Let me tell ya, this last chapter was a treat to write, but I barely have words to describe how its first draft was gonna be the start of a shitshow.

It all started with the mind upgrade, this little thing actually got me by surprise. I had thought of a decently balanced skill for the Power rank up ( within the context of the already kinda broken system I’m cooking up).

But as I was implementing it in the novel I suddenly realized.

‘ Oh shit, I forgot his mind rank up.’

And it was his first Main stat rank up too! I refused to give him some middle of the road skill for it.

‘But well if I’m gonna give him a big skill or something it can’t be categorized as a normal skill, else it will be too broken’

Little did I know I was about to cook up the most bullshit thing I had ever had the gall to write down.

My baby was called “DARK RESONANCE” and it was made of two simple premises.

1 - every skill / class / affinity / mana … literally everything you have that the system touches, gains the DARK modifier.

2 - In darkness for every thing with the DARK modifier augments everything else with DARK modifier, including this skill.

Now you might say, ‘well this sounds broken as fuck, but compared to some other Mc’s cheats it’s kinda ok no?’

And you’d be correct, with only a small little problem.

This wasn’t a cheat, this wasn’t exclusive, from the very start the only thing I’m making individual exclusive is their inborn skill.

This system prompt alone made me seriously consider giving Jake a deus ex machina level resurrect so the mc can survive in the shitshow that was about to ensue.

Thankfully I had a good night of sleep and a great comment that inspired me to write the ‘Reframing the cold dark night’.

Which I had a blast writing, for some fucking reason I loooove arguments, though we wont be seeing that many of those.

Not all is lost though, a few of my culinary experiments will show up in the novel, after some heavy nerfs.
