and dimmer until I finally blacked out.
Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.
I woke up quickly as my eyes emerged open. There was only da I felt presence so I quickly grabbed it and applied mana on my fist. It struggled as It yelped and screamed.
“HHHEEEELLLLPPPP!!!” it screamed.
This wasn’t a monster I though. It could speak well that huge ass snake could speak as well so I had doubts if this was even human.
The door or I think it was a door ruptured open as several clanking sounds can be heard. Numerous presence can be sensed and I gave off my blood lust hoping to scare them away. Obviously it didn’t work They gave off numerous blood lust again far outclassing me. It was like my blood lust was a simple anger while theirs was like really seeking a person to kill. Well I guess they don’t call it blood lust for nothing?
“Stop with the blood lust you fools!” A loud voice interrupted
The blood lust was immediately cut off and a new presence emerged two actually. I kept up with my blood lust even though I knew mine was nothing compared to theirs.
“Take down your bloodlust youngling you are no match for us.” The voice commanded. Yet I did exactly that. The voice had an intimidation in it so powerful you couldn’t disobey.
“well it seems you understand young one.”
The crowd then slowly grumbled against one another while the clanking of metal resounded. I couldn’t understand on what they were saying but I’m pretty sure the language wasn’t human.
Ding!
Due to exposure to darkness for a longtime you have gained the skill lesser night vision
Lesser night vision lvl.1(beginner)
Your exposure to darkness has adjusted your eyes to it allowing you to see with small details in darkness.
Effects:
Can see a little at darkness
Slowly figures started to appear. The shapes of their bodies were outlined and what came before me was a medium sized outline of a person probably male, why male you ask? Because of its stature the creature had a broader shoulder from the outline of what I could see.
“It seems the prophecy was right.” The shadow commented while moving towards me.
“What prophecy?” I asked
The prophet has foretold of that a human will fall in our lands l from the pitch darkness and illuminate our lands once again and lead us once more to our rightful place. And it seems that after hundreds of years of waiting it will finally be fulfilled.” He declared while the other shadows once more began to talk among themselves and the air once more was filled with whispers of strange language.
“Wait! I think the prophecy has got the wrong guy.” I said.
The shadow began to move its head shaking.
“The prophecy can never be wrong. It has been foretold ages ago and you cannot deny the fact that you fell, it is evident in your body, we could see that you have broken a lot of your bones!” He said with a little bit of smirk in it.
Somehow what he just said pissed me off and yeah I couldn’t deny the fact that I did fall and wait. This creatures could actually see in the dark no wait, seeing as the other monsters could attack him in the darkness it isn't actually surprising that they could see.
I gave a sigh. What the hell I don’t know what will happen next and I had tons of fucking question but I also made a few observations , yes even in the dark. Let’s see First I could see(not literally) that there are a lot of them so the odds isn’t in my favor. Next I was almost completely paralyzed so escape is not an option. And last is that I was somewhat in a room of sorts.
------------------------Eshkia’s P.O.V-----------------------------
I was right next to the elder who was talking with the human in his language. I could understand a little bit of their conversation since I managed to pick it off over the years.
The human then started to start asking questions.
“Where is this place?” He asked.
“You my boy are in the depths of Yudiputalintika, the very depths of the ravine you probably fell in and this is the village of Gin-ag-o home of the shadow elves.” The elder answered. The human seems to have flinched at the mention of elves.
“Shadow elves? I haven’t heard of that race nor have I read nor see one.” It said.
The elder laughed at the humans words and started to talk.
“I am not surprised. We shadow elves has been erased from the history books and has been casted out by the other race of elves.” The elder said then slowly he began to flush red. “Those backstabbing fools, we have been exiled in this ravine by an alliance of elves who have feared our power and affinity for darkness, spreading propaganda that we are the very reincarnation of evil ourselves!” the elder stated.
The human just stared at the elder with is eyes wide open. He doesn’t seem to believe what the elder just said.
“But today that will all change now that the prophesized savior of our race has finally calm. Though you seem weaker than what the prophecies foretold but no matter a little bit of hellish training from our Eshkia can make the greatest as well as handsomest monster in history.” The elder began to laugh.
I looked my way towards him and he seems to have noticed.
“Oh that’s right Eshkia you will train the human to make him stronger”
He then started to leave and with a flick of his finger so did the guardians. The human and I just stared at him and began to protest but he slammed the door shut as he left barring all of our complaints.
