The Siege of Brunaal's Forge was a siege that will go down in the history of this sector as one of the most gruesome and bloody confrontations to face the world, up until this point at least. By this point, humanity spanned half the galaxy, hundreds of thousands of planets inhabited by the most populous species in the universe, assailed by many different Xeno factions. Each planet housing many billions of humans, the human enclave was vast. The Councils rule, almost infinite, was only rivaled by that of the Malevolent gods.
Of course, no one at the time knew of the critical importance of victory, or defeat, in this sector would be for the course of the war. The war against the corrupted forces didn’t seem to be stopping, in fact, it only seemed to be getting started. Future scholars realized that this was little more than a scouting run by the Corrupted ones. Approximately two years after this event a main fleet of over 200 vessels broke into the system. Whilst the story below is written in hindsight by Commissar Luther Covetain a number of years after the events occurred, it appears that it began being compiled in a number of diaries and journals from the time. Luther Covertain was, at the time, an unknown and minor commissar who was at the beginning of his career. His heroic actions on a number of occasions throughout the next decade led to a number of victories against the enemies of the Conclave. After fighting Wairks, Xy'kith and the Zythar on many occasions, his litany of medals and awards is something to really marvel at.
He passed the Iron Legion Collegium and moved on to become an Adjutant Commissar attached to the 127th Hekaran Supply Corps. After frequent deployments across the sector, Covetain stumbled across a Velthar Syndicate operation whilst doing his duties on the planet of Zephyrion Prime. After this, he was reassigned to the 88th Verdant Infantry Regiment, where he served for a number of years.
