Opening

2017 was the year the dream of millions seemed to come true. A Virtual Reality net game became available. It was a Fantasy themed game where the player was able to do whatever they wanted. With the exception of the Magic system, the game followed the laws of Physics.

All the NPCs spoke an original Language, but the games system had an auto sub/dub feature so everyone could be understood. Tech level in game was early middle ages, with some high tech features from system and magic.

The central part of the game was the system of magic. Rather than having pre-made spells, there were elements and attributes. Each [Element] and {Attribute} leveled up independently, and spells were player selected combinations. Several basic attributes were selectable right after an element was learned (EX: [Fire] started with {Temperature}, {Control} and {Distance} attributes.) Players had to complete quests or buy in game manuals in order to learn an Element. Elements are most commonly learned by gaining that use an element they don’t know.

Skills and stats were also found in the game, but stats had less of an effect on magic than [Element] and {Attribute} levels. Skills could be learned through events.(EX: a skill to place a (permanent) magical Effect into an object.) Skills could also be gained from real world knowledge. (EX: is a skill, and using Karate in game gave the game knowledge of your current skill level, so the demonstrated skill level will be displayed.)

Everything in the game has a level though some seemed pointless. Characters started with their status showing the following:

Spirit Level: Not explained anywhere public, though some may know what it means.

HP: Is rather standard, though healing is at a natural human rate without some form of assistance; ie: potion, healing spell, etc...

MP: Doesn't have a numerical value. It refills faster the more is there, so if using 1/10th of a bar takes 5 min to recover, using 1/2 would take hours or more. Everyone seems to have different amounts of MP. The amount of MP and recovery speed increase while MP is recovering, so someone with an object that always takes 1% of their MP while it's full would always be gaining. MP recovers fastest while unconscious.

Strength: Attack damage and carry capacity. Also required for some weapons/armor.

Vitality: Max Health and HP Regen. Stamina isn't really used, but people with low vitality tend to have a psychosomatic reactions to exertion leaving their avatars breathless. Higher Vit seems to help with that. Damage reduction(a little)

Magic: The power of a player's spell, expressed as a numerical value. Seems to grow faster for some players.

Spirit: The ability to resist spells.

Dexterity: Affects hit rate and Detailed crafting Success.

Agility: Affects speed and Dodge rate.

As this is a VR game, stats will grow faster for people with an aptitude or training in a related area. ie: a jeweler or clockmaker would see very rapid gains in Dexterity, a weightlifter would see rapid gains in strength. The gains from previous training taper off by level 100. Someone with an innate aptitude would still see faster gains after level 100, though the gains would be smaller (about 5% higher than average).

Flexibility, willpower, and other stats from VRMMO literature are treated as passive skills, as there is no maximum skill level. There is no major difference in mechanics compared to other literary works.)

Both [Elements] and {Attributes} have skill trees, though the trees Are hidden. Some {Attributes} are 'Secret' rather than hidden. Hidden {Attributes} become visible when their Parents Levels get close to the unlock conditions. They can also become visible through word of mouth. Secret {Attributes} unlock only when conditions are met and are never shown beforehand.

I will be running a game based off this, I think as I really like worldbuilding, but writing is VERY hard for me. I hope the game will help motivate me, as players will be cannon. OP char not allowed. details later. Hopefully I'll have chapter 1 out soon, but no promises.
